Hi Mel
How is eveything your end? How are the kids? D has got an imaginary sister...she literally comes everywhere but he does then just kind of forget about her. Its a little odd when he tells other people about her...depending on who it is you see the person look at me like Ive left her in the car or at home on her own!! I spend alot of time at the moment shaking my head behind him saying 'he doesn't have a sister'!
Have you had much contact from the other angels? Shame about the meet up. Kate let me know and I was all go but sure we will get together soon. We've just been to a climbing frame place as we are getting D one for his Birthday..they are sooo expensive but I'm costing it on a year by year basis (DH likes my creativity) and working it out on how many days he will play with it. He got sooo ridiculously excited when we pulled up. Then bizzarlely friends of ours turned up and he ran around with his friends....he LOVED it. Think I might take him there again...its like a flippin theme park. Imagine climbing frame after climbing frame...and go carts!! It was FREE play...yay!!I must say...he soon dropped his sister..mind you he has just come and told me that he loves his sister....DH keeps saying 'Do I need to worry about this'? I just say...'No darling, its quite normal'. Its funny how Mums have to have all the answers isn't it!
I know you can go into detail on here and sure that one day my email will be back up but would love to hear how its all going with you and the other angels.
Wobally....counting the days with you. I keep looking out for Hutchy on BB&B to see when she has her baby and its the same with you meeting your little one. Two days before I met D for the first time my close friend gave birth to her son....its really special to be sitting here watching two expectant Mummy's wait to meet their babies!!!
Hope everyone is enjoying the bank holiday. Bit too cold though.
Elizabeth

Hi All
Just a real quicky to say 'hi' and sorry for being so negligent the past few weeks! So much going on at the moment - including DS's birthday this weekend so party/cinema/special dinner/visitors/visiting etc going on all weekend plus trying to prepare for LO's imminent arrival. We had our planning meeting yesterday and we're still set for first meeting on Tuesday and then LO's moving-in date is 19 April which is a bit earlier than we'd expected - not that I'm complaining!!
Will catch up properly with everyone else's news and good wishes over the weekend.
Love to all.

Hi ladies,
I have been keeping up with you all but not had chance to reply- had exam and assignments for uni.... yawn!!!!
Sar- glad you enjoyed the course and i'm hoping your panicky feelings are natural as i feel the same!!!!! Enjoy your hols! X
Elizabeth- it was reassuring to read your post and that you felt that way at first! X
Mel- your post reassured me too!! Hope your enjoying having dh at home and enjoying some nice family time x
Wobally- bet you cant wait til tomorrow for first meeting? Is it a mixture of feelings? It will be 19th april before you know it!! X
Woo- hope you had a nice holiday. Fingers crossed for great news on 24th x
Pauline- lovely to read how intros went- keep us posted! X
AFM... We had our approval panel on thursday, felt so anxious but even with 12 on the panel dont think it was as daunting as i thought it would be. They had us and sw in together and asked me n dh few questions, we left and they came out 5 mins later and said it was a unanimous yes!!!!!!!!!! Phew! Then our sw hit us with the news she is leaving so will be anothersw who sees us through matching etc. Felt a bit deflated as i like our sw and was hoping she'd be with us for the whole thing, but sure new sw will be fine! Me n dh went away fri-sun which was a great idea and had a relaxing break!
Feeling a mixture of emotions (is this typical?!) So pleased we've been approved and so excited, but still have a feeling of sadness about never being pregnant- does this go ever? Hope you dont think i'm being really negative after such great news... I'm sure a lot of my mix of emotions is down to trying to juggle so many balls at once so feeling more stressed than normal!
How long after panel do you hear about any possible children? Its exciting times ahead!!!!!!
Hope you are all enjoying the easter break! Sorry for my post, feel like i always have a moan when on here!!!!!size=7][/size] |

