Embarking on 3rd IVF cycle in April and trying acupunture along side for the first time. Any comments on, or experience of acupuncture?
Thanks |

Hi McBee
I had accupuncture with one of my cycles and although I found it interesting and very nice chatting to the lady who did it - that was the best bit really - she was so nice and I felt I could really talk to her. I had the accupuncture for a good couple of months (could have even been about 3 or 4 months) before treatment and at all the right times for treatment, but it didn't seem to help me get a BFP.
Many ladies swear by it, not for the results per se, but more for the fact that they felt really relaxed. I have to say, I didn't really ever feel anything different - I was no more or less relaxed. The chat with the lady was the best bit and I could have done that without the needles! (Which didn't hurt by the way, so have no fear there). She was a fully trained Accupuncturist with specialist training in infertility accupuncture and had also trained at Zita West.
Sorry to disappoint that I have no miracle working accupuncture story to relay, but I would say try it and if its something you enjoy or makes you feel relaxed, that can't be bad.
Good luck
Mouse

Hi Mouse
thanks so much for the lovely reply - I am glad that you found it a nice expereince in terms of the 'chat' but sorry that it did not actually help. I have had 2 sessions already and I totally agree with you - it is very interesting, the lady is lovely to chat to and the needles are painless.
I think deep down I know that it probably wont be 'the' miracle solution but hope that it will at least help me relax a little and give me something else to think about. Our 3rd IVF attempt maybe our last attempt (age and finance and living in a bubble) so I want to feel that I have given it 110%.
Looking at your history (still learning what the abbreviations mean) - but looks like you have had a tough time - well done for keeping on trying. I had a miscarriage at 16 weeks in Nov 11 after 2nd IVF attempt - really thought we had succeeded - has been hard to get over.
Good luck to us both - take care

Hi McBee,
I have had acu for a good number of my cycles, and its something that I'd regret not adding in again - but whether or not its the 'magic bullet' remains to be seen. Personally I think on a holistic level (if you believe in it all!) that it makes some difference to how you function (I know i feel better with acu than without) and therefore it must make a small difference, but its only one of a number of factors isn't it? Your motivation, which is to do everything you can, and if you enjoy it, seems a good way to approach it!
Love Briony |

Thanks Briony - good feedback and appreciated.
I am going to continue with it throughout my cycle and see how things go - as ever, everything will be crossed.
