Hi Sarah,
That seems quick! Maybe it just feels longer when you're the one injecting! I hope everything goes well on Friday. I'd need to set numerous alarms to make sure I was awake at that time!
I've still got 4 weeks left with half term on top. It seems like ages away! I'm starting to wish I was finishing next Friday, but the extra 3 weeks will be worth it at the other end, I'm sure! It's starting to seem like really hard work again and my patience is wearing thin - I think I'm just having a bad week! Poor kids!
I think after EC I did nothing but read and watch tv. I tried not to take much paracetamol and just used warm hot water bottles to ease the pain where possible. I followed the advice from Care and just did the pessaries when they said to. I can't remember if it says this on the care advice, but don't take ibuprofen or anything like that for the pain, just use paracetamol if you need it. I used to take a lot of ibuprofen each month for af pains but stopped after a pharmacist told me it can affect fertility. I don't think it had any effect but I won't be rushing to take it again in the future unless I really need to.
When we had ET we were given a photo of the two blasts we had transferred as there was a prob with the microscope so we couldn't see them that way. I found it gave me something really positive to focus on during the 2ww so you might want to ask if they'll give you a pic.
Good luck and let me know how you get on. I've got everything crossed for you!
Big hugs,
Katy x |

Hi Katy
Thanks for your messages we got 7 eggs collected - the consultant said that there were more but because of my tricky cervix he couldn't reach them - and out of the 7 eggs 6 of them have fertilised so we're over the moon. The embryologist said that they will call us again tomorrow to let us know how they're doing and the ET will be on Monday or Wednesday. Am keeping my fingers crossed that they do well overnight and that it's good news in the morning
We had a photo of our blasts last time and I put it away with all the other stuff that they give you but think I'll keep it out this time (assuming we get that far!) as a reminder and something positive to focus on.
I've been so tired because of the drugs that I know how you feel about being short on patience...I nearly got into an argument with a four year old the other day about playing in the sand...and sadly the child sounded more mature than me!
Hope you're not too cold with all this snow...it's a perfect excuse to stay inside and keep warm isn't it!
Love Sarah x x x |

Hi Sarah!
That's fantastic news! I'm so pleased for you. If you have the option will you put one or two back? We were sure we wanted two but we said we'd do what the consultant said on the day. We had 2 good blasts. He strongly recommended just putting one back and freezing the other good one along with a couple of lower grade ones, this was about 5 mins before ET! He was going on and on that the quality of the blasts meant there was a good chance of it becoming a twin pregnancy. I had this feeling that if we only put one back and it didn't work I'd be forever thinking 'What if?' so I stuck to my guns and had two put back. So much for doing as he said! One of the nurses was clearly getting annoyed as he was really pushy and she said "I don't live far from you, if it's twins I'll come and babysit!" Anyway, we're only due to have one, unless the other one is really good at hide and seek! It's worth sticking to your guns whatever you decide. We would have been just as happy with twins, but we weren't disappointed that it wasn't twins, if that makes sense?
Only 5 days until half term, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a snow day at some point! I'm going to spend today snuggled up on the sofa in front of the telly I think!
I'm keeping everything crossed for you and sending lots of positive thoughts!
Big hugs,

Hi Katy
We've had a call today, 5 of them are doing really well and one is lagging slightly behind so they've pencilled us in for ET tomorrow afternoon - when the embryologist rang she spoke to DH and he said that she mentioned that we had blasts before, when he said yes we did she said they'll have another look in the morning and ring at 10 to confirm that the transfer will be tomorrow...so we still don't know for sure!!!
I'm pretty sure that our Dr will give me a sicknote starting from tomorrow so I've told me 2 colleagues that I won't be back until after half term and will ring work in the morning-I don't need any extra stress from work at the moment!
We're NHS funded for the first time with this cycle and so I thinkthey dictate that it's one embryo transferred each time, but I'm like you - if they give us the option of 2 I'll take it (especially as they're not blasts yet).
I like your plan for a day snuggled up on the sofa in front of the telly...that's what I've done today too!!!
Thanks for all your positive vibes, I'll let you know how we get on tomorrow
Love Sarah x x |

