Hello,
Just thought i'd set this thread up for everyone who finds themselves in the really rubbish place of having a wait before their cycle starts so that we can keep time ticking over together in the meantime.
I'll be hoping for a May/June/July cycle, so anyone aiming for the same kind of start time would be be ideal, but of course anyone is welcome xx |

Hi girls,
I'll join you,
I've just finished my last cycle but donated all my eggs so I have to wait till may/ June till I can cycle for myself plus I think my body needs that long after what it's been through this time. I'm terrified to do it all again I've been in so much pain.
Louise - sorry to hear about your disaster cycle- big hugs. However you seem like one very determined lady and I'm sure you wil get your dream. X
Lingey- hello
Xx |

Hiya and welcome Chencat
Sorry, i'm a bit ignorant about egg donation... how did you end up donating all of your eggs? Did you not get enough for you to have some left too or was it the plan all along to donate all of your eggs to someone?
I had Merlot too on my post cycle bender - i had a bottle all to myself! :/
I've never found one that was quite right though, because i don't drink often enough and always forgot which ones tasted like what. I like them to be really dark and taste as much like fruit as possible and with very little afterburn as possible - any suggestions?
I am really feeling time drag with weekend though because all correspondance between me an Belgium has paused |

Louise,
I have donated to 2 ladies this time as I produce large numbers of eggs, it is still egg share however, next time I cycle I get to keep them all for myself in order to give myself the best possible chance. Last time I shared and got half (13), then 8 fertilised with ICSI, on day 3 5 looked good so we went to blast but lost them all apart from 1. Now I would like as many as possible but don't know if I will go to blast again in case it happens again, or maybe they wouldn't have made it anyway?
Hubby has poor mobility hence the ivf
I feel for you regards Belgium, it's typical when you feel the need to persue something immediately but have to wait for Monday morning! Hope you get to find a way forward with them.

Thanks for explaining Chencat
So what kind of discount do you get by egg sharing? Do you get told if the other people got BFPs or not?
I bought myself another bottle tonight but it was horrible. Just had a glass and the rest will be going down the sink. I can't drink something just for the sake of it... unlike some people Lingey... |

Hi Louise and thanks.
We have been ttc for 9 1/2 years!! I'm 30 and DH is 41. We have always been told that we have unexplained infertility until recently when they discovered DH has low sperm count. We had several IUI's in 2005 then IVF in July 2007 followed by a FET in December 2007. We both found it really difficult and so have had quite a long break from it all!!
We were seeing a consultant at our local hospital but we are now at care. The difference is amazing!! We would be starting next month but DH has a fractured arm which needs surgery so we are waiting until he has fully recovered!! I can see that you have had several ICSI's and hope things work out for you. Looking forward to chatting xx |

Morning ladies
Well the Shiraz was very nice last night fruity and dark so would defo recommend it for you Louise and its on offer at the coop get yourself down there today and enjoy!!! Just done my pregnyl injection I couldn't remember what the consultant said on Friday so injected both of them as my protocol said!!! Oh well not that it matters now although I have told DH we will b at it like rabbits just incase a miracle happens (DH single normal live sperm swims lol) and back to reality!!! We are off out for DH belated birthday meal today with friends so will have to explain all to friends without crying!!! I hope my friend that is preggers isn't showing haven't seen her for a couple of weeks and she has been sensitive enough not to talk about it while I have been going through my last cycle but seeing bumps is always a bit emotional!!! Oh well hopefully it will be me in a few months!!!!
Welcome Ali it will be lovely having people to chat to while we all wait for the coming months!!! Hope your DH arm recovers quickly and you can jump back on the roller coaster again!!!!
Chencat wow you must be a good egg incubator!!! All this ivf is new to me!!! My pre treatment scan showed 25 follies so they were worried I would get Ohss no such luck though only had two follies growing properly so been postponed until had an AF then start DR again and jump back on!!! Can't wait for time to fly!!!
Have a lovely day!!!! Lingey xxx |

Morning all,
Louise. next time round I have to pay for my drugs, the hfea fee, ICSI, extended culture and the freezing of any remaining embies so still around £2000. I could never afford £5000 so have no choice really but to share my eggs although I'm very happy to do it and pray both my ladies get their BFP's. I will find out soon what their results are!!!
Have any of you who have hubby's with poor sperm purchased menevit or something along those lines, you get it from Australia and it's meant to be very good at improving the sperm, I've just ordered some myself but it will take a while to get here. Just a thought. I'm willing to try anything.
Welcome alib81 wow, you have been trying a long time, fingers crossed this is your time. I can understand how you have needed a good break away from ivf, it takes over your life doesn't it
Lingey. Glad u enjoyed the Shiraz last night, I'm more of a diet coke girl myself, I rarely drink although I will never refuse a baileys!!! Will they give you a much higher dose of meds next time to get those follies growing. I'm sure the time will fly, how long have you got to wait?
Well, must go out in the lovely rain now and do my shopping, tescos here I come!
Back soon x |

