Hi Ladies,
Thanks for all the good wishes!
Sam - glad the appointment went ok and you get to see your LO again too It gives another milestone to look forward to before the birth.
3w - I've begun getting baby stuff not really been given any. My friends all on baby no. 1 and DHs sister's youngest is 4 so having to buy it all.
You can get some good list of equipment you might need on-line. John Lewis had a good one, and there was one in the 'Emma's Diary' booklet I got from the midwife.
I think its then a question of shopping around for which specific item you want. Amamzon have loads of stuff, as do Next and Argos. Then there are specialist shops like Mamas and Papas and Mothercare. There are also some good idependent retailers. We went to an excellent one to look at prams, and they really had a personal touch.
On the pram front they are so confusing! I also want a baby carrier as walk our dogs alot. I like the iCandy Peach atm

Hi all
Sorry I am still lurking and spying on you all.
3w - I read that you were supposed to have your scan today. How did it go?
Phoenix - Bet you are v pleased with a little girl. Not that anyone would care as long as it was a baby that come out at the end of the day! Chuffed for you!

Hi Ladies
thanks for all the info
f&t - you are correct. Scan went really well and up to now everything is where it should be and looking good. The baby was wriggling about and you could even see them swallowing. Well it seems that Im also joining the pink club as we're having a girl. We just want a healthy baby, the fact that they're a girl is an added bonus.
Got appointment with Consultant on Monday

3w - fantastic news so glad everything is ok There is a definite girl theme developing on this thread. Woohoo team pink. x
F&T - its lovely to hear from you. I am over the moon with a little girl, but as you say it doesn't really matter after all we've been through just so grateful that everything is ok.
Hope the wait to start treatment isn't getting you down too much. I'll be following you once you start x |

Hi Ladies,
How's everyone getting on? All good I hope?
I've had another busy week at work, but have managed to get this afternoon off - hurrah! Just had an amazon delivery of some more baby stuff - a baby bjorn carrier, a soother/star display baby monitor and some breast pads/nipple cream from me! Its so weird buying all this kind of stuff!
Trying to decide on how do decorate babies room too. DH not keen on it being too 'fussy' as he calls it ie in his mind any floral patterns etc are out, he's so boring lol - keep telling him its not his room
Also has anyone had any ideas on names yet? We had a boys name sorted but no girls name I'm afraid. We're kind of thinking Matilda, Pippa or Harriet so far!

Hi Phoenix,
You make me nervous in a lovely way! The thought of buying nipple cream fills me with dread at the moment! I still have a mental block about the fact that I am going to actually give birth! LOL!!!! Hehehehe!
We have loads of names for girls, but are struggling with boys. I really like the traditional names that can be shorterned, so for girls we have Constance (Connie), Bridgette (Bridie), or Elizabeth (Libby, Beth, Lizzie...), for boys it is a bit harder. I really love Hubert, but DH hates it and has threatened to divorce me! LOL! I think that is a bit harsh of him ;o) I really love the idea of Bertie, it goes reall well with our surname.
Originally, I loved William (Billy) but DH's cousin has just called her little boy William, so that is out, but the in laws love it so much that at the moment they are calling Bump, Bille, if is is a girl or a boy, and I just know it will stick ) They are so excited, cute!
Have a lovely weekend x x |

Hi Girls,
Need to go shopping bit we're due to move into our new house in 3 weeks. I don't think I can cope with packing anymore than I already have!
Phoenix-I'm loving Pippa, it does remind me of Princess Kate's str...who is stunning!
Sam- Connie is lovely, we're thinking of Alexa...actually that's what we have decided on
3- congrats, welcome to team pink!!
AFM- bit of a dilemma really. I'm in the U.S, and some family in the UK. Without being rude, some have cottoned on to the fact that us being here equals a cheap holiday for them. Last year a Uncle that was never close decided to descend...it cost us a fortune in petrol driving him & his girlfriend around, paying for meals out etc etc. He has announced he wants to come come back in the Autumn!! Now my Nan ( who doesn't have a pot to p**s in) has decided she wants to finally visit. Snag is she wanted us to pay for the lot!! We offered last year, b4 house & a baby!! I am probably going to say no to them for this yr, is that wrong?

Hi Ladies,
Sam - I too like the more traditional names which can be shortend - Tillie for Matilda and Hattie for Harriet. Your ideas are really cute, Elizabeth is so versatile. There are loads of options with that, to extend your list there's Betty/Betsy/Elsie too!
In terms of the boys, if you like Bertie but DH doesn't like Hubert how about a different Bert name - Albert/Robert/Bertram? Bertie is fab and a good alternative to Billie!
Dizzee - Alexa is lovely too I really like Pippa but the Pmiddy association actually puts DH off - he thinks people will think we are avid celebrity followers....
I totally agree with you on the family visiting - you'll have a lot on this year and lots of expense. Its completely reasonable to turn down entertaining (& paying for) loads of (not that close) relatives to descend. Why not say to your Uncle he is more than welcome to visit, but unfortunately he will have to get a hotel given your situation with the baby. You've not then said no but prevented the free holiday situation - would be interesting to see if he still wants visit you then

Evening ladies
how are you all? I don't know about everyone else, but for me the weeks are whizzing by. 23 weeks today and I haven't really bought anything (everyone else sounds so organised). Did go to Mothercare to look at prams but wasn't impressed with the selection in that particular store. Bought a book of baby names so just working my way through that at the moment. You would think it would be easy to choose a name for your baby. Can really feel her kicking and moving around now which is very reassuring. Have booked myself a 3D/4D scan when I am just over 26 weeks. Anyone else planning on having one done?

