Hi Ladies,
I got my protocol through today and a copy of the letter going to my gp detailing whats wrong with, I have homozygous status for plasminogen activtor inhibitor-1 4G/5G gene polymorphism, Also i am a carrier of 0501 genome and lastly i am negative to leukocyte antibodies even though i have carried full term with my still born daughter. I have got lots of drugs to take on this cycle and he has also put me on injection rather than them awful pesseries thank god i hated them.
Well excited now ladies bring it on!!!!
How is everyone going???

Hi Ladies and welcome to peachy, charlieb and Mrs G!
There's quite a few of us now!
Deni - glad you got your protocol. I think you said you'll be starting soon?
I got AF this morning so it's full steam ahead for me now. On Monday I'll start the hrt tabs for 21 days, then should have a bleed within 7 days and then I should be able to start the stimming cycle. Feel excited but apprehensive as I know this is our last go.
Been on the metformin for a few days now and touch wood it's been ok so far - just felt a little nauseous a couple of hours after taking them.
Seabreeze - hope you got your protocol by now - I know you were waiting for it the other day.
Hope everyone else doing ok?

Hi Ladies
Can I ask why they put you on HRT?
Manchester confirmed they have all my results now so we have a call on Monday to discuss. Really want to get started asap, it seems an eternity since our last try. |

Mrs G - I will be on the HRT again this time and dont know why to be honest I think its to provide me with extra oestrogen! Not long now till you get started....yipeeeee!!
Seabreeze - write it all out in a way you feel is better for you to understand. Its all a bit mad when you first get it. Going to chase mine tomorrow as want to get the drugs all ordered so its one less thing to worry about. I just saw your other post and I think if you have any questions then ask them - they are the experts but if they are only human and mistakes can happen so if you feel something isnt right then ask away. I will be!! ;0)
How is everyone doing?

Deni - will be interested to see how you get on with those injections. Will you be able to do them yourself? Am I right that they are in your butt?
Cath - full steam ahead for you now, yay!! Wishing you all the best for your bfp. Keep us updated every step of the way so we can cheer you on.

Deni - well, we really are in this together! What are the chances of that happening? Our cycles must be in tune! I asked Mr P about having the injections instead of the pessaries but he didn't seem to think it was necessary. However, when I got my protocol he had doubled the dose of the pessaries so I'm happy with that - feel like I'm giving the embies more of a chance if you know what I mean.
Mrs G - as far as I understand I think the hrt lowers your fsh level ready for starting stimming on the next cycle and also helps make the eggs more mature. I may be wrong but I think that's what the consultant told me. When I have done previous cycles I always respond well, but never have any spare embryos to freeze possibly due to the lack of mature eggs.
Won't be around for the next couple of days as going away to London with DH for the weekend.
Hope everyone ok and looking forward to the weekend!

cath- Hi hun so your at manchester to you never know our apponintments might fall on the same day that would be nice to put a face to your name, We can have a hot choc from the wonderfull drinks machine LOL!! Enjoy your weekend hun.
Amber- Hi love yes they go in my butt not looking forward to them but it beats mesy pessaries see i always have a bleed with them so i usually have to put them you know where which is awfull!!!
I feel so positive today got bags of energy for once!!! It wears you down waiting for things to happen doesnt it. Just cant wait now, i keep imagining myself holding my baby. Ive tried looking on the internent about that 0501 gene that im a carrier to and i cant find anything on it at all!! Sometimes i think i was made in outer space not born!!!
Everyone have a lovely weekend

Hi Ladies just thought i would check up on you all
Deni - Im glad your protocol has come through, i have to admit your history sounds double dutch to me, glad you know what your doing:) Hope your feeling better on the metformin. Your excitment is catching i cant wait to start either
Amber - Any sign of your protocol? Make sure you ring round for drugs, ive just managed to get a quote for £380 less with Central Homecare so its worth doing.
Cath - Thanks for the advice on e-mailing the secretary, im glad i have done it now. How strange that your oestrogen tablet was missing off your protocol too! I have taken your advice and done a spreadsheet today too, so much more organised
MrsG - Good luck for the phone call on Monday, it wont be long now and you will be on the rollercoaster
Charlie - How are you doing? Not long now untill you start downregging
Peachy - Where are you up to? Have you started anything yet?
Hope you all enjoy your weekend, have fun

Just waiting for my protocol to come through. Will prob start stimming mid-end of March. Having a hysteroscopy end of feb first. And going on hols end of next week. Think I deserve it after the rollercoaster journey of last year.
Got my drugs at central homecare last cycle too they were really good and saved some money.
It will all come round really quickly. And am starting to get a bit excited now.
Have a nice weekend all too - I am packing!