Hello all.
Hope everyone is having a lovely Easter - it's flippin' freezing here! And very wet. Thanks for all the congratulations and good wishes.
Hel - Yes, we can't believe in 24 hours we'll have met our son. I have a real mixture of great excitement and awful nervousness. It feels a bit overwhelming but I'm just trying to breathe deeply and stay calm . I felt a real mixture of emotions after approval too - it was a bit of a strange anti-climax after all that activity. Our sw started talking to us about potential links within a couple of weeks of approval panel. Glad you and DH had a relaxing break x
Pauline - I guess your LO must have moved in by now. Hope it's all going well x
Sar - Hope you're having a lovely well-deserved rest. I watched an adoption documentary a couple of years ago and a single adopter on there had her brother as a special support. I'm sure they won't expect you to be completely isolated - that wouldn't be very good for you or LO!! Especially as one of the big issues our sw kept going back to was the importance of a good support network - there's no point having one if you can't use them! We had lots of plans to go to the park and be in the garden with LO this week but it's rather soggy here so not quite sure what plan B is... We haven't bought much at all for him yet - just bedroom furniture and a handful of books/toys - as he is coming with tons of stuff from the foster carers and we wanted to wait and see what he hasn't got. Is it tomorrow you get your fingers back? x
Mel - I hope you're all having a lovely long Easter break x
Woo - how are you all? Hope you're having a good break. x
Elizabeth - maybe D knows something you don't and there's a little sister in the pipeline! x
We're finishing off last minute bits and bobs today to get everything ready for LO and trying to have a rest too. It all seems a bit surreal at the moment but I think once we get started then it'll be fine and will start sinking in a bit more. I hope!! We were planning on stretching intros over 2 weeks but FC was quite adamant that LO is so excited that he'll be ready to move things forward quite quickly. I'm sure it won't all be plain-sailing but I'm so relieved that he's excited about meeting us. The FC has done such a fantastic job.
Well, better crack on. I'll try to pop on tomorrow night with an update.
Hope everyone else is good.

Well I dont know who to congratulate first.
Gosh Hel thats so fantastic well done you. What sort of things did they ask you at the panel?
Wobally - I do hope everything has gone ok for you today? Its absolutely marvelous and i am grinning from ear to ear after reading how excited LO is.
I hope everyone is doing fantastic too. Did you all have a good Easter?
I am so glad Hel that you have been feeling like that too. I am still up and down but feel happier now. Just had my brother on the phone and he nearly made me cry because he said you know that we will always be here for you!! Ah he is so soppy love him to bits. I was discussing about him perhaps going on the friends and family training day which he is really into doing so thats good.
Mel - thanks for the words of encouragement thats so kind its good to know i am not mad.
Well today hopefully is the day I get my fingers back god I cant wait. Off to the hospital in a mo. Then got to take the car for an MOT god I hoep it passes I aint got a bean if it fails!!! Got a busy couple of weeks whilst I am off catching up with friends etc. I am looking forard to it. Just hope this flipping weather bucks up a bit.
Right got to go. Love to everyone and thianks once again everyone for your support your all amazing xx |

Hel - congratulations on passing the panel - hope you do not have to wait too long for a little one
Elizabeth - hope you are coping well with the hols
Mel - are you surviving the hols too
We have a planning meeting on Thursday seems a bit strange planning something when we have no dates really. Have another pre proof hearing on 24th April as BM has no lawyer and will be representing herself. Proof hearing 28th May so maybe looking at middle of June hopefully

Hi All
Sar - hope your fingers are back and behaving! And hope your car behaved too x
Woo - hope your planning meeting is productive. What's the difference between a proof hearing and a pre-proof hearing? x
Well, this morning went really well . The FC said it couldn't have gone any better and, as she knows him so well, I'm happy to agree with whatever she says!! We played lots and had a cuddle and had our photo taken and he called us Mummy and Daddy so all good. And he's adorable . When we'd gone the FC asked him what he thought and he said he loved us and we were funny and just how he wanted us to be . And he keeps asking when he can come to our house. So really, really pleased. Only problem is that I don't feel very well - been feeling off colour for a few days and there's definitely a throat thing coming on... I've dosed up on vitamins and lots of fruit so hopefully I can keep it at bay.
Back there tomorrow for a few hours so looking forward to that.
I hope everyone else is OK and having a good week. It's been cold but lovely and sunny here today.

