Meant to say that, our parents & sisters know our news and so do some of our close friends & just my manager at work - going to announce it to one and all after next weeks scan Smile

I know it's a way to go for us but has anyone thought about whether they are going to find out the sex of the baby at the 20 wk scan or not ??

Morning All,

Anne - sorry to hear you've not been well, hope the IBS settles down soon. I've been using tiger balm (rubbed on temples) for headaches at night so I don't have to take paracetamol.

Caz - what's the screening scan for?

I think we'll wait to find out the sex but haven't discussed it yet. It's always been deflating for me when people have known what they're having cos there's no surprise. Plus we don't like pink so wouldn't be decorating a nursery pink incase of a girl anyway! Am checking the post now for my midwives appointment. Just want to see Bean again and get the ball rolling.

Today I'm off swimming. The pool should be open now and I'm hoping to book my gym orientation today too. I'm so looking forward to it, it seems like it's been ages since I did anything other than walk!
Right, enough of listening to my husband snore (the joys of night work heh?) I'm off downstairs to get my stuff ready and wash the pessary casings away so I don't leave them behind in the pool Laughing

The list's coming along nicely too.

Lottie - 8-2-12
Blueberry - 8-2-12
Spacebadger - 12-2-12
Crisi - 3-2-12
Caz1234 - 1-2-12. Next scan 15th July
Anniejohn - 30-1-12. Next scan 20th July

Hi all

Hope you feel better soon anniejohn.

We hadn't discussed whether or not to find out the sex of the baby but we've been asked twice in two days (three if you include on here!) what we're going to do and we are thinking we will find out. This seems to surprise people because they have said don't I want it to be a surprise as that is all that there is left to not know, but I don't feel like I need it to be a surprise if that makes sense. I am so excited at the thought of having a child, I don't mind which sex it is, and it wouldn't be a big problem if we couldn't find out but if we could I think we will find out. We've already decided on a name for a boy and for a girl, we are WAY ahead of ourselves!!!

Does anyone else feel absolutely exhausted? I spent all of week 8 feeling nauseous but that seems to have passed now and now I just feel shattered all the time. I don't know if this is because pregnancy itself is making me feel so tired or whether it's because I'm not sleeping well. I haven't slept properly for nearly a month now, I can go to sleep easily enough but then I wake up at around 4-5am and can't get back to sleep and so when the alarm goes off at 7 I feel wiped out!!

Hope everyone else is doing OK, it's great to be on BB&B Smile

SB

Hi all

How annoying I just lost a really long post, and now haven;t got time to type it all again!

Sorry I have been AWOL, iphone bust and I haven;t had a minute at home or at work to post.

I love the thread - please add me Lottie. I am due 5th Feb (I think), not got a scan date yet, but have my first midwife appointment tomorrow.

Told friends and family at the weekend......a couple of reasons, it was my birthday so seemed nice timing to break the news, plus I was lunching with the girls and didn;t want to lie about reason for not drinking, I have done enough of that over the last 2 years!

We won;t be finding out the sex....we are old fashioned and traditional! The bedroom that will be the nursery is already painted neutral so no need to decorate, we will just need furniture and maybe a border.

How expensive are prams / pushcahris / car seats / travel systems and what not!!!! Its the first time I have needed to look and I am in shock! We will probs get a travel system but I can't beleive how everything seems to be extra when for starters its expensive!!!

eeek, wanted to write more but I ahve a meeting. will catch up again soon I hope.

take care all

xxxxx

Hello ladies

Have my worry head on, that's why I haven't been posting much. I'm a liitle over 10 weeks now, I have had an awful cold and cough for well over a week. Worried coughing will hurt baby and today with advanced sorry for TMI, bright yellow snot.
Had no symptoms now for a week apart from headaches but think that's de to my cold, had abit of yellowish discharge today and periody pain. Boobies aren't even really sore anymore.
I have read that from 10 weeks symptoms can start to decrease due to hormones levelling out so I'm clinging on to that hope....

