I just wondered if anyone wanted to join me? AF arrived today and I'm starting the long protocol in approx 3 weeks, so will be cycling Jan/Feb time. Anyone want to keep me company? I thought I'd start a new thread to see if anyone is trying for number 2+

Juleshid - I know we're nearly neck and neck, so we could drive each other mad if you like?

Yay, I won't be a total billy no mates! lol.

Jules, I have everything crossed for you that this is your time.

Sara, I will be about the same time as last time as well, bar a couple of weeks. I just hope if it works that it doesn't come as early as Theo was! Good luck with your appointment at Sheffield, I hope you get to start soon. I think FETs are quicker aren't they?

Gosh, I don't know whether to be excited or not. It seems strange doing it second time around - I've forgotten everything!

Wendy xx

Not posted on here for years and need to try and suss out ticker etc. I was hoping to find some cycle buddies. Smile I too am on a long protocal so start DR on 18th January. It does feel strange 2nd time round. I feel like a newbie to it all. Hope you don't mind me joining.

Hi Anna welcome! I didn't want to go on cycle buddies either - had backlash last year for posting support for a lady who was trying for number 2 when the other cyclers complained about us posting with pictures of our children!

I think my d/r will start 18th too unless they start me on 17th cause my cycle was 27 days not 28. Anyone else know if they start you less than 21 days after af if yourcycle is less than 28 days. When I cycled with Theo my cycle was always 30 days and I think I started d/r 23 or 24 days after af.

It does feel strange doing it again. I'll have to set myself reminders to do jabs cause I bet I'll forget!

Must get on Theo is trying to demolish his pop up tent!

Thanks Wendy for making me feel welcome. Smile Sorry to hear about your problem last year on the cycler board. Great if you are starting the same day. I am afraid I am clueless on short cycles as I have PCOS so can go upto 97 days!!! Mad I am hoping that DR going smoothly for me as on one of my previous cycles I DR for 5 weeks!!!!!!! I was a hormonally nightmare, poor hubby.

I found make the phone for more treatment very strange and our first visit back after DS was very strange. I felt all the old feelings I had before DS.
Think I am going to do mine at 6pm again and may need to set reminders too as since having DS my memory is not so good and also remembering pregnacare plus and metformin. I am going to write in my diary to so that I know I have done them instead of thinking I have.

I laughed when you said you had to rescue the pop up tent from Theo. Zach is always do what he thinks is funny although I may not agree. He likes playing hide and seek with his cars down the back of the sofa.

Sara & Anna - Welcome, to the thread I was about to tell Wendy I didn't know about short cycles as mine are always soooo long like at least 35 days, then I saw Anna's post and thought I'll keep my mouth shut Wink

As for feeling like newbies, I think its very much like riding a bike, once you get used to the annoyance of having to stab yourself everyday you'll be right back in the swing of it :s

I always feel like I'm cheating being down in the "trying again" section but if thats where the people I stalk the most insist on hanging out I will have to just stay put :p

I have my pretreatment scan booked for Tuesday morning, nowt like starting the year with some internal scans and then needles where they are doing my annual virals, joyous! - on the plus side I get to start work late ^^

Juleshid - I used to get very wound up about the cycle length, now I try not to let it get to me. Easier said than done. It is normally around 33 - 47 days now.
I am quite sure once I start the DR madness it wouldn't be long till I remember what the rollercoaster is like.
If you want to hang out in trying again go for it. You need to be where you get most support or know people. Hope your scan goes well.

Sara - hope your appt for your frosties goes well.

Crikey Anne, D/R for 5 weeks, that must have been a shocker. Hope that you don't have to D/R for that long on this cycle. At least the burserlin isn't too expensive! lol.

I was a bit like you when I rang the clinic to make an appointment with Dr Shaker for a review, it was a bit odd really and I was more unsure of what to do this time around than I did first time. The process has changed a bit at Sheffield I think since I cycled last, but I'm sure I'll pick it up again. Think I'm going to have to have a conversation with my childminders to tell them I'm cycling as I may need to drop Theo off at 7am a few mornings when I get going for stimms scans, as you have to be at the clinic for 8ish (mind you there's usually a right queue, so if I'm a few minutes late, it will just mean that I'm at the end of the list!). Hopefully they'll be ok with it, even though it's an early start for them!