Congratulations Hel....you are now an expectant mummy!! Scared out of your whits no doubt...normal! Oh yes and don't want to worry you but I first heard about D two weeks after approval panel!!!!!
Woo...good luck for meeting....please tell them that Elizabeth Hope is now running out of patience and is going to attach herself to the railings on the Royal Mile if they don't pull their fingers out. If that doesn't work tell them the English are quicker than them......Whooaaa...am I going too far??!! Anyway....all the best chick. I'm not having to deal with holidays yet...he starts school sept so still in the comfort of nursery hours!
Mel....hoping that DD is ok and that this is a normal temp that she bounces back from quickly. D used to have so many temps...most teething temps but he seemed to ill for a whole year when he was teething. WIshing you all some sleep.
All ok here. D is now in a big bed in the air...can't think of the name of them...sort of bunk bed. He's 4 this week....yay...hes a BIG boy now. He's actually the age stepson was when I met his dad so I am now back in familar territory...we made it!!!! Phew. I know what to do with four yr old boys...play outside alot...join sports clubs...give them lots of hot chocolate and stories and cuddles.
Sar...your brother sounds fab!! Hope your fingers are working soon. Stop doubting yourself...you are a much needed and wanted Mummy to be to someone. It will all work out perfectly.
Right better be off.
Wobally, keep us posted.

Wow elizabeth, that phrase "expectant mummy"......... never thought that would apply to me, could cry........ Don't think we will hear as quickly as you due to sw swap andmy course finishes in 10 weeks so they implied they would try and time things with that.
Wobally - so happy your first day went so well!!!!! Hope you're feeling better x
Forgot to tell you one bit of panel.... the journey there!!! So much snow that 5 mins into journey car spun 360 and got stuck in a drift, dh had to dig us out!!!!!!
Sar, they asked us how we felt it would be different being parents from being professionals (both work with kids), what i was going to do about work, thoughts on contact with birth family and about a child with autism that we used to provide respite care for. So probably not much help as quite 'us' specific! You got your fingers back now?! |

Hel - that sounds like a bit of a journey to get to your panel meeting These people really get inside your head and get you thinking about things don't they. You will be well prepared for little one when they come
Elizabeth - haha thanks hun for your comments made me laugh lol Is it a cabin bed he has? My DD had one of those and she had it until she was 11 years old!! I hope he enjoys it What are you doing for his birthday? I hope you have a great day with him. Our little one will be four in July so hopefully get him before then. FC's have said that he wants a bike for his birthday and they have left that for us to buy for him - if we get him before then!! Had a phone call from SW the other day and he has said that BM will be representing herself in court. The pre proof meeting is to determine that she has everything ready for court for proof on 28 May.
Wobally - glad to hear your first day of intros went well hun Your little one sounds really well prepared for you and your hubby. FC's seem to have carried out their job really well I hope you are feeling better today and keep dosing up on those vitamins What age group is your little one?
Mel - hope little one is feeling better today - how are you hun?
DD has been in bed since we got back on Sunday night - she has asthma and took her to the doctors on Monday and ke has doubled her dose of inhalers

Just a quickie as I am trying to catch up on some rest while DD is sleeping and DH has taken DS out.
We ended up in A&E last night as DD's temp was raging and she was crying a lot, not settling to sleep and just not her at all. Previous temperatures from teething have not caused her the distress this one did and I knew I wouldn't sleep unless we got her seen. After 2 calls with NHS Direct, waiting for a out of hours Doc to ring.....who didn't and after 20 minutes of waiting I decided to take her to A&E. My Mum came and stayed with DS who slept through it all!! Apparently about 20 minutes after we went to hospital a ofh nurse rang and said we had done what she was going to suggest. After 3 hours they decided we should go home and keep doing the calpol, fluids and watching out for a rash. DD did finally go to sleep for about 3 hours before she started crying again and was shaking so much and getting really upset. More medicine and into our bed where we dozed for about an hour before I got up with her and left DH to sleep. No sign of a rash, thankfully, but she is far from right. Still got a temperature and not happy but hoping she will feel better after some more sleep.
DS has never been an ill child and DD to date hasn't really suffered so I guess we have been lucky so far but OMG!!! last night was horrible, I hate seeing her feeling so poorly and was worried about meningitis as the high temp with cold hands and feet are early signs, she was also sensitive to light.
Woo - hope your DD is feeling better soon xx