Hi 3w,
The weeks are certainly whizzing by! I'm not going for a 3D scan as I am having another NHS scan at 32w given I have a low lying placenta. I know it won't be as clear as a 3D scan but will give us another chance to see her before the birth. I too can feel baby wriggling around which is lovely! Your scan will be amazing though!
I am slowly getting organised, needed to start buying as I'm really not a great shopper. I don't enjoy it and have to research everything before I decide, so prob takes me longer than everyone else We have now bought most essential big things, we just need to get the nursery actually assembled and decorated! We ordered a pram in a very snowy Kendal on Saturday have gone for the iCandy peach jogger in cranberry, its gorgeous!

Hi Phoenix
I'd forgotten that you were having another scan at 32 weeks. Hopefully your placenta will have sorted itself out! If I had another scan booked then I wouldn't have a 3D scan. I had so many scans in the beginning and it just seemed so long to go from 20 weeks until she is born without seeing her again.
You sound very organised and the pram sounds lovely. There are so many to choose from. I'm going shopping again later in the week and hopefully I will buy something this time

hi all,
sorry not been on for ages.
Had a 3D scan last week but baby kept turning away so we have a short DVD of the back of its head, we are going back in 3 weeks for hopefully a better look. Got 4 pics and don't have to pay next time.
Having another hospital scan at 32 and 36 weeks as we have a low lying placenta and apparently its protocol for IVF pregnancies at our hospital.
Bump is massive (or at least feels like it is), can only fit into maternity clothes. still have an inny belly button though
Got a girls name Violet May but cant agree on boys name. DH would like something different and unique (he mentioned Spatacus but am sure he was joking..............)
Baby kicking like mad and stomach looks like alien when it gets going.
Struggling with heartburn every afternoon and often get woken up in the night in agony. Have to take gaviscon by the bucketload, can't get on with liquid form had to have tablet form. Also feet very swollen every night. Other than that am getting on really well. I finish for maternity leave in 7 weeks.
Glad to hear everything is going well for everyone.
Got to go.

Hi LTJ!
That's great you get to go back for another scan for free since you didn't get much DVD last time! I too am having another scan a 32 weeks due to a low lying placenta. I wonder if these are more common with IVF as embryos are in the womb at an earlier stage (3d rather than 5d in a natural miracle) and can 'work their way down' more?
Violet May is lovely. My colleague has just had a baby boy they have called him Hendrix if you were looking for something unusual - I thought it was different but not too much so!
Glad to hear baby is wiggling lots. I was in a meeting today and baby kept kicking - was struggling to concentrate on goodwill impairments lol.
I had heartburn for the first time ever on sat night was surprisingly painful. The swollen feet/hands are a feature for me too but not too bad yet!
I have the decorators coming this week to do Kitchen/Diner and the baby room very excited

Hi Girls,
Well am 25 weeks today! No stretch marks yet but look like I've swollowed a beach ball
It's great hearing of scans...they really get me excited! I'm going to try and mooch a later scan too..nothing wrong but she was measuring really big, so perhaps might try and wrangle it lol.
We move into our new house sat, we are painting babies room 1st, and have decided on a creamy peach colour. My poor little ferret has to have surgery this week as well poor squeakers so it's all go go go
Happy valentines

Hi Dizzee!
I too am rapidly approaching 25w and seem to have had a growth spurt, really feeling like a proper pregnant lady now. Also managed to avoid stretch marks so far but I've heard many people only get them in the last few weeks....hoping they don't make an appearance!
Sounds like its is all go with you, the house move will be exciting though. Its lovely painting the nursery. I hope your ferret is ok and recovering well.

Evening Ladies
LTJ - isn't baby naughty turning away, hopefully better luck next time. Can't believe you finish for maternity leave in a few weeks, its all happening so fast.
Dizzee - hope the house move went without any hitches. Have you managed to get another scan booked? You never know she may be measuring near normal now. Hope the ferret is ok
Phoenix - glad to hear all is well with you. Hope the decorating is going to plan. How soon will you move down south after your baby is born?
afm - had appointment with midwife yesterday and she was really pleased and said that baby was measuring right size for dates. Got my 3D scan next week, can't wait

Hi Ladies!
3w - glad to hear your MW appointment went well. When is your 3D scan bet you can't wait
We have now decided that I won't move down South...not sure if its the right decision...DH asked his boss and can work from home Monday/Friday most weeks so I am going to stay here. Plus we'll be about £1000 pm better off if I don't go. But will be hard being on my own. I am at the mo but being at work it seems ok.
On a different note we have decorated babies room have a fab wall sticker with some a tree, some owls and birds on it. Looks so cute xx |