Jules, I don't think anyone would think you're cheating, I post on the over 40s threads, but I'm only nearly 37, so I'm totally an interloper there! lol. What is the pre treatment scan for? Is it just to check your bits and pieces are ok? They did a scan for me when I went the week before Christmas (where she couldn't find my left ovary for ages! Lol) and no cysts or anything so that's something I suppose.

I must admit, I'm not looking forward to the injections. I don't mind needles and did all my own injections on previous cycles (obviously as I didn't have anyone else to do them for me), but found that I got more tentative jabbing myself as the cycle went on. I'm sure I'll be ok once I've done the first one at least. I seem to remember the burserlin was worse than the menopur. It's just mixing the menopur that's tricky with the suction on the things and I'm on 4 vials of menopur per day. I can't mess it up either because I've got to pay for it this time and at nearly £80 a shot it's not cheap!

Right, will get off and stop waffling. Sheffield don't open again until Tuesday, so have to wait until then to ring them and give them my dates for AF as until I do, I don't know for definite what day I'll start D/R. Can't wait to get it on the calendar!

Wendy x
p.s. do they book your D/R scan when you start or do you wait until your AF has started after starting D/R and ring them then?

I will be crossing everything for DR for less time. When I start on day 21 I am having provera to bring on a bleed so hope it does the trick or I'll go loopy. I hate the DR as normally have headaches and very hormonal aswell as very tired. Think it is the fact you have to really jab to get the needle in. At least stimming needle goes in easily. On my first and second cycle DH had to do the injections as I was really scared of needles (although I got the feeling he enjoyed it a little too much) so third cycle I had listened to hypnotherapy cds and did all 51 myself. I have got to do them as I figure I may get the same outcome as last time. Wink
Does anyone know when Nottingham is open? I guess possibly tomorrow.

Lol Anna, I think men like the jabbing - maybe it helps them feel useful? I vaguely remember the headaches from D/R, but I think we forget the grim bits or we'd never do it again!

I don't know about Nottingham. Tomorrow is a bank holiday (cause obviously New Year's Day is today and is a Sunday) so they may be shut.

It's all starting to get a bit real!

Did your DS come ontime? I was thinking we were probably due about the same time, but my son came just over 6 weeks early - he was due end of October, but came mid September. How old are you? I'm really feeling that my age is going to be a factor against me this time.

I guess we'll see!

Its weird how all the clinics do things differently - for example Northampton was open between Christmas and New Year, which is how I've booked my scan for tuesday, its just to check my bits and bobs - they always say i have to have it the month I'm due to start DR. The only problem being is it usually ends up in a bit of a stressy rush to get the drugs through.

I had to stop DH doing my jabs as he thought he was on some medical drama where if you jam them in as hard as possible they work better or something ^^ he is now banned, which I sort of feel bad about as its about the only thing he can do to be involved, but its cured me of being nervous about doing them myself.

Wendy - for booking your DR scan just call once your AF has appeared (well thats how Northampton do it)

I just posted a reply and I managed to lose it, oops. I have completely lost track of days at the moment and I forgot today was a bank holiday. Will ring CARE tomorrow.

DH seemed to jab harder on the days I was a hormonally cow. It could be coincidence but the look on his face said he was enjoying it too much so as my last cycle was successful when I did all the jabs I am doing them all again as hoping that is the lucky formula. Wink

Zach was due on 11th of Nov but he had other ideas. He was 3 weeks early and he was born on Wed 21st Oct after my waters went on Monday. I hadn't even started my mat leave oficially as I was meant to finish on that Friday. Was Theo ok being born early?
I am 31 now so I am lucky on the age side of things. I have other issues due to PCOS - too many follicles but not all good in size and some immature eggs. I just have to hope that some respond but not too many or at risk of OHSS and postponed cycle. From all my previous cycles during stimming from about day6 I have felt very bloated and uncomfortable and felt like I want to pop.

Jules - when do you start? What protocal are you on?

Jules, lol at your DH! Hope your scan goes ok tomorrow. The indignaties of IVF eh! When I had my scan I had my trousers off nearly before they'd closed the door. lol. I reckon they've seen it all before.

Anna, so your Zach was a fast cat like Theo - although not quite as fast as Theo. I still had almost 3 weeks left at work. He was fine, I was in labour for nearly 4 days, so I'd had the steroid injections, he just couldn't feed at first (they don't develop suckle reflex until about 36 weeks), so he was tube fed and we were in hospital for almost 2 weeks after he was born and could eat on his own. He had a bit of jaundice, but other than that he was fine. He was 5lb3, so quite good weight for his gestation. You're a spring chicken aren't you! No issue with age for you, unlike me! lol.