I couldn't believe that it was snowing this morning! It didn't stick and soon turned back into rain, but i thought i was going mad for a second!
Ali - gosh, how did you get through 9 years of ttc and only then find out DH had low sperm - that's crazy! It must have been nice to have a break. I don't like pauses. I like conclusions lol
I'm glad that you are liking CARE How did DH fracture his arm? :/
Lingey - i'm really hoping for a BFP for you That would be hilarious Do you have to explain it to all of your friends? I think i would cry... maybe text tham all in advance just saying it didn't work but you'll talk about it another time? You don't want to ruin your evening xx
Chencat - i would have thought you'd get a free cycle for donating! Someone told me that they charge something like £10,000 for donor eggs... It's nice that you are hoping the other women gets BFPs. I think i'd feel like no one was allowed to get a BFP before me lol
My hubby has shocking sperm and he is on Zita West:
http://www.zitawest.com/buy/supplements/fertility-and-conception/
He has the Vitamen ones and also the Vitamen Boost ones. He didn't see any improvement after 3 months but he's been on them for about 6 months now and he's also had acupuncture for the last couple of months and they finally seem to be improving. He hasn't actually had a semen analysis but the embryologist has estimated 50% motility and approx 5% normal forms and that is like black and white compared to what his most recent sperm analysis indicated.
Anyway, i think i might go and try to do some vacuuming :/ xx |

Evening ladies
Hope you've all had a lovely weekend and thanks to you all for the warm welcome.
Louise - the last 9 years have gone sooo quick (very scary really!!). DH had an initial semen analysis right back in 2003 which was normal. We subsequently had IUI and were told it was fine then. When we had our IVF in 2007 6 out of 10 eggs fertilised so obviously wasn't a problem then!! When the IVF didn't work I was told that my weight was the issue (I have always struggled to put on weight and my BMI then was around 17). To cut a long story short we have spent the last 5ish years trying to get my weight up and am happy to say that my BMI is now 19.
Anyway........when we were ready to start the process again our GP sent us for all bloods and semen analysis again and it was picked up that DH has low sperm count. They repeated it at Care last week and it was the lowest it had been at 1.6million/ml so they advised us to have ICSI. Just can't wait to start now!!! Going in for a semen freeze on Tuesday.
DH's op is on 19th March so not long to wait for that now. He fractured it when he fell off a motorcross bike in at the beginning of November last year. It hasn't healed at all hence the op!! Boys and their toys,eh?
Feel like i've been rambling.....
Chencat - I admire you very much for donating your eggs.....we have thought about it before and it's definitely something I would consider in the future. We are lucky to have our cycle funded. Not sure about the menevit....we were told about it but we just bought the Sanatogen mother and father to be vitamins. I know there not the same but thought we'd give those a try.
Lingey - thanks, I'm sure he'll recover fine. It's strange for me as I work in the theatres where he's having it done!! Sorry you had to have your treatment postponed...hope you have better luck next time. I'm sure you will.
Anyway after a busy day doing not very much I'm off to bed ready for a busy week at work.
Hope you all have a good week and will catch up on here when I can.
Thanks again for the warm welcome...it means a lot!!
Lots a love
Ali xx |

Hi Ladies, I may as well join you all too. Louise knows all of this, but I had been due to have a FET this month, but I had to put it off because of moving house. It's a complete relocation from Cheshire to Cambridgeshire and also involves moving the office and lab as well as me, DH and 2 kitties, so it was all far too stressful to try and get a FET in as well.
So now I'll be requesting my treatment at my next AF at the end of March/early April, DR at day 21 after that, and then the transfer should work out to be mid May. I may be a bit earlier than the rest of you, but I need somewhere to hang out in the meantime, and I may yet put it off by another month depending on how the move goes.
I'm currently keeping a eye on all the lovely ladies I was expecting to be cycling with/near, while manically running around at home and at work.
Oh, and I'm not actually with Care for this cycle, although I have done a donation of eggs cycle with Care previously like Chencat, which is how I ended up here. I have 2 Blasts in the freezer, and I annoyingly have to come back up to Manchester St Mary's hospital to have the NHS-funded treatment as they won't ship them to another hospital. Our big fight is going to be getting both transferred together (assuming they both survive the thaw that is), as we want this over and done with, so to speak, and then we can focus on new treatment in Cambridge if we need it, and not have to still travel up north, which is going to be a pain in the arse! |