Really scared, I have my scan next Tuesday and I'm petrified ..... PMA DESPERATELY NEEDED!!!!

Anyone elses symptoms going yet???

Sorry really didn't want to be the first to be a worry head on here, but your advice is most important to me as your going through it.

Take care

Sally xxxx

Good morning,

SB - My tip for getting back to sleep is to receite the times tables, starting with the 2's. Don't let your mind wander and don't stress if you don't get the numbers right first time. Try and visualise the numbers too. Works for me everytime and stops me thinking about other stuff.

CGW - I've not really looked at prams properly but definitely want a system that does up to 3years old. Kiddicare have a huge showroom at Peterborough which we'll pay a visit to so we can have a look at them all. Haven't seen many I like yet though.

Sally - My boobs stopped hurting once I changed my bras and if I were you I'd be pleased the nausea has stopped. I seem to have good days and bad days. My book says once the heartbeat's been seen and you're past week 8 that you are less likely to lose it so please try to stop worrying. Have you talked to your DP/Mum about it? Share the worry and you might feel a bit better.

AFM - had a great swim yesterday at the new pool. (see Pods in Scunthorpe if bored) Didn't want to get out but forced myself after 40mins gentle swimming, have to do crawl legs and b/stroke arms due to dodgy knee, and do backstroke. Gym re-orientation Sat afternoon. So good to be back bobbing about in a pool.
Best go,
Take care,
Lx

Hi all,
Sorry for my absence, been really poorly - woke at 4am Tuesday with bad pains - went to docs and I have got a nasty urinary tract infection - been in a bit of pain with it, got anti biotics and been off work - am feeling a little better this afternoon Sad
Looks like so far my due date is first Shocked I am likely to be earlier too as going to have a planned section this time so baby will probably be with us about mid January instead Smile
We are going to find out what we are having this time - we didn't with Lily & were adamant we didn't want to know but we have so much girls stuff that it will be useful to know if we can use it all or can pass it on to friends Smile

Sb - names already Smile we have a boys name as its the same we chose when we were having Lily in case she was a boy and we still both really like it Smile girls names, I like quite a few but DH and I have different ideas there so
have decided to not think about that too much until we know what we are having ! I am too having trouble sleeping & feeling shattered so you are not alone there !!

Sallyanne - hope your feeling better today Hun. Scan is less than. Week now hun so not long to go Smile, I am getting excited about mine but also nervous too Shocked My symptoms are still coming and going, they did till I was about 14 weeks last time - I am still really tired but the nausea is def getting less and less and not every day now !!

Caz - assume it's your dating scan & NT scan you are have on Friday ?? Hope it goes well, do let us know !!

CGW - Hope midwife appt goes well today Smile I felt all official once I was in the system so to speak Smile yes e ergthing is v expensive, we are lucky that we have lots of stuff from first time round, although we still have to replace all of Lily's furniture so we can move the cot bed etc to the babies room ! I did tell DH that I want a new pushchair as don't want this baby having everything second hand of Lilys as she had all new - thought he was going to pass out Laughing We have a mamas and papas travel system - the pliko pramette & have to say it's been fab & may well get the same again but the switch which you can have patent facing ( it wasn't out when we had Lily)

Lottie - Hope your enjoying the swimming - I'll warn you now, kiddicare in Peterborough is massive and I was a bit overwhelmed when we went, almost too much choice. We only live bout 40 mins from there but what I would suggest you do is some research and have some in mind that you want to look at or try as you may just end up walking around and come out none the wiser, which is what we did Shocked

Hello to anyone that I have missed and hope that you are all doing well

Anne xx

Hi All

Sallyanne- bless you, please try not to worry, its not red discharge so stay positive, so sorry you've been poorly! Hang on in there until your scan.

Anniejohn - another unwell lady! Oh dear! We had a sneaky look in mama's and papa's the other week and I liked the "zoom".

Lottie - aaah, I have seen the kiddicare website but didn;t know there was a showroom!

