Hi Ladies,

Just a quick one as I'm at work Very Happy but I just wanted to say to Louise, that after several M/C including 2 ICSI cycles. we conceived naturally and now have a little girl. She too has a balanced reciprocal translocaion but at least she'll know about hers from the word go!! So I just wanted to say there is hope for a natural BFP even though i had some dark moments when I didn't believe that!!

hope this helps when facing your next "natural cycle" or FET.

Steph xxx

ps thinking about a FET and our embies were created before we knew about my translocation!!!!!!!!

Wondered how you are? Any news? Updates?

We are now 29 weeks and been for scan today and all is fine (thank goodness). We have started decorating and buying stuff but still cant help thinking every day that something might go wrong. Someone said to me that until the baby is in my arms I wont relax- and they are right.

Would love to hear hwo you are all doing.

Take care all

Hiya Cathy
Gosh 29 weeks how time flies!!! I'm so so excited for you hun and I hope everything is going well. It's so great for you.

We're doing OK. FInally cycling now for our FET for our 5 frozen blasts. Got delayed due to my cycles being out of whack after the failed cycle then there was the Christmas shutdown (labs shut for 1 month) so finally we're started! SUch a waiting game. So today is day 2 of our natural FET cycle. Typical guys will only put back 1 blast but as we're doing natural it's good because if this cycle fails we'll go straight onto the next one etc. With 5 blasts hopefully one is successful.. but if not then we're straight onto the next fresh cycle. Got to think positive and last time wasn't our time -that's how I look at it.

Such a peculiar thing to say but I've got a girls name fixed in my head and it is related to Christmas so I think a Christmas baby (or around about then) will work. If this or next cycle works then that will happen! Got to think positive!

Keep in touch

Hi Louisa,

Lovely to hear from you. Glad that you are cycling again. Keep thinking positively-its the best way. I too wanted to push for twinnies but glad now that there is only one in there. You've got to have a good chance with 5 blasts. I'm keeping everything crossed for you.

Keep in touch would love to hear your updates.

Lots and lots of luck and best wishes.

HI Fiona
Thanks for looking out for me! I've been a bit rubbish posting on this board as my plans for a natural FET before Christmas didn't happen due to my cycles being out of whack from the IVF. But now back to normal and on this totally natural FET.. and it's great! My lining is really good (was 10mm before ovulation and I think it's much more now - they were really happy with it), and not having any drugs is fab for my diabetes. The plan is to run a number of natural FETs month after month back to back which is also great. But this one is going to work!!! They had to defrost only 1 whcih then started expanding again so the other 4 I've got are still saved up for next time. I'm soooooooooooo nervous and afraid to sympton spot not that there would be any as it's only 2 days post transfer today...

Will keep you both posted.

Cathy hope you're doing well - are you on Mat leave yet?

Hi there,

I'm new to this forum so please excuse my ignorance, but I'm hoping you can help me.

We have had 4 miscarriages and 2 missed miscarriages, and 2 failed IVF's. Nobody seems to want to test for causes, so i was wondering what exact tests you had to find a balanced reciprocal translocation, and was this done through your doctor?

Many thanks, I'm loosing hope as no answers....x

Hi all,

Louisa- very excited for you about your FET. I'm hoping and praying that it all works out for you which I am sure it will. Keep us updated. Baby dust and positive thinking coming your way. Good luck for tomorrow I will be thinking about you. Remember dont worry if the line is faint- its took us three or for attempts (over a number of days to be sure it was a positive and now we are nearly there. GOOD LUCK XXXXX

Scarlett Tink- can you ask them to develop your probe to save on time later as I know this was the bit that took the most time for us. I know what the waiting is like- we had to wait ages and ages to find out whether or not we got funding (which we didnt in the end anyway) but it is all worth it and it does work so keep positive and hope the wait goes quickly for you.

Hi to the newbies on the site- hope things are moving along for you too.

