Hi all, I am due to test on Saturday. I am on prontogest injections instead of pessaries as my consultant thinks I do not absorb progesterone very well.
Is anyone else on these and in the 2ww? Or have you had them in the past?
I know I won't get AF until around a week after I stop injecting if it's a BFN. I am starting to feel a bit strange today though, and wondered if anyone else who had these injections had any symptoms? (apart from hardly being able to sit down!)
Thanks
GG |

Hi Golf Girl
I had those injections on my last round of IVF. Pretty unpleasant! Bizarrely, though, they didn't hold back my period. Nothing seems to (except actual pregnancy). I got the usual symptoms of IVF - soreness, bloating, sore boobs but nothing too bad. I've had very similar symptoms whether I've been pregnant or not - frustrating because it's impossible to tell in my experience.
Good luck!

Oh my word Niki. You got your period? Do you mind if I ask roughly what day? I really thought I was not going to get it until I stopped the injections. Crikey! Might have to re think going in to work on thurs/fri.
Congrats on your bfp!
I can't find much on the Internet about cycling with prontogest apart from people going on about how much the injections hurt! I don't really want to read about that, as my poor bottom is a constant reminder!
Thanks for your reply!

Man I got so many bruises GG. I was on clexane too so I was black and blue front and back! Lol. And my poor DH hates needles so it was all very stressful for him giving me the jabs too.
Yes, I did. Odd I know but progesterone supplements haven't ever held my period off, not even the injections. I have quite a short cycle so I think that somehow defeats the synthetic hormones. I don't think it's usual, tho. A lot of ladies on here have their periods held back by the pessaries and with the injections it's even more likely that you will.
Thanks! Early days yet so I'm trying not to get overexcited but fingers crossed.

I am on prontogest (and clexane) so can sympathise with the sore bum & belly! My DH massages the site of the pronogest (think he likes that bit and I definitely think it helps with the soreness.
The great thing about the prontogest is that it i definitely absorbed and immediately (my progesterone was a bit low and the nurse said it would return to "normal" after the 1st injection)
Good luck x |

| im on prontogest and clexane and on other cycles its always delays my AF until i come off it. yes my bum and belly are black and blue and cannot sit down, try putting a hot water bottle under your bum before sitting down or take it to bed and lie on your back and try putting it where it hurts most. works for me. bagpuss. x |