Hi Sarah,
How is everything with you? It's a shame the NHS only let you out one back, but you're lucky to get funding. We never qualified as dh has a son from his previous marriage and our pct doesn't fund if one person already has kids. It's the joy of the postcode lottery!
Hope you managed to get a sick note from your doc. The last thing you need is work stress. It's only a few days until half term and what you're doing is far more important than work. It'll still be there in a couple of weeks (unfortunately! )
I hope your embies are behaving themselves and that you had good news this morning.
Take care and make sure you keep relaxing!
Bug hugs,
Katy x |

Hi Katy
We had very good news as the 5 that were developing well are still developing well so they're going to take them to blast (fingers crossed) and the little one that was lagging behind is still behind but hasn't given up yet.....so we're getting another phonecall tomorrow with an update and a definite time for ET.
I agree that we're REALLY lucky to be funded this time, especially as our previous cycle wasn't funded - it's made us really appreciate the funding this time round! My doctor gave me a sicknote for my FET last time and so hopefully there won't be a problem getting one this time too - TBH I don't care if I don't get one! My priority is being calm and rested for the ET and, as you say, I can do without work stress (although I did feel a bit guilty being off today when there's technically nothing wrong with me, but it'd be Sod's Law that if I had gone in they'd have wanted to do the transfer at 2.30 today!)
Thanks for checking on how we're doing
Hope you're feeling ok and not too tired/stressed? Only 4 more get ups til half term - yay
I'll keep you posted
Love Sarah x |

Hi Sarah,
Hope things are still going well. Are you due to have transfer today or tomorrow? Make sure you put your feet up afterwards, the cold weather is the perfect excuse for doing nothing but snuggle on the sofa.
I'm ok, really exhausted now. I can't wait for next week to have chance to recharge my batteries. We've got absolutely nothing planned for the first time ever. My boss keeps dumping stuff on me that needs to be done before I leave. It's things that I've never known anyone else in any other place to do before maternity leave and I know the last two teachers that went on maternity didn't have to do it. I think they're just taking advantage of the fact that they know I'm not one to say no and they keep using the excuse that noone else has EY experience. Not much longer to go now...
I hope everything goes well with your ET whenever it is and that you manage to get some to freeze as well. Fingers, toes and everything else I can cross (starting to get a bit more difficult now! ) are crossed for you!
Big hugs,
Katy x |

Hi Katy
Oh no, poor you - I think that a lot of Heads are scared of Early years and yours is probably the same (and is asking you to do stuff so that they don't look stupid when the person covering your Mat leave starts!) Make sure that you have a really good rest over half term...it's probably a good thing that you haven't got anything planned, sounds like you could do with a week on the sofa watching rubbish and taking it easy
We had our ET yesterday and it was quite traumatic, when the Dr looked at my womb lining he said that he could see some fluid on it and decided to try and drain it (very uncomfortable and it took ages!!) So when he'd got rid of all the fluid he told us that we had 2 options:
1. cancel the ET and do a FET sometime in the future
2. go ahead with the ET
well there I was with my legs in stirrups, about to burst into tears at his matter of fact attitude and we didn't get much time to discuss what to do. anyway, we've had 1 day 5 blastocyst transferred - but that got stuck in the cathetar the first time he did the transfer so we had to do the "transfer" twice!!! Anyway, all of this makes me think that this little bean (or Bertie Blastocyst as I've been calling it!) is meant to be! We got a call today to say that they froze one early blast, one full blast and one hatching blast so I'm praying that if they did that well in the lab the little one inside of me is doing well too
Thank you for keeping everyhting crossed for us and for all your kind wishes and support this time around. Only one more get up for you
Lots of love Sarah x |

Hi Sarah,
Poor you! ET is stressful enough without all that to contend with! I think you did the right thing not to cancel and you're lucky to have some frozen too. I hope Bertie is getting stuck in and making him/herself comfy! When is your test date?
I'm so glad it's Friday tomorrow. This week has really dragged. I'm hoping that we're lucky enough to have a snow day tomorrow as we're getting quite a bit at the mo, but I doubt it!
Take care of yourself and enjoy the time off work.
Sending big hugs and sticky baby dust!

