hi all,

Sorry not been on for ages.
Sam am glad all turned out well for you, we were offered the nuchal test but decided against it in the end as we didn't want to worry and it would make absolutely no difference to us anyway.

Hope everyone else is OK.

I see the midwife again on Monday and my 20 week scan is 30th Dec. That is also when I meet the consultant. I have a strong family history of still births at 38 weeks so will need to discuss possible early inducement.

I can't beleive how big my bump is, have had to go into maternity clothes as nothing else fits. A woman at work is 25 weeks pregnant and shes not much bigger than me, am sure my baby is going to be born weighing at least a stone. ha ha. Laughing Am absolutely loving it tho especially now symptoms have resolved and I feel really well, my skin is amazingly clear and my hair is so shiny.

Anyone else having really wierd dreams, I keep dreaming about people I haven't seen for years and years. Wierd!!!!!!!!! Confused

Anyway must get off.

Sorry its long and waffly.

Take care everyone.

Hi LTJ,

Yay for being past the crappy part! I too am feeling more human, apart from insomnia! Yes, to the vivid dreams...again about people I hardly know...even a few naughty ones Smile I woke up cringing lol

I bought my mat clothes last weekend, I'm showing at 14 weeks...is that normal? I had the 12 week nuchual scan, it was neg. It wasn't my choice but in the u.s I'm considered a high risk pregnancy due to hypothyroidism....crap isn't it. Everything was OK, but like you we wouldn't have been bothered if they offered the choice. They have also offered a 16 week neural tube blood test next week, hhis checks for Spina Bifida, but we're going yo turn it down.

Take care

Hi Ladies,

LTJ - glad you feeling better and over the crappy feeling! No weird dreams for me I've been absolutely crashing out still on a night can't remember dreaming at all! I take it you will discuss options like an early planned c-section with the consultant at you 20w scan?

Dizzee - I'm now around 13 weeks and am starting to struggle with certain clothes, think this is normal! My work trousers are all way too tight and I'm onto using hair bobbles to do up jeans Smile Ordered some maternity clothes from the web last weekend, should be here this week. I'm web shopping as I live in the coutryside miles from shops and couldn't face a long drive to get to a town with maternity clothes!

Its worse on baby 2+ I think - two girls at work are expecting their second and fourth and both started showing about 9/10 weeks. The lady on her fourth is only 16/17 weeks and has quite a considerable bump already Smile

Hope everyone else is well

xxx

Evening ladies

Sam Im so pleased that the scan was fine and your little bean is well. I bet you're having a lovely time in Lanzarote

Phoenix - I was on 400mg twice daily of the pessaries and hurrah I'm finally off them and the oestrogen tablets now. Scan was fine on Monday and Im measuring 13 weeks and 1 day which is ahead of where we should be so I may have my EDD changed as well. They dont do the NT scans at my local hospital either but are currently training the staff. I do wonder if we are going to have our babies at the same hospital. Have you had your booking appointment yet?

LTJ - OMG your 20 week scan will soon be happening. In view of your family history, surely the hospital will monitor you closely. I'm sure you will find out more when you see the consultant

Dizzee - glad to hear you are finally starting to feel better. I know what you mean about the insomnia. Is your next scan at 20 weeks the same as here?

3w - glad to hear the scan went well! I'm so happy for you Smile And the 2nd trimester means we can all hopefully chill out! I definitely feel a lot more relaxed now than in the first few weeks. I do wonder whether we are in a similar area. I was at Manchester Care like you but live quite a distance away from Manchester.

xx

Hi all,

Glad to hear everyone is well and doing OK. I am definately more relaxed now past 12 week scan and as each week passes. Very Happy

I started to wear maternity wear about 12 weeks as things bit tight and thought it was a waste to just buy bigger size.

Some of my odd dreams are a bit naughty too. Embarassed I do struggle to drop off as I'm used to sleeping on my front but there is no way I can do that now!! I need a hole cut out of my mattress. Laughing I also have to get up numerous times for the toilet. Rolling Eyes

I am taking 2 of my neices out tonight to see Roald Dahls BFG at our local theatre. They are 7 and 14 so am looking froward to that I love the BFG book and am prob more excited than the girls. lol.

Has anyone else managed to convince DH that they can't do certain things now they are pregnant? I know its naughty but I have managed to convince DH that I can't possilbly hoover as the hoover is too heavy, so far it has worked and I haven't hoovered since Aug. I feel very slightly guilty whe I am sat with my feet up and he is pushing hoover round, but it soon passes. lol

Must go and write some xmas cards!

Stay well and take care everyone.

Hi All,

I am back from sunny Lnazarote, with a nice healthy tan. No problems since the week before and while I was away I was brave and weaned myself off the pessaries, with no side effects, I am still sure it was a phantom period. So next time I hopefully won't panic as much.

I am gald you are all doing well and hopefully starting to feel better. I am feeling great and I am really starting to enjoy it and believe it. It takes a long time to start believing it doesn't it.....