I feel a list coming on for things we definitely need, things that are "optional", and nice to have luxuries......as this is my first can I be cheeky and ask Annie to start us off with things she will definitley have again with baby number 2?????? And things that were a waste of time/momey?

DP has his DD but that was 18 years ago and a lot has changed, he was surprised with all the paperwork I came back with from the midwife!! he has opinions on some baby paraphenalia that he thinks is a waste, but I told him that I will obviously listen to his advice, but he has to realise its my first time.....so may go overboard a little lol!!!

Did any of you get to hear the baby's heartbeat at your midwife appointment?? I thought I would but she said she might not be able to hear it so she didn;t want to try in case it worried me. I thought it was a cop out TBH, but I wasn;t too bothered as I have the 6 & 8 week scan piccies so I know baby is there! I would have probably been a bit gutted if I hadn;t though as really thats the first chance to know that there is a little life in there!
Anyway, she seemed nice enough. She kept on and on about breast feeding even though I made it clear i was all for it, she kept bringing it up!

Hope sallyanne and annijohn are feeling 100% soon.
I have been lucky so far that I haven;t suffered any sickness, still the only symptom is the boobs!
One of my friends is predicting a boy with not having had any sickness (some sicentific expanation for it which made sense to me)!!

Speak soon

x

CGW

Am happy to do a list of things we found useful and worth the money and what we found was a complete waste of time - i'll get my thinking cap on Smile

My midwife didnt attempt to listen to our beans heartbeat, i dont think they usually do till around the 16 week mark if i remember rightly as it can be very difficult to find if not impossible this early on as they are so small Smile

My midwife asked about breastfeeding once and right at the end of the appt, almost as if she had forgotten - she asked if i was going to and i said "no" - her response surprised me for a midwife as she said "good for you. Its your baby and you feed it how you want to but dont tell the breastfeeding police i said that" - did make me chuckle !

Symptoms wise etc has been the same as when i was PG with Lily, DH is convinced we are going to have another girl and its his destiny to be surrounded by women - Laughing but who knows hey, could fool us and be a boy Smile

Love Anne x

Good afternoon All,

How are we all, looking forward to the weekend?

Annie - I'm not sure whether you've mentioned it before or not (and if it's not too personal) how come you have got to have a c-section? Thanks for the Kiddicare tip too, I have been looking and making a note of the ones I like in my diary. It'll take us a good hour 30mins to get there but reckon that because I'm so picky that it'll be worth the trip.

CGW - I hate to say that my Sis had bad MS with both her boy & girl. I started with it early too, which is why I thought I might have twins cos supposedly it's one of the signs. A friend told me about Kiddicare Showroom, not been before as this will be my first.

Sally - how are you doing today?

AFM - Yesterday started with me dashing to the loo at work wretching - that's the last time I give my body what it wants! Marmalade on toast & a huge mug of decaf tea which i accidentally sloshed too much milk into which is probably what did it. I abhore milky tea Smile
Tomorrow is my gym induction but I just feel like going swimming as back is sore again today - must be sleeping funny. Was out picking mint at 7.30am for mint & cucumber yoghurt to go on falaffal stuffed pittas - very yummy lunch.

Dont you just hate it when you've been told your boss will leave early and then they don't??? I didn't post this morning as thought I'd have all afternoon to post but he's still here so no internet browsing and no more wittering on here.

Hope everyone else is fine. Let me know any more dates and I'll add you to the list.

Take care,

Hi everyone

I have managed to read your post first this time LottieH, no cross-posting this time around!! That lunch does sound really yummy Smile And I know exactly what you mean, my boss is off today though hurray!!

AFM - Well I have had a crappy couple of weeks, first my cousin died in a climbing accident (he was only 24) and then my DH's Uncle died a couple of days later (after a long illness) so we are attending two funerals in less than a week. But I am trying to stay strong and calm for the little bean, don't want him/her to experience grief just yet!

Apart from that all going well, got my 12 week scan appointment at Liverpool Women's Hospital on 26th July. I will be 11 and a half weeks then so close enough. I am not feeling sick all the time anymore but I do still have the odd retching moment, it's very attractive!!! Am also feeling v v tired, and if I don't eat every couple of hours I get a bit woozy so I have to make sure I have lots of healthy snacks around.

