I am sorry for such an indulgent post but I wanted to tell all the fab Mummies that got me through the first year that the little monkey that came home aged 13months is now 4!!! He was sad today when I said he was 3 today and 4 tomorrow as he seemed to think he was already 4. He said 'I'm a little bit 4 Mummy'. It's very important at this age isn't it?! 
As I sit here tonight I spare a thought for his Birth Mummy and say a thank you to the angels for bringing him home to me.
A very big Thank you to all the Mums that shared the early days and a massive thank you to the adoption angels that lived the process with me.

Elizabeth, how wonderful, I hope that you all have a lovely day with your big boy! It won't be long and he'll be off to school. Then he'll be really grown up!

Haha....no chance I would ever get to call him little D to his face.....No he is def my big boy now and yes school in Sept.
Thanks girls, I hope you all know how much you all helped and still do. It was a very lonely time at first as we both missed out on all the anti natal prep stuff so I really was like a baffoon with a baby!! Poor D 
Your kids all look so gorgeous and amazinlgy grown up.....god lets not blink.... they will soon be leaving and getting married if we do!!

Oh my Elizabeth
I remember it like it was yesterday as my friends got their son placed with them around the same time. It's scarey how quickly they grow up.
I'm sure you were no baffoon - I really believe it comes naturally to those that want to be a mummy so badly - which is definitely all of us on here - although I'm sure we still make mistakes.
Hope you had a wonderful day. As you say their age is very important at this stage. When I tell DS he is to young to do something (at 4.5!) he says well can I do it when I'm older - like next week  ! Aren;t they funny !

Just a quickie...LOL robbo at your son...yes D said this morning 'I am going to sit next to you'. He means in the car as I have always said he can't sit in the front unitl he is a big boy!! DOH silly Mummy. Should have seen his poor face when I said 'Yes when you are 8'!! He looked soo confused..  Bet he was saying inside...'For gods sake Mummy I have put all my effort into getting big and being 4 and now you double it'....LOL thats life girls hey??!!
Poor brother in hospital with appendicitis...found out late last night....poor bugger. I'm a bit torn as close to him so want to be with him but it's an hour away and I need to focus on D today. DOn't you love the guilt you get as a Mummy.

Happy 4th Birthday D!!!
Wow! Where has that time gone? It doesn't seem that long ago we were talking about whether he was the right match for you. I know it was hard at first, think we build ourselves up to be super mummy and are going to be great and have a fab time doing all these things that we've wanted to do for so long and that our LOs have missed out on from the start, and then reality kicks in and we find it hard with no one with children around the same age or being part of a little group at baby/toddler groups. We get conditioned to look for 'issues' and feel we have let them down when we shout or aren't as therapeutic as we promised to be............Even now I get those days. You have come a long way and have been a fab mummy to D and one day he will realise just how lucky he is.

Thanks girlies.....D has had a great day. He went to nursery and his fab key worker made a real fuss of him, then we went to Grandma and Grandad's and he has been spoilt. Ketler go cart no less from Granny...crazy really but then it makes them as happy as it makes D. As we were coming away...totally unprompted he said 'Thank you for my presents, you made me very happy'. We all looked at each other and went ARHHHH!!! None of us had said it to him so it must have come straight from the heart.
It's been a roller coaster 3 years and it has been my absolute pleasure to share them all with you. Sending you all a big 'Mwah' kiss from me and D!!
Just got to work on a brother or sister now.....never ever thought I would utter those words. Mel you had it spot on of course...well here we go again! For godsake I am 40 and tired...I must be mad but if there is one more little lost soul out there with my name on then I guess I need to make it welcome. We will see what the next year brings....

Aww Elizabeth,
what a lovely post my friend adopted after 10yrs and 150k on ivf they got a giril(now 11) and then a boy(now  both at 6mths old, its a different hard she says but so worth it, we wish you all the luck in the world with no 2.....

Sorry Just saw this and yes it's just dawning on me that I now have to do all the settling stuff with school...arghhh just as I got nursery sorted!!! It's two weeks here too. May 2nd!! I have already met the Senco at the 1st choice as whatever happens he is going to need extra support, even if it is emotional and not academic...although I think it might be. His birth parents were both dyslexic so highly likely. Doesn't worry me as DH's dads family are all dyslexic anyway.
OMG Sharon Xaviers eyes.....I thought BIG D had blue eyes!! Thanks for the wishes for no 2. It's scaring us both a bit and that's not to say we don't want one but our lives are settling down and in an ideal world we would have had kids close togther. Things with D have been more challenging so it's all been a bit delayed but I am big believer in what is meant for you will come to you when the time is right.
Right better rescue DH.....D is having a bath and it sounds like Daddy is wearing most of it!!

Elizabeth - I have just found out that our date is Friday the 27th. Big POO!!! We are going away that day and not back until the Tues.
Typical. Not sure whether to delay going by a day, or try to find internet access in the back of welsh beyond!

I would give a family member the log in details and give them the job...you can go away and await their call!! Holidays are good and computers are bad!! 
At the end of the day both of our little ones are going to struggle more than most at settling but we will rise to the challenge just as we do with everything else... Proud Mummy, flexing muscles with pride!!
I will pop over over onto your other thread otherwise D will keep being 4 tomorrow and as proud of that as I am I don't want hog things...HAHA!!