Mel....all sounds very worrying. I do think temps are the most scary. Hope DD is on the mend soon but I think it sounds like you did the right thing. When D had crupe we were waiting for the out of hours to call but headed straight to A&E, they called when we were nearly there and said they would arrange for a peadatric consultant to meet us and they did and I have to say they handled it very well and admitted him quickly. In the end a mother does know best and some good docs get that. Yes most times the temp is just the bodys way of fighting infection but other times it needs the help of the medics.
Well done on trusting your gut. Hope you get a better night. How old is DD now? Its def harder when they are little and can't tell you how they feel.
Hel....yes expectant mummy is just what you are chick!!
Woo....I mean it, tell em wont you!! Hope DD is better with her asthma...poor love. Hope shes soon on the mend.
Wobally, hope things went well today. Saw H today, she can't tell me any details but did say that she thought it would be good for both D and your little one. H is poorly too....bet its all the excitement.
Well, its official....we have started again...... Had our first visit today!! It's taken alot of soul searching and waiting for that feeling to kick in but it has and although I approach it this time with a few nerves I know we are doing the right thing by trying. If our child is out there then he/she will find her way home. If not then we are already blessed.
Right off to shops to get my boy a birthday cake for nursery. I'm a bit behind myself but his party isn't until next week. This is just for his morning at nursery on Friday.

So much going on at the moment on here, I will catch up properly I promise!
Took DD to GP Wednesday tea time as I wasn't happy that A&E had checked her over properly....she has a throat infection and GP thinks a urinary infection so she is on antibiotics. She was sick during Wednesday night but since then hasn't been and today seems to be a better day after a reasonably good nights sleep. GP wasn't impressed that A&E hadn't checked her throat, ears etc as she would have definitely been suffering then.
Will be glad when school starts next week and DH is back at work!!

Hi All
Elizabeth - Happy birthday for little D. I hope he enjoyed his nursery cake. And congratulations to you all on starting your new journey. How exciting! x
Mel - poor DD. I hope she's feeling much better now and your nerves are less frazzled with worrying! You'd have thought they'd have looked, wouldn't you... x
Woo - our LO is 4 in the summer too and starting school in September so almost exactly the same age as yours. How's DD? Hope she's feeling better. x
Sar - are the fingers working? x
Hel - hope all's OK with you and you've been enjoying some time off from your course x
Hope everyone else is well.
All's fine here. We haven't got LO today - DH and DS have gone out on a boys' trip for the day which they've had booked for ages and I'm catching up with stuff! The week has gone really well. LO came here for the first time on Friday and said to DH, 'Daddy, I really love my new bedroom.' Bless him! LO and DS have hit it off brilliantly and LO has been perfectly happy playing here all day - but then we've had some wobbles with taking him back to FC's at night. I also think he's not really understanding that come Thursday he'll be here full-time - but we've got a few days to work on it so hopefully he'll be OK by then. It's been great fun but really, really tiring. And he's totally gorgeous and really funny
It's soooooooo quiet here today!!!

Hi Wobally - have been watching to see if you had any more posts about your intros feel as if I am going through it with you hun thanks for posting.
Your LO sounds really good I hope things continue to keep going well. When will LO move in? Our DD is 12 she will be 13 in October this year. What age is your DS? Sounds as if he is handling it well enough.
DD is feeling much better thanks just a few days of rest and using her inhalers more has helped so no more doctor visits so far!!
We had a planning meeting and wrote down a plan of consective days whenever LO would be coming no dates just some basis of a plan. It looks like he could be here within 9/10 days all being well. There will be a co-ordination meeting on day 5 during intros to see how things are going or if any changes need to be made to the following days. How many days are your intros? Enjoy your quiet day today hun:)
Going to Glasgow tomorrow night to see Mrs Brown's Boys meeting Mum in Glasgow and staying over should be back Tuesday night.
Hope everyone is well.
Take care.