I went away with some friends this weekend and managed to get masses of baby gear offered to me! 2 car seats, a crib, moses basket, clothes, baby bath etc! At this rate I am not going to have to spend a penny! Result! My thinking is there will be so much to spend our money on, that I will take whatever is offered. That is the beauty of being the last in a group to have babies, they don't need it anymore.

Hehehehe! Yes I have convinced DH that I can't do anything, although I was pretty lazy anyway and he is great around the house. If you can't take advantage now, when can you.

I pretty much went straight into maternity clothes, after the ET I felt so bloated and tender that I couldn't bear anything on my waist, so I bought a few jersey dresses, and I have been in them ever since. My summer clothes were a bit snug, but I had lost quite a bit of weight to start the IVF, so it was ok. I'm not sure what I am going to wear to my Chrsitmas party on friday night...it is black tie!

I am really looking forward to Christmas, I hope you all are too.

xxxx

hi Sam,
glad you had a good holiday. you're right it does take a long time to believe.

I too have had loads of stuff offered and am also of the thinking take all that is offered, My sis in law has offered me a travel system that she used twice, a baby gym/playmat and has said she has a cupboard full of stuff for me to help myself to. A friend from work has given me a bouncy chair and someone else a travel cot. Am also the last in my group of friends to have a baby so lots on offer.

I am lucky our xmas party on Sat is in a pub in town so am wearing sequinned leggings and a dress from George (asda) maternity with sparkly jewellery, will be bit wierd not drinking as almost everyone else meeting for cocktails at 6pm!!! I am designated driver again but surprisingly so far have not really missed alcohol!

I saw the midwife again yesterday and thought it was just a blood pressure check, wee dip etc so went alone and then we listened to the heart beat, felt really guilty that DH wasn't there. Made it all feel very real and couldn't stop smiling most of the day. 20 week scan on 30th Dec.

Must go and get some sleep or will be good for nothing tomorrow. glad all is well with you. Very Happy

Ah it must be lovely to hear the heartbeat. I can't wait to feel it kick, nor can DH. He has not really believed it until the three month scan and that was such a nightmare that he hasn't really had the chance to enjoy it, or see any evidence that it is real, so I really want him to hear the heartbeat or have a happy scan!

Enjoy your Xmas party! It has been so long since I have had a proper drink that I think I am used to it now. I just tried on my black dress from last year and as I lost weight for IVF it actually still fits (with a noticeable bump), it will only be my best friend that will notice and who cares about that! Surprised)

Have fun xx

Hi Ladies,

LTJ - hope the BFG was good and your neices enjoyed it - its one of my favourite Roald Dahl books Smile DH has been a star recently with the housework, did the whole house this weekend for me! He also cooked last night - cauliflower cheese which is my favourite at the moment! Glad your appointment with the midwife went well yesterday. Are you finding out the gender at the 20w scan?

Hope you have a good Christmas party. Ours is in the office this year as the black tie ball has been moved to May, budget constraints I think (last time they did that they then postponed to the following Christmas to get out of paying for one for a whole year!). It does make it easier though as I don't need to get anything fancy to wear.

Sam - glad you had a good holiday and have come home relaxed! Good that your party dress fits from last year, there isn't much maternity choice for black tie. Hope you have a nice time. I doubt I'll go to the ball in May, won't be much fun at 8months + so should avoid the issue!

That's excellent you've had all that equipment offered, should save you a fortune. We'll be buying most I think. My friends are all still on baby 1 so retaining their baby things. DH sister has 3 boys but youngest is now 4 so most of her stuff has already gone Smile

I'm really looking forward to Christmas too, so excited for a couple of weeks off relaxing! We may start baby stuff shopping too which will be amazing...

I'm at the MW on Friday so should hear heartbeat then really looking forward to it! I may also book for a private gender scan on 17th Dec, but need to check with DH. We might wait to NHS anomoly scan on 19th Jan to find out!

Hope everyone has a good week and enjoys the Christmas party season x

Hello all!

Sorry I haven't been on for a while. So pleased to hear you are all doing so well. Have just spent 20 mins having a massive catch up reading all your posts.

I was at Care Nottingham and was advised to take my last pessary at 11w 6d. Came off them with no problems at all and was such a relief as I work shifts and was becoming really difficult trying to juggle shifts and pessaries.

I have been so lucky and haven't suffered with any sickness, only tiredness which still hasn't really subsided.
I am 15w 3d at the moment and I look like I've swallowed a beach ball! I'm normally a size 6 so suppose it was inevitable with twins Smile Have been in maternity clothes (particularly jeans) since about 8 weeks. My bump seems to have grown massively in the last week though.

And you probably all don't want to know this, but my boobs have started leaking milk already?? What the hell?!