Sar1- we all know how you feel and it can all feel like hopeless but keep strong and remember if you have hope anything is possible. After we had 3 miscarriages our consultant sent us for the tests for translocations. I dont think that it had a special name. Where did you have your IVF? Not all centres offer PGD so probably wouldnt have the tests for translocations. My advice would be to book a consultation at your nearest PGD centre and tell them specifically that you want to be tested for translocations (they test your man too as it could be him with the translocation). Basically there are two types of translocations most are passed on in your family (although mine wasnt). There is a balanced reciprocal translocation. When you are being made you get one chromosome from your dad and one from your mum. In a balanced reciptorcal translocation 2 chromosomes break off and swap places so you bascially have all half a chromosome 16 (eg) attached to half a 17 and vice versa. this means you are find but if you pass on either of your broken ones to your baby it mostly causes miscarriage. The other type which I dont know so much about is where a chromosome 16 (eg) attaches itslef (whole self) to another so again you pass on too much of a specific chromosome. We have our PGD and tests etc at Guys in London although we are from the Midlands if you give them a call and ask for Alison Lashwood she will be able to tell you everything you need to know. Hope this helps and keep positive (I know its hard)

Well my news- I have 6 weeks to go and cant wait. My bro had a little baby girl yesterday which made it all even more real. Packed my hospital bag today. Still at work for as long as I can so that I can savour every moment when our little one arrives.

Love to you all and keep in touch

Cathy. How exciting about your new niece!!! Your baby and your niece will be great friends how lovely that will be!

Hi Fiona

Just an update from me.. OTD yesterday. No AF in sight b but not much of a line really. Took ages (i.e. more than 10 mins) to show up and it was so so so faint I had to hold it to the window and DH disagreed it existed! Started a bit of pinky brown bleeding yesterday and today. Tested again today and the same very very very faint line on my sensitive test & used the guys test too. Just don't know waht to think. AF not in existance but I'm so worried that the pinky brown is the start of it as it usually starts slowly. This would be a chem preg as I'm definitely 4 days late so far (full AF shold have started on Sat for sure as it is always 14 days after my ovulation surge).

Opinons very welcome.. I'm afraid to do anything, go t the loo. i need to phone Guys tomorrow (should have phoned yesterday) but was too chicken to as I'm afraid that they'll confirm my fears.

Oh Louisa I dont know what to think???

I must say that for the first 2 days our line was so so so faint that it was almost unrecognisable as a line and I must admit I couldnt believe it until a couple of days later but I didnt have any bleeding?????

Have you got any other signs? I had a feeling that I must be as I had OHSS (which usually gets worse if pregnant?).

I really, really hope that the faint line develops and the pinkly bleeding subsides. Good luck for the call tomorrow I will be thinking of you.

Love, best wishes and baby dust

Cathy - unfortunately the bleeding has turned into full blown AF and this has been a chemical preg.

Unthwarted this is also day 1 of our new FET. 1st scan 8th March. We will succeed this year!!!

Good luck with the new baby birth. I'll be thinking of you

Hi all,

I have finished work now yay! So I am on the big countdown now. Finished earlier than I thought because of high blood pressure but I figured we have waited so long for this that a couple of extra weeks off work to help my baby is the least I can do.

Watching loads of trash on the TV (including one born every minute- not a good idea!)

Would love to hear how you are getting on and Louisa when you start your next FET.

Take care all
Best wishes

WELL DONE Cathy - so pleased for you xx

Message for Picchio - hi there, its Mandy - we mailed a while ago. AHHHH this is such a nightmare - the wait is soo long. How are you getting on. We had an appt with Collen in Dec - she was really lovely - and we then had an appt wit Dr Raganuth in the 26/02. She was also lovely - but we are still no closer to getting started. Apparently we are awaiting to see if they can do PGD - they were talking about doing it in conjuction with CGH. To be honest i'm lost. When we came away from last appt we thought we were doing cgh - not pgd but apparently we are doing both. but we haven't even had the go ahead that we can ( pgd wise) let alone make the probes. They are all so lovely but I'm afraid I ended up in tears on the phone the other day to them becasue I really thought that (as we thought we were doing cgh ) we were ready to go ( as no probes are made for cgh). But no - i think this is going to take ages. Feeling really down and depressed. And i really hate my job but can't afford to leave in case my free ivf doesn'y work!!!!!

Oh my goodness - how depressing am I. I'm sorry. I hope things are better for you my friend.

Sorry to moan - i'm off for a nice bath.

xxxxxx