Hi Woo
LO moves in on Thursday - we have him all day tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday but are taking him back to FC's for bath/bed on those days but Thursday he's sleeping here and won't go back! I really feel for him as I think he thinks he's got his new family/house/bedroom but that he's going to keep the old ones as well .
DS is actually my stepson and doesn't live with us but he's here a lot - he's 11 so we've got a similar age gap to you. He seems great with it all so far.
I'm really glad DD is feeling much better. DS has asthma too and it's horrible to see him struggling sometimes.
We met LO on Tuesday and he'll be moving in on Thursday so our plan was 10 days and we had a 'review' meeting on day 4 so much the same as your plan.
Have fun in Glasgow!!
I really hope the courts sort out your LO soon, Woo. It's such a shame and I can't wait for you to be where we are now. It's magical

Wobally - hey hun our plan sounds exactly like yours!!
Our lives sound quite similar in some ways. I could be writing your posts lol
Glad DS is doing okay with your little one. Asthma is quite scary DH and I do not have it. DD has been asthmatic for about 2 years now. My brother is asthmatic. It is hard to watch someone struggle to get a breath sometimes. She does have triggers, animal hair, cigarette smoke. We were at my mum's for a couple of days and I think that was it she smokes and has a big hairy dog lol!!
I hope the rest of your intros go well Wobally and I hope thinks go smoothly on the Thursday. You are doing a great job Wobally with him and he seems to be doing well in to the intros. Our little one will be 4 in July and hopefully start school in September
DD is really looking forward to him coming not too much longer to go now it has to finish sometime
Take care hun and look after yourself

Hi Woo
Yes, we're living almost parallel lives!
We have cats but they don't seem to affect DS at all - it's usually if he's been doing something physical like bouncing on a bouncy castle but we've had some really scary times with him. And if ever he gets a cold it seems to go straight on to his chest.
Thanks lots for the good wishes. I hope we're doing a good job so far. We're picking him up at 9.30 tomorrow for the whole day so that will be lovely. Can't wait.
Yes, your ordeal must come to an end sometime very soon and I really hope it comes to the most fantastic end possible.
Thanks Woo.

Hi Everyone
I do hope that everyones feeling ok and your LO's are all feeling better now.
I cant believe how Woo and Wobally seem to be living the same life LOL its so funny to read your posts LOL.
So glad that the intros are going so well Wobally. I bet you cant wait for Thursday.
Woo - your gettting ever closer hun. Oh I am so excited for everyone.
Elizabeth - congrats on trying again. Do you have to go through all the process again or do you just jump right to matching?
Mel - Hope your okay and that LO is bouncing around and feeling much better.
Hel - Are you enjoying the rest?
AFM - I started back at the pub Sunday night which was good I enjoyed it but as I am still off on hols it hasnt effected me as it will next week when I only get 5 hours sleep Sunday and Monday night and then work a full day too!!!! Oh the joys of it all.
My hand seems to be coping well so thats good. still aches a little but I suppose that is to be expected.
I got a letter the other day off SS and they have passed my info to the right branch/office and apparently i now have to wait 2 months for an appointment. If I havent heard by then I am to give them a ring. boy they must be so busy. I got in touch with the others on my course and half had had the same letter and the other half had had nothing as of yet but they are basically living the otherside of the county so maybe the branch/office down there works differnetly.
I am just sat here waiting for my new fence panels to arrive. I am just hoping the rain stays away so that I can get my garden sorted out it looks such a mess at the mo. Was spraying the weeds like a maniac yesterday LOL. I seemed to be in one of those moods yeatreday to do bits and pieces so i dismanteled my glass lamp shade and washed all its bits and pieces gosh it looks so sparkly now then i washed all my cupboards down in the kitchen, sorted out the weeds, went over the grass with weed killer. Think I might tackle the oven later I hate that job!!!!
Well off to get a coffee before I get stuck into my jobs for today.
Have a good one everyone and I will catch up soon.
take care xxxxx |

Was in Glasgow last night to see Mrs Browns Boys i was so funny I think I have hurt my ribs with laughing so much. We were 6 rows from the front of the stalls so it was a fab view could almost reach out at touch them. Not for the faint hearted though lol

Woo...I LOVE Mrs Browns boys!!!! Dh does too!!
SAR...you have made me tired just reading your days activities!! Good for you. its a bit like nesting maybe. keep it up. Once you have a little one you will be glad you did.
Had our medicals today!! We are far too laid back about it at the mo.
Good luck Wobally for tomorrow. Its the most emotional thing in the world but it really is super amazing. Bite back the tears and make sure you sing happy things on the way the journey home. NO tears OK!!!!