I have been cycling to work quite a bit and it feels better to be doing something active after all that wrapping in cotton wool during the IVF cycle and 2WW, but I can't believe how many people think I shouldn't be cycling 'in my condition'- when did exercise and being a healthy pregnant woman become a bad thing?!

Anniejohn - I know, what are we like having names already?! We just started talking about it once (one of those times when you just need to talk about it all to stop you going mad) and before we knew it we had realised we liked the same names. If it is a boy we are going to name him after my DH's Uncle who has passed away so we made sure he knew that before he died, he was really chuffed apparently Smile

Hope everyone is doing well, only 2 more weeks of the dreaded pessaries for me WOOHOO!!!!!

SB
xx

Just a quicky as have to do dishes before heading to the gym.

SB - Am so sorry about your recent losses, condolenses to you and your DH.
I know exactly how you feel about the exercise thing. My DH doesn't think I should be going to the gym today - I have told him countless times that a) I do not want to get fat and b) staying fit and doing moderate exercise will mean an easier labour according to the books!

My paperwork arrived yesterday and my midwives appointment is on Friday at local primary school (I think). So pleased to be going to the next level Smile

Anyway, must dash, dishes to do etc.

Hugs to all,

Hi ladies
Thought I had better check in.......on my holiday in Cornwall at the mo!!
Had my screening scan and blood tests last Friday for downs and Edwards syndrome....went well came out with the odds of 1 in 50,000 for both so I think that's good!! Got to see jelly tot again, which was lovely, only a few days till I reach the 12 week mark which will be another mile stone achieved!
How is everyone feeling?
I still have waves of nausea on and off.....still can't face tea which was my favourite drink!
Not seeing the midwife again till I am 16 weeks...... How is everyone fnding their midwife? She was very nice....gave me a lecture on breast feeding as soon as I went through the door which I found amusing!!
Anyway I am waffling now....hope everyone is well

Hi All!

Sallyanne - hope your scan goes well tomorrow - please keep us posted.

Anniejohn - are you fully recovered now? Get your cap on for the list! Another list I thought of is one for hospital bag......I read something about two bags, one for the labour ward and one for after, would one bag not be enough!!!

Lottie - Kiddicare is a long trip for us, but I might have to make the effort nearer the time. I saw a sterliser in Mothercare that was hald price, but it just feels too early to be buying anything, but its such a shame when there are sales on everywhere.....!!

Spacebadger - sorry to hear about your bad news thats awful, it never rains but it pours! Your scan date is the same as mine! I will be 12 weeks 2 days on mine! Also can't wait to say goodbye to the pessaries, i am down to one morning and evening, next week it will just be the evening one.

As for baby names.....well we looked online at the weekend and wrote a list of ones we both thought were "possibles". I thought we had agreed on a boys name but now DP is backtracking!!! We are finding girls names easier but still difficult. If its a girl DP wants to use the same middle name as his daughter - which she would love - but I don;t want to choose a first name just on the basis that it goes ok with the middle name! Its a minefield Smile

Still not told anyone at work apart from my boss and a girl who works for me. Its a hard one - do you just randomly announce it, or work it into conversation? I tried the latter, and it totally went over the persons head and I don't think it registered what I said!!!

Anyway, better get on with some work

speak soon

Hello ladies,

SB sorry to hear of your losses, take care Hun.

Anniejohn, hope you are feeling better, and absolutely good fr you re breast feeding and a real life midwife who doesnt put pressure on you ........ Crikey!

CGW glad everything is going well for you Hun, we have talked about baby names for a while as it's about the only thing I feel brave enough to do.

Caz, congratulations on your scan, another massive hurdle jumped.
Lot tie, I bet the swimming is quite relaxing, do you know if we are allowed to go in steam rooms???

