Well we are home with massive grins on our faces after day 1 of intros to our daughters! It was truely amazing and a day I remember for life. We went in to 2 very shy little girls, 1 curled up on the sofa but smiling at us and the other hiding behind FC and wouldn't even look at us. We took them some colouring books and the bears that were in their life books and sat on the floor. After 5 minutes biggie came over to look at the books with us and joined in colouring with us both then a few minutes later little one was looking at the bears and interested in what we were doing but still wouldn't talk. 10 minutes later we had 2 little girls sat on our knees laughing and colouring with us!!!!! It was just so fantastic. We all chatted then FC asked if we all wanted to play in the garden. The girls got their shoes and biggie came to me and said "Mummy put on" at which point I just melted and had to hold back the tears.

With everyones shoes on we all went outside and FC sat on the bench whilst we played with the girls then after 10 minutes they went in the house and left us alone with them. We were suposed to go home at 12 so when FC came back out at 12.15 I was ready to be told we were going but she said "what do you like on your sandwiches?" We were over the moon! They said we were welcome to stay because the girls were happy and enjoying their time with us. So we all sat on the garden and had a picnic together.

After another hour of playing (Jumping on Daddy and racing on the space hoppers) we went inside so we could get them ready for going. We told them they Mummy and Daddy were going home but coming back tomorrow morning. Biggie wasn't impressed she said "No come back in a minute!" Very Happy Bless her.

Before we left we both sat down and asked the girls if we were allowed a cuddle. Biggie came and sat on my knee, sucked her thumb and cuddled right up to me. I could've stayed there forever, my first real cuddle Very Happy Very Happy Little one wasn't as keen so she went to FC but FC put her on my knee too and she was happy to have a cuddle then. Daddy came to sit with us all and cuddled all 3 of his girls and FC tok our first family photo together.

All in all it has been an amazing day. We had been prepped not to expect much as they can be very shy to begin with so we are just overwhelmed with how they have responded to us. I really didn't want to leave them and can't wait to get back there tomorrow now. We are shattered but every little bit of heartache over the past few years has just been so worth it for today!!!! A memory for life. We got plenty of photos too!

There is no doubt about it, these are our daughters Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy xxxxx

Hi Becky

Great to read how meeting your daughters for the first time went, such a special day Smile

Nothing can prepare you for this time, you have worked so long and hard to get here and you can never know how that first meeting will go but it sounds as though the FC has done a really good job in preparing the girls.

Enjoy every moment.

Sorry can barely type as can't see for the tears of joy and happiness....WOW another family and another happy ending...honestly I am bursting with emotion from your beautiful post!!! I didn't get these feelings at all when I met little D but they came later just as strong. However this adoption lark weaves its way through our lives I have never read a story yet that hasn't proved to me that sometimes we are simply meant to meet our children through adoption. Its takes a long time to become brave enough to take that step but like you say.....every bit of the heartache was worth it. Your girls are very very lucky and so are you and their daddy!!

SOOOOO pleased for you and thank you for posting....it has made my day!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get some sleep now.

Thanks princess, I have found finding the time to visit the bb quite difficult lately since the children were placed and now after six months off work I have gone back to work full time and so am finding it even more difficult

Hi,

Thank you for all your lovely replies! What a week it has been. We are half way through our intros now and all going really well. We've had lots of days out on our own with them, singing at the top of their voices in the car, giggles at bath time and lots of cuddles over bedtime stories but we've also experienced temper tantrums, tears and playing Mummy off against Daddy!!!! Very Happy Very Happy The FC have told us it's good that the girls are showing this side too as they are obviously at ease with us and feel they can play up for us. The FC are being amazing and really stepping back so we are able to take controll.

We have been staying in a hotel all week as they live a long way from us but we've come home tonight as they are coming to our house for the first time tomorrow so we've loaded the car up with lots of their toys so they can have some familliar things there for them when they visit tomorrow. We have stayed every night since day 2 for bath and bedtime so it was awful leaving them today! Sad Biggie was crying as we left because she wanted us to stay, I felt horrid leaving and feel empty now we don't have them with us. Really can't wait until they come home for good.

Will let you all know how next week goes, they are coming to our house everyday now until placement day. xxx

Becky,

How utterly wonderful Very Happy

Just had to wipe away my tears so I could type a reply. Sounds like you and DH and your girls have had an amazing week. I agree that children need to feel secure with you to play up, as odd as it sounds. Enjoy those tantrums as it shows they know you're always going to be there.

Have a happy day tomorrow. Bet DH is really looking forward to Father's Day this year!

Becky the week or so of formal introductions is such a hard time for all concerned...I just can't describe what the final drive away from the FC's house is like and do it justice but the whole time is full on emotion. I still have the phots of little D asleep in his brand new pushchair in our hall way on his first full day at our house during intros and it makes me feel so weird as it reminds me he wasn't always here.

I can't tell you enough times to really look after yourself during this week, you will carry your childrens emotions on some level forever now and you need to respect your own needs to unburden. I have to say that singing in the back of the car is great therapy so it sounds like you will all be just fine!!!

Enjoy your girls.

Hope this week goes well and they will be home with Mummy and Daddy very soon.