Hi ladies,
What a wierd morning Ive had!!!. Went to care this morning for bloods and pre treatment scan. I told the nurses that my periods have been a bit dodgy for the past two months. My cycle, although a bit irregular, always follows the same pattern a little heavy, very heavy, then very light. Always 3 days.
Dec and Jan period I had hardly any bleeding at all i'm talking tiny amount. Dec one was a tiny bit heavier then this one. This is so unusual for me so I did a pregnancy test on monday as I knew care would tell me to do one. Suprise suprise it was negative just as I knew it would be.
However, whilst there today had my scan and my ovaries were very polycystic but my womb lining was also very thick. Care insisted that I had to do another preg test there and then. Had to sit in the waiting room with my silver pot for an hour and a half as I had already been to the loo before my scan!!!
So for that hour and a half I sat there thinking what if just maybe luck was on our side. It was of course negative and now feel really stupid and deflated.
So carrying on with the pill start metformin tomorrow and start down regging on 16th Feb.
Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks |

Hi Charlie, how strange. Life is so cruel when it gets your hopes up like that just to knock you down again. I have no suggestions im afraid but maybe some of the others will.
Good luck with the metformin hope you feel ok on it, you will be downregging before you know it

Oh that is cruel Charlie isn't it..... maybe just onw of those wonderful "things" that we never get an explanation for.
I can't wait for the weekend to be over so I can have my call and find out when we'll be starting. I've always had about 10 - 12 eggs but it was only the last cycle that we had 1 for freezing, but the embryologist at my other clinic have always said the eggs looked good.
I think I'm lucky with drugs as my Guernsey consultant will put them on prescription so I only end up paying about £30 for my gonal F, clexane and down reg drugs. However at my last clinic they scans & bloods were part of the package price so I either had to fly over for them or pay for my local consultant to do them which costs me about £220 for each scan and bloodtest.
Hope you all have a good weekend! |

Sorry to hear that Charlie. I haven't been through that but just wanted to say that I have had really light periods since starting IVF and I think I am borderline polycystic as was on metformin on my last cycle. Hope you are ok as I know the feeling of thinking maybe this time but then a BFN! Xx
Thanks Seabreeze
Its great that there are so many of us immunies at all about the same time. On my last cycle there were only a few of us! |

Charlie
I can't give you any answers about your strange cycles but I can totally sympathise with your hopes that you might have been pregnant. I have this fantasy every time that I am scanned that the nurse will turn to me and say "oh - you can't start down regging, you're 6 weeks pregnant!!!" and everytime they don't I feel a little disappointed. Totally stupid I know because it's like punishing yourself.
So if I had been in your position sat in that waiting room I would have chosen a name, planned what pram to buy and what school they were going to go to!!!!!!!
Keep positive, remember the IVF drugs take over your cycle so it doesn't matter if they are not perfect. I don't have normal cycles and my consultant in the past has said it doesn't matter - and he was right, both IVF cycles went like clockwork as far as producing lots of good quality embryos not the end result of course.

Well the results are in and I wish I could understand Mr Ps accent well enough to know exactly what is wrong!! Its hard when you're not face to face.
So here is my very muddled attempt!
Massively LAD negative - Intralipids
Positive Factor V Leiden - Clexane & Aspirin
MTHFR homozygous (where the patient has two copies of the MTHFR gene) - Folic Acid, B12 & B6
Plasminogen activtor inhibitor ?? - Metformin
Raised CD19+CD5 - Start on CPD white tablets on day 5 and go for blood flow scan on March 7th & HRT - or are they the same thing??
Will also be on steroids.
So as you can see I'm a tad confused, he said that my prescriptions are coming and that I will have to start taking CPD tables on Day 5 of next cycle which will be 26th Feb and go for a blood flow dopplar scan on the 7th March, all being well with that I will start the cycle treatment straight away ready to start on my follwing AF which would be roughly 21st March.
i don't know if the CPD and HRT are the same things?? Any ideas.
He confirmed no down reg at all and would just start stimming on Day 2 of cycle.
Other ladies at Manchester does this look about right to you or will I be starting on the Metformin nowish aswell?
Its so confusing. |

Sorry to barge in ladies.
A couple of answers for Mrs G, Cycloprogynova is a form of HRT ... it comes in a 21 day pack consisting of 11 white tablets (oestrogen) and 10 brown tablets (progesterone), so you will be purely on the white tablets until your doppler flow scan, and Mr P will give you instructions as to what to take after the scan.
You should start Metformin as soon as possible. The dosage should be gradually increased to the final amount. But be warned of the side effects (runny bot)!
Best of luck with your treatment.

Ah well maybe the Metformin will help with weight loss before the effects of the steroids kick in - gotta be a positive for every negative!!
Thanks Maple for clearing those points up. |
