Hi Ladies
I wonder if anyone can offer any advise please.
We successfully adopted our beautiful baby girl who has been with us now for just over 3 years and everything has been fantastic.
Birth Mother has had another child a full sibling to DD, this baby has now had a Placement Order granted and we have been approached to see if we would like him placed with us - obviously we would love to have him however, I have also been advised that the Foster Carer he is with, has also expressed an interest to adopt him.
Does anyone know what are the chances of her getting him? My understanding is that generally they like siblings placed together and that we would be their first port of call, however I am really concerned that as the FC wants to adopt him and he has been with her for the last 10 months that she will be bonding with him and she will win over us.
I understand completely it is all about the child, however as we have his full sibling in our DD we would dearly love to have him so they are together.
Does anyone have any experience of this please? I wonder if anyone could offer me any advice?
Also, going through the adoption process with our DD we went through a private agency and had the fullest support whereas this is all through the local authority and Social Services and it is taking so long and communication is not great and I feel we don't have the support we had the first time.
Thanks so much in advance for any replies.

Pip from my understanding the SW's would be wanting to place siblings together if possible - so I think you are right in thinking you are the first port of call. When we were first matched with a little one we were told there would possibly another sibling in later years and we would be the first people they would come to if we were adopters of the first sibling.
I think you have a strong case - these things do take time - good luck hun.

Yes, they prefer if possible to place siblings together so you are their first port of call and stand a good chance.
I would urge someone at SS to get a move on though if FC wants to adopt him as when he has been with FC for 12 months FC can apply direct to court to adopt the child. Whether this would be granted is down to a lot of factors but it would cause huge delays for you all.
Good luck