Hiya Sarah
I didn't know about the kitties! What kind of cats have you got? Hubby won't let me have one because of the scratching furniture fear and the hair everywhere. I even looked at those bald ones lol
Yeah, no rush anymore to have your FET seeing you have to wait for me
Good luck with convincing the Nhs on the DET. It seemed very black and white when i was on the Nhs... They've got no sense about them being able to stop paying if they actually let you get pregnant.
Ali - gosh, your DH sounds like an adrenaline junky lol I worry about my hubby just for liking going mountain biking What are you having a semen freeze for? xx |

What you need Lingey, is fertility tactics! You need preseed and a mooncup!
You wouldn't believe what i've been googling to kill some time... a centrifuge and a catheter so i can self-inseminate to try and make the most of hubby's four normal sperm cells lol
I didn't do any hoovering in the end. I simply couldn't be bothered They've been and gone and left paint all over the bathroom floor -_- But! The bedroom is done
I've not had any word from stupid Belgium. I can only assume that i'm waiting for the head consultant lady to respond to my professor friend about my appointment... I found the head consultant on Twitter and i'm fighting every urge i have to contact her directly :/ I don't want to come off as some childless freak, even if i am getting pretty close to that reality
Oh, i used to like badminton at school - who do you play with? xx |

DH plays for a club and is good and smug with it!!! I'm a beginner and have been playing a few months after only playing at school when I was 16 lol so a bit of time has gone by since then lol I Play at village leisure centre nothing like a bit of public humiliation on a Monday nite lol
It must be so hard resisting contacting the consultant in Belgium that's some will power you have got I wouldn't worry what they think!! Think of it as coming accross as motivated lol I feel like I'm becoming desperate now and have defo thought about a big turkey baster especially today the thought of those two eggs going to waste after all that stabbing makes me wanna cry again!!!! I'm praying for a miracle lol lets hope DH 4 sperm can swim and will swim 2nite!!! I have told him we are having an early nite lol
Good decision to leave the hoovering it should b illegal to do housework on weekends lol hope the paint comes off the bathroom floor!!!! What a nightmare!!!!
Right off to enjoy babymaking!!! It feels like a chore after all theses years of trying but always an optamist!!!!

Hey
Hope everyone has had a good day
Just a quick check in before bed.
Louise - CARE's policy is that a sperm count of 1 million/ml or lower should have a semen freeze?? I suppose it's in case it's a bad sample on the day. Ours wasn't quite that low but they recommended it anyway. Sorry you've not heard from Belgium, what exactly are you waiting to hear? I know what you mean about giving off impressions, I'm starting to think people think the same of me sometimes lol. It's hard when you're so passionate about something.
Lingey - I wish my DH wasn't such an adrenaline junkie!! I really hope this time he'll finally give it in. He's had a few injuries over the years. What kind of nursing do you do? I'm an ODP. Not sure if you know what that involves but basically assist the anaesthetist. I'm really dreading my EC, I think sometimes you can know too much. I had a general anaesthetic last time and am not looking forward to the sedation!!
Hi Sarah, sorry you've had to postpone your FET but moving house is stressful enough!! I hope you manage to get them both transfered.
Had a nice relaxing evening at my yoga class tonight so off to bed, it always makes me feel really tired.
Speak soon xx |

Ah i see Ali - i didn't know CARE had that policy in place My hubby tends to have 1-3 million and they've never mentioned it.
Well because we don't get any fertilisation even with ICSI, we've had to cross the channel for solutions to try and overcome the issue. There is a clinic in Belgium that offers a technique that might help so i'm waiting to hear from them about when our appointment might be. I'm giving them until Wednesday before i start making a nuisance of myself
Lingey, i have to try and be patient until i start handing over money and then they better jump when i say! I hope you're having an, ummmm, good time
Anyway, off to bed. No sex for me i suspect |

No, no news. This is the bit where i start freaking out. If i could just get this Belgium appointment sorted then i would have nothing to do but wait without having to think of IVF at all - but noooooo.
I did email the guy again and not even he has replied and he normally replies asap, so maybe he has no news either. I'm tempted to just phone the hospital or even contact the consultant directly but i don't know if it would upset him and he's been nice to me.
I'm worried that the longer before i make an appointment, the longer i'll have to wait for an appointment.
I'm having a shit day in general really. My alternative focus besides IVF has been decorating the master bedroom and long story short, after lots of faffing i got the very expensive bed that i loved at 50% and have been waiting 3 months for it to finally arrive next week only to be phoned today to be told that the bed was oversold and discontinued so they don't have a bed for me and can't get one. They are sending an alternaitve bed but i really don't like it, but have no idea where i could get a better one
I hope everyone else is coping with the wait alright xx |