Hi Katy
Did you get your snow day today? If not there's only a few hours left of this half term
Thanks for the sticky baby dust, I hope it works and that "Bertie" is snuggling in too!
Enjoy your week off, sounds like you deserve a rest so take it easy

Hi Sarah,
Unfortunately we didn't get a snow day today, but obviously all my wishing and hoping did something as one of my 'more challenging' little darlings wasn't in school today so that made things a little easier! After a long week I'm glad to have my feet up!
Hope you're ok and resting up! Take care of yourself.
Lots of love, Katy x |

Hi Katy,
Sounds like you had a nice start to your half term without your challenging "little darling"! I know how much difference it can make when they're not in - it can transform your class can't it?!
DH is taking me to mum and dad's today - I'm going to stay with them for a few days and think that mum intends to make sure that I take it easy, so am looking forward to it! I'll appreciate some company during the day too as mum's not working this week so hopefully it'll help the days fly by
Have a good half term and make sure that you have a rest - Sarah's orders!

Hi Sarah,
I am following your orders and resting up, especially after a sleepless night last night. We ended up in the labour suite for three hours as I was suffering with bad cramps and contractions. The doctor monitored the baby and contractions and then checked to see if I'd gone into premature labour, but fortunately everything was fine. He reckoned it was probably really bad braxton hicks or a stomach upset that had kicked off the contractions. I've spent my afternoon on the laptop trying to get some of this work out of the way and I'm feeling much better all round now.
I hope you have a nice time with your folks. There's nothing like having your mum looking after you! I hope you're following your own orders and are resting up too! I hope you're feeling ok.
Lots of love and baby dust,
Katy xx |

Hi Katy
Oh no poor you, I bet you were really worried. I'm really glad that you got checked out at the labour ward and that both you and the baby are ok. Glad you're resting up, sounds like you need to spend the rest of the week doing pretty much the same thing!
I'm feeling fine, thanks for asking with everything that you've had to cope with. You're right, there's nothing like having your mum look after you
Keep resting and take care of yourself and your bump

Hi Sarah,
How are things with you? Are you feeling ok?
We've had a busier week than expected, the 'nesting' urge hit me so we've been sorting out the house. I'm going to spend the next few days with my feet up doing absolutely nothing now - I've even done all my paperwork for school so I feel I can finally relax!
Hope you're having a lovely week!
Big hugs,

Hi Katy
I hope that you've been resting up after all that activity! I've had a horrible couple of days, I started bleeding on Wednesday afternoon and it got really heavy yesterday - it seems to have slowed down an awful lot today and I don't think the pessaries are doing me any favours! I spent yesterday in tears and was convinced that it's all over...I'm not so sure that there's a lot of hope today but I'm certainly feeling much better and haven't cried once (yet!) The nurse at Care said to carry on with the medication and test on Sunday/Monday, so we'll see if it's a BFP or not. Fingers crossed
Enjoy the last of your half term holiday....let the countdown to mat leave begin!!

Hi Sarah,
I'm really sorry to hear that. I know it's easier said than done, but try not to lose hope. I've read of people who've had heavy bleeding and then gone on to have a bfp so it might yet be ok. I've got everything crossed for you. Put your feet up, watch some crap on TV and try to relax as much as you can. I'm sending big hugs xx
I've been on the sofa with a nasty cold for the last two days but I'm about to drag myself out to see my friend for a bit. Getting some practise in for when I finish work.
Take care of yourself. I'm thinking of you and really hoping for the best.
Lots of love,

Hi Katy
Thanks for your message, I'm trying to stay hopeful. I'm going to test tomorrow and then do the Care test on Monday (thankfully I'm not back at work until Tuesday).
Sorry to hear that you've got a cold, I hope that you're feeling a bit better today and have a nice time with your friend practising for mat leave (maybe you'll need to keep practising for a bit longer til you get it just right)

Hi Sarah,
I'm so sorry to hear your news. I don't know what to say, I'm just so sorry.
I think you're wise not to rush to make any decisions at the moment, take time to look after each other.