Right, have made a note in my diary for tomorrow to ring Care to get my date to start D/R. I think I'll do my jabs at about 9.30pm, cause I put Theo to bed at 7 and by the time I've had my tea and my mum's rung and I've sorted everything out for the day after it will be that time before I can sit down and do my jabs and I've got more chance of being able ot do them at about the same time every day doing that. Must admit I'm not looking forward to it. I think the idea of it is worse than doing it. lol.

Will get off now, going to order some books from t'internet.

Just a quickie ladies, I've rung Care and start D/R on 17th Jan - I was right, they've brought it forward a day from 21 days, so only 20 days. They've also already booked my D/R scan for 30th Jan (apparently they book in advance at Sheffield if you can). The lady thought I'd probably start stimms approx 1st Feb, which means E/C probably week of 13th Feb. Aarrgghhh! So excited and nervous.

Yikes.

Right, must get on, I've hardly done any work yet this morning - difficult to get my brain into gear after 2 lovely weeks off!

Well <insert multiple expletives here>!

Had my scan today, apparently I have a 4 cm cyst on my right ovary so there will be no starting this month for me. I have to wait till next month and try again. Not even allowed to get my protocol or order my drugs.

It's all such a pain in the bum and a bit of an anti climax, had myself all psyched up and ready to go.

Wendy - glad you've got all your dates sorted, I like the booking it all in advance, gives some nice targets Smile

Oh Jules, what a bummer, isn't that just typical! Do cysts just come and go then? I've never had any, so am not sure if they tend to stick around or not. Sounds like a right pain in the bum. I got my protocol from Sheffied before I went to my appointment before Christmas, then paid for them that day. I ought to call tomorrow actually cause they did an anti bodies test (for my thyroid) so I need to know if Dr Shaker thinks I need any immune drugs, although I'm not convinced about them to be honest.

Is there anything you can do to make the cyst go? I'm gutted for you, was hoping to be jabs buddies!

Hope you'll stick around though and we will pick up with you when you start next month - and you never know, Anna might still be down regging - tee hee!

Jules - Really sorry to read about your scan and cyst. Sad That is very disappointing. It takes alot to go through treatment so it would be nice if things run smoothly. Do they hope on your next bleed it will go??? I don't know too much about them.
I hope you get to start as soon as possible and I may still be DR as Wendy says although I hope not as I will be a mad cow! Evil or Very Mad

Wendy - I rang CARE today and I start on 18th as I thought so you will be a day ahead. I have my meds coming on Thursday. DS had to go back into hospital when he was 15 days as he got more jaundice each day. He was there 2 days then back home.

Jackie, thanks for dropping by, I really hope it works out as well! I'm not sure how I feel about it, part of me is excited and another part of me is really worried in case it doesn't work. I'm no different to any other woman who starts IVF in that I know, but it feels like a last chance saloon this time, as I only have 2 goes max (only have 2 straws of sperm left from Theo's dad and if it doesn't work with that, that's it). It's not cheap either!

Anna, ooh only one day behind me, exciting stuff. I got quite excited when my drugs arrived, but Theo was around so couldn't coo over them. lol. I hope you don't have to DR for that long, that would be rubbish!

Apparently they do just go away, this is the first one I've had so we shall see ^^ hopefully it will have gone by next month but who knows?
I was liking the idea of being jab buddies too Sad but I won't wish a whole extra month of downregging on Anna.
Will definitely still be here stalking you and then going on about my cycle too :p

It is odd how all the clinics run differently, I specifically asked if I could have my protocol early and they didn't want to let me have it, even though I usually have a stress getting the drugs on time.

Hope your results are ok

Jules,

Really hope the cyst goes quickly and it is just a little set back before a successful cycle. I will be watching your progress.

Woo hoo! Just had a call from Care and my antibody test came back as negative, so I don't need any more drugs to add to my cycle - Dr Shaker is happy that I don't need any immune drugs, so that's a total bonus. Wasn't looking forward to steroids cause I know they make you fat and I don't need any extra help in that department!!

Jules hugs, it really is rubbish for you. I know what I'd be like if someone told me now that I couldn't start my cycle this month. Is there no chance they could scan again before your DR date and cyst would have gone or is it something that goes with your period?