Well it's D day or us tomorrow, 12 week scan and tests etc. I won't be 12 weeks so quite an early one for NHS. I feel quite positive but don't really feel pregnant, I suppose the give away signs I do ave are huge nipples and veiny boobies, a cold I cannot shift, been over two weeks now!!!! Headaches don't know if that's my cold though, at least coughing has stopped because was really starting to worry I was tearing my uterus r something when I coughed so much... I do ave abit of a pregnant tummy that starts to come out from under my boobies but could be pesseries but don't feel half as bloated as I did a few weeks ago mst be my body getting used to them.
Any way I'll post when I can tomorrow, really nervous lady as last time I went to a 12 week scan baby had died weeks before...

Hey Ladies Smile

Caz - Glad you're having a good holiday and screening/scan results were good too. I have decaf PG tips which seems to be ok with the nausea - it's your bodies way of keeping you off caffeine.

CGW - You'll have to wait for the sales later in the year. I keep looking at maternity clothes and wondering if I should stock up now - mind you, my Sis saved me hers which I'll get in August so will wait til after that to buy more I think.

Sally - No steam rooms allowed or saunas. Something to do with raising internal body temp. Good luck with scan tomorrow. Let us know how you get on.

Can I have some advice please. On Saturday I bought some peach in custard pots, ate one earlier, then noticed as washing pot for recyling it's use by date was 15-07-11! Now feel awful, have google searched and not sure if I've done any harm or not. Can't tell if nausea is caused by that, MS or atmospheric pressure fluctuations (which give me a headache as well Sad ) Could I have harmed my little bean? I'll check the other pots when I get home tonight!

Best go,
Hugs to all,

Hi ladies

hope you and your growing bumps Smile are doing well - lots of lovely posts to catch up on Smile

Lottie - its not too personal at all, I had a pretty horrible & traumatic delivery with Lily which ended in an emergency c-section. This time i am opting for an elective section for a number of reasons and midwife has already advised that she would recommend it and I know my consultant with as she delivered Lily. Hope the wretching is better, last pregnancy I went off tea more because i couldn't stand the milk ! Dont worry too much about the custard, i ate a tuna pasta salad pot from Asda when i was PG with Lily and it was 3 days out of date (worst thing was had just purchased it in the store and ate half before i realised) Asda were good and it turns out some old stock had been left on the shelf - I had no ill effects from it Smile

SB - am sorry to hear about your recent losses - hope you and DH are both okay ! Not long till your scan now Smile Exercise in pregnancy is good for you as long as you take it easy and if its something that you have always done, dont listen to other people !

Caz - glad that your scan went well and the results were good Smile I'm not feeling too bad, still tired but the constant nausea is backing off a bit now and only get it now if i go too long without eating. I too dont see the midwife till 16 weeks now, should get to hear the heartbeat then. My midwife is nice and is not a member of the "breastfeeding police" (her words not mine Laughing) so dont think i will get any hassle there for not BF. Hope you are enjoying Cornwall Smile

CGW - Will do a list and post tomorrow Smile Am feeling better now thanks, back to work today Sad I did take two bags to hospital but one was for me and had all my pre and post labour stuff and i had a separate one for baby, with vests, babygrows, nappies, cotton wool etc in. I am waiting till after my scan to tell people at work, to be honest i dont think it will come as much of a shock as I have got a tummy on me now and have been walking around trying to hold it in Smile

Sallyanne - good luck for tomorrow hun and look forward to hearing all about it. Its understandable that you are nervous, would expect you to be with your past experience but am sure all will be fine Smile I have huge nipples and veiny boobs too - DH even commented on it Shocked I definately look PG now and am still desperately trying to hide it at work Shocked

AFM - cant believe that i am 12 weeks tomorrow, am getting excited about seeing little bean on Wednesday but am nervous too - feel more nervous than last time and not sure why Shocked I definately look PG now, think because my body has done it already its just popping out more quickly - all my friends that have had more than one have said they were showing alot quicker the 2nd time round ! Will be nice to get the scan out the way and tell people as its getting more difficult to hide now too Shocked

love to you all

Anne x