We've had our dating scan at 13w 1d only to be told that a consultant had to do the nuchal scan. Then the midwife 10 mins later said that the sonographer could have done it. They then had to rush us an appt before 14 weeks which in the end...... was with a midwife! eh?
Anyway we we're also told that we couldn't have the bloods to accompany the scan because we are having twins, but when i had the nuchal scan they said I could...... hmmmm faith in the NHS maternity care hasn't got off to a good start BUT I'm sure things will improve.
Got midwife and consultant next week and 20 weeks scan on 9th Jan. Very excited!

I was very paranoid early on in the pregnancy so bought a heartrate doppler monitor from amazon. It was just a cheap one for around £25 called 'Angel Sounds'. It works great and I can find both the twins heart beats with ease. I definatley recommend it, although I've been warned by a GP friend not to use more than once a week.

Again glad you are all doing so well and am looking forward to sharing the rest of the journey with you all Smile

Evening ladies

lovely to see that everyone is ok.

Hi f&t - not long til you start your next cycle of treatment. Will have everything crossed for you. I'm 15 weeks now and its only just sinking in. I still feel that I can't let my guard down but I'm hoping the further I get, that it will get easier (although I'm convinced I'll worry for the whole of the pregnancy).

Babydoo - glad your little twinnies are doing well. I wasn't sure how soon women started to produce milk in pregnancy. Maybe its earlier if you're having twins?

Phoenix - I bet it was lovely hearing your little ones heartbeat and very reassuring. You are not going to believe this but when I had my dating scan, they moved my EDD to 3rd June too and my anomaly scan is on 19th Jan. How spooky is that.

I don't see my midwife again til 3rd Jan and hope she puts a bit more effort in than last time as I wasn't impressed

Dizzee are you ok?

Babydoo - glad all is going well! A friend of my DH is expecting IVF twins, she's about 23w and is pretty huge - you're carrying twice the amount so I suppose its bound to happen. I think you can expect to leak milk early doors with twins too as there are twice the hormone levels!

I'm 15w3d now too and also into maternity stuff - I'm usually an 8/10 can still get in some of my 10s but the 8s are long gone Smile but not really showing as 'pregnant' yet. DH and I can tell but lots of other people can't unless I've something tight on. I'm expecting to have a rapid expansion up to 20w though!

3w - how spooky that's very weird!! We'll have to see if our LO arrive per NHS dates or original IVF ones! I'm hoping for the 03 June just can't wait to meet baby Smile I'm sure it is all getting a lot more real for you now hun - you should get to hear HB on 03 Jan - it's amazing!

Me - DH bought a 'Baby's First Year' book at work today, with gaps for photos/info on their first year! It's so exciting, and so sweet of DH - he is massively looking forward to being a Dad, this is first baby for us both! He was in the marines till he was 27, then met me at 30 - we've been together 11 years in Jan. He'd been wanting to try for a while but I was at Uni then doing my ACA accountancy training plus we were building our house, then we were delayed by me needing a Lletz tx, then the IF struck. But we're on the road now feel so so lucky Smile

Hi all,

I have just come back from my 16 week midwife appointment and all is well, I heard the hert beat, which was wonderful. It took her some time to find it and I started to get a bit scared as everytime we have had a check so far something has gone wrong, but all was well today! Yaya!

Phoenix, that is lovely that DH is so excited. My DH keeps putting his head on my bump and talking to it, he can't wait to feel it kick, but I think that is a long way off yet. Has anyone felt the baby/ies move yet? They say you can start to feel it at 16 weeks, but it is later for first timers.....I can't wait.

I am going to start my xmas wrapping now. Bye for now.

x x

Hi guy's,

Sorry I haven't been on for a while....been so busy with Xmas looming. Sam like you and some of the other guy's I have had my 16w appointment, HB fine so that's another mile stone! I still worry like mad though Smile When are people going to start baby shopping??

Lovely to hear about the cute things people are buying like dopplers or baby books...I wouldn't mind both! Getting to be quite a fatty now, we and truly in maternity clothes! Oh well best be off.

Take care Dizzee xxx

Hi Girls!

Sam - glad all was well at the midwife the HB is amazing isn' t it! I'm seeing mine tomorrow for the 16w appointment, DH coming with me given we're now both off for Christmas.

Bet your DH will be thrilled when he can feel baby moving! I've not felt anything at all yet but this is quite normal with 1st timers, and can also depend on the position of the placenta - if this is at the front you might not feel anything til 28w apparently!

Dizzee - glad your MW appointment went well too! DH and I are going to baby shop in the Jan sales, although just for big stuff given we aren't finding the flavour till 20w scan.

Me - well busy getting ready for Christmas but off this week hurrah! Need to do some serious visiting this week and drop pressies/cards off.

Had my hair done yesterday for Xmas not sure I like it. Had highlights with a new hairdresser and its a bit stripey and very blonde...DH likes but I'm sensitive about my hair and not adventurous so he probably daren't say anything but haha Smile Oh well might be an excuse to get it done again a bit sooner than normal!

Hope everyone has a lovely Xmas xx
