Is it normal to have burning and wind when you use these?! And does it get better after a while? I was soooo glad to stop the injections but am now wishing I could have this stuff injected instead! I got headaches to start with on the injections and after a while I got hot flushes (before I started on the HRT) but at least with injections you're done and can get going - not usually any need to lie down (although I did get a bit woozy a couple of times).
Also, am I the only one who found the canneston applicator didn't work? Capsule wouldn't come out, got stuck in the tube and squished. Maybe I was trying a little too hard to get it as high as possible and didn't allow enough room to get it out? Ended up using a fresh one instead as think I got some of contents on my fingers, but now think I may have taken a little too much as a result. Could that help explain the burning, perhaps?
All advice gratefully received ladies!

Morning Birdie,
I used the canestan applicator but found it best if I didn't put the pessary in it too far. I'd ring Care if you're worried you may have taken too much - I was on 400mg per day if that's any help. As for side effects - I'm not sure about the burning as you don't say where you're getting it - again I might be inclined to mention it to the nurses. Other side effects I experienced included trapped wind that was so painful it felt like AF pains and constipation so I would highly recommend drinking lots of water and eating lots of fresh fruit & veg and prunes to keep things moving. I did find the best way to stay 'fresh' down there was to change the panty liner as soon as the major bits of capsule had come out (sorry if TMI) so it didn't sit against my skin for too long and irritate it.
I know the 20 mins of lying down is a pain, I used to set my alarm early so I could do the pessaries then go back to sleep, and in the evenings I'd read/listen to music or watch something on tv so the time went quicker and I was able to lie there longer than 20 mins.
Best of luck,
Lx |

Thanks Lottie. The burning was inside where I put the capsules - has faded now but am also now a bit sensitive elsewhere. Wondering if its the meds (seems to have aborbed it all) or could be I'm getting cystitis and they just made it worse. Will definitely try to drink lots of water today, to be on the safe side. Don't want to cause any problems for transfer day.
Glad the wind thing isn't just me (hope that doesn't sound mean!). Sooo embarrassing!
I put the capsule into the applicator so it was completely in but at the top. Maybe if I got it part in and part out that would work. (If I can do that without it falling out!).
I'm on 400g too. If I have taken a bit too much I guess Care could say to change the dose next time but not sure they'd want to do that as that could mean an under dose! Expecting someone to ring later anyway so I can ask about it then.