Hello Girls,
Am I hearing maternity leave starting?? OMG I am a jobless bum ATM, due to falling pregnant b4 my permanent work visa came through! Now no one will employ me
Took matters into my own hands and paid for a scan...it was amazing!!! Saw babies facial features, she was yawning obviously exhausting being a little cutie pie. Please let us know how you get on 3w.
I am in my new house, boxes unpacked, and Alexa's room painted a lovely subtle peachy pink, hubby was pleased to get back to work for a break lol.
My "furry" child made s speedy recovery from surgery, and is happily scampering around again.
Phoenix your babies room sounds great! I wish I was more creative
Take care girls.....p.s should we start listing due dates? I'm due 28/5/2012 xxx |

Hi Dizzee!
My mat leave is starting mid April so a bit to go yet. But only 28 actual days left at work, as I also have a holiday booked before then
The scan sounds amazing I am a bit jealous - have a normal one at 32 weeks in April can't wait.
Glad the move has gone well too, it must be nice to be all sorted now for babies arrival!
My EDD is 03 June 2012....not long to go

Hi Ladies
Phoenix - you sound very organised and the babies room sounds lovely. Its good that your DH can work from home on Mondays and Fridays so that you don't have to move down South. I know its not the same but I'm sure you will get lots of offers of help from friends and family.
Dizzee - sorry to hear you haven't got a job. Do they pay any benefits out there if you don't work? Glad to hear your scan went well, they are amazing. Glad to hear your furry friend made a speedy recovery. Our pets are just like our children and we worry when they are not well.
afm - 3D scan went well. It was lovely to see her again and it was amazing to see everything in detail. She spent most of the 20 minute scan asleep but did wake up towards the end and spent the rest of the time yawning. Typical, I was expecting a bit more activity! I bet she doesn't sleep like that after she's born. Got another 9 weeks in work, then I've got 2 weeks hols and then I start my maternity leave. My EDD is also 3rd June 2012. My DPs birthday is 5th June and I think he would be over the moon if she was born on his birthday

Hi ladies,
Phoenix- hubby working from home is good...perhaps can lend a little extra help when bubba comes home? My hubby is taking two weeks A/L when she arrives. This will either be great, or my worst nightmare He's like alot of men, when out of his league he panics lol
3Wishes- The scans are fab aren't they...my daughter looks nothing like me tho she has chubby cheeks, and a little squishy nose....so cute! We moved over to the U.S as my hubby works out of D.C, luckily he provides for us both, but I loved working. Am a RN in the UK but will decided what to do when little ones at least 6 months. Would consider most legal things in order to get out and about
AFM- Am now 28wks! Bought our furniture for the nursery. Initially went to a baby boutique...they wanted $2,500 for a set, I couldn't justify it, so of to Ikea we went lol. The whole set cost $650! Slightly better I think.. Has anyone else been getting painful kicks?? Every now and again I keep getting the odd really painful kick, I thinks it's my bladder ouch

Hi all,
I havent been on for a while, time is flying by isn't it! I am still loving being preganant and it seems to be going too fast!!
You all sound very organised, we ordered our buggy today, we went for the Uppababy vista, it had really good reviews on Which.com, really light and easy to use. I am having it delivered to our parents, I am a little bit superstitious and dont want to risk it being in the house!
We have put up the cot and also my Mum has given me the crib that she used for me and my brothers/ sisters, I just need to decide on material and we will cover it together, I think I am going to go for an antique lacy look. It is such a nice thing to do with my Mum....
Baby is kicking well, although whenever DH tries to feel it, it stops, naughty little baby! He has felt it a few times though ) I unforunately do have stretchmarks, not too bad though. Also, my boobs have really started to change, yuk!
Anyone had any cravings, I am loving Ben and Jerrys Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice cream, I cant get enough of it )
I am glad you are all well! I cant wait to hear about all the upcoming scans.
29 weeks now
EDD 30th May
Maternity leave: Mid May
Next scan 32 weeks.
Speak to you all soon! xxxx |

Hi Ladies,
Just popping on to see how everyone is doing - glad to hear all is going well! x
I've had some good kicks recently too my whole tummy moves arounf, its a bit freaky actually lol! No cravings really except for chocolate, but thats pretty normal for me anyway
I've no stretch marks yet but a great big linneus nigellus right down my tummy instead - I'm fair but tan easily and have oily skin, and the darker you are the more the linneus nigellus shows up.
My boobs are also huge - I was a 30G anyway and am now in a 32HH, although I think I might actually be a 32J Think the days of being pert are over lol
Its so exciting getting pram/crib etc - we've done all baby's room now. Pram ordered but not yet arrived.
Had a gestational diabetes test this week which was negative hurrah! I've put an update of my current status below
30w now
EDD 03 June
Mat leave - 16 April
Next scan - 10 April
