Hi ladies,

tazzy - sorry your little man is suffering, he's too small for calpol isn't he? did they say how long till he should be better?

katy, bless you, catching all the germs, me and DH got a cold but it only seamed to last 48 hours which was good.

afm, my friend says the baby slings are good for breastfeeding as no one can see so you can do it while walking around so i just ordered one, will keep you updated if its any good.

hope you ladies and your little ones are well, much love H xx

Hi,

Obi - I can't wait to take M swimming. She loves the bath so I'm sure she'll love swimming. Are you planning to do any other sessions like baby signing or anything?

Hannah - I've got a Moby sling, I've only tried using it once so far so I'm still trying to get the hang of tying it. I'm going to buy a baby carrier for when we go on holiday as I don't think hubby would be too happy wearing the sling!

Tazzy - Poor Daniyal! I hope he feels better soon.

We've been out for lunch and done a bit of shopping this afternoon, now I'm absolutely shattered! Looks like an evening on the sofa!

Hope everyone else is ok!

katy,
an evening on the sofa sounds good. i've just made a lemon drizzle cake to take to my friends as were going over for tea and whilst ive been baking DH and the dog are asleep on sofa and alice is asleep in her swing lol theyre all lazy bums.
they dont seam to do any baby classes at my childerns centre Sad except baby massage. i took her to toddler playgroup but she slept through it. and i went to a first aid class with amanda (hopefull) at her childrens centre which is only about 10 mins away. that was good. i cant wait to take alice swimming, she has her check and jabs on 18th so should be ok after that.
i ordered the babasling you don't tie that one it has a clip, i saw it in boots for £40 but DH thinks i wont use it and it would be a waste so found one on ebay brand new with tags for £26 inc postage then its not so bad if i dont use it.

Hi Hannah,

I don't think baby signing and stuff like that are based at children's centres. I'm looking for classes on the Internet, hopefully I'll find some classes locally. My friend did baby signing and said it was brilliant and her son used it a lot. His language is amazing at two and a half, she puts it down to the early development of communication. My mil keeps going on about 'Water Babies' but I think the classes are quite expensive. I keep telling her I'm sure I can find a cheaper swimming class but she keeps saying that her friends say Water Babies is the best. Honestly, what her friends don't know about raising a baby...grrr! Anyway, hope you find the sling useful, I think I had mine a bit too tight when I tried it - m was not a happy bunny!

Hi,

The park is called Hall Leys Park and it's right in the centre of Matlock. The postcode is DE4 3AT if you want to have a look on google maps. There's a bandstand in the middle which might be a good landmark to meet at. There's loads of grass areas and a play park, little boating lake, splash/paddling area by the play park - it's just lovely! It's also two minutes walk from a Wetherspoons pub if it's raining (there are lots of others but I know Wetherspoons pubs usually let kids in - I'm sure the others would too).

The one problem with Matlock is that the traffic can be really bad on the A6 through Matlock Bath just after Cromford but I think that would only affect people coming from the south. We went to Matlock at the weekend via junction 28 on the M1 and followed the signs for Matlock A615 which brings you right into the centre.

Let us know if we're to bring something specific or if we're just bringing our own stuff. It might be easier to pack up for ourselves just in case people can't make it at the last minute, but I'll go along with what everyone else decides.

Hope you're all ok.

Hi everyone!

Well I had my postnatal check today and I'm allowed to drive again! Yay! I can't wait to get out and about just M and I. I can also start exercising properly again which I'm pleased about.

M spent the past two days feeding non stop and has spent most of today sleeping - I guess she needs to rest with all this growing she's doing!

Hope everyone is well. It's very quiet on here these days!

glad your check up went ok and you can drive again Smile

alice has her check up and jabs on friday. everyone likes the idea of your park on facebook so thats deff the plan for where were going, i think we will decide nearer the time about food once we have an idea what the weather is going to be like. its lovely here today, the perfect day to go out, but DH is at work Sad but if he was off we would only have been digging up the garden as its concrete and stones atm and i want to dig it up so we can have grass put down for alice to play on when she's bigger Smile

i got my baba sling, the first time i used it she fed but seamed uncomfy the second 2 times ive tried it she just screamed, but i want to keep practicing as i'm going to alton towers for the day next sat and would be ideal to feed her while walking round.

anyway hope your all well and have a great weekend xx

Hi everyone!

Hannah - Apparently babies are supposed to love these slings, but M screamed when I put her in mine too. I've just got a baby carrier which is a bit more practical for sharing with hubby and when I tried her in that she still wasn't keen. I think she just likes to feel 'free'! She's going to have to get used to it soon though, as we're having a few days up in the lake district so need an easy way to get about and the pram isn't always practical!

Tare - Nights aren't too bad once we actually get to sleep. She goes down between half ten and two depending on how she feels and it's constant feeding for about three hours before then. Once she's asleep she goes for up to 4 hrs on a good night, though the past few days it's been every hour and a half, if that! I hope this growth spurt finishes soon, I'm so tired I think I could fall asleep standing up! How is Teo getting on?

I'm going to try to put her down now while she's dozing! She must sound as if she's a totall nightmare but honestly she's not - she just doesn't want to sleep in case she misses something!

Hope you're all ok and that all our babies are well!

Hi Katy,

Teo is very similar. Once he decides it's bedtime he can go anywhere from 1 hour to 3.5 between feeds but he doesn't usually decide its bedtime before half 12, 1 o'clock!! The other night he went from 10-7.30 only waking twice which was bliss but a one off!! He has really mastered the smile though so any number of feeds can be forgiven when they are requested with a big smile Very Happy

Glad you are loving motherhood, I hope M settles from her growth spurt soon xxx

We have a baby carrier too, i used it yesterday when we went for a walk on the moors, she likes it better then the sling but not as much as her pushchair. As for sleeping Alice varies so much, we've had many nights where she's gone down at 11 got up at 2,5 and then up at 8 but we still get nights where the longest she will go is 1 and a half hours. It makes me wonder if I do something different or let her sleep too long on those days.

Tare I agree those smiles do make it easy to forgive, sometime
Times when she cries and I check my phone and it's only been an hour since last feed I'm so grumpy then I put my glasses on and look at her and she's smiling at me and I forget I'm grumpy and play with her lol

If this doesn't make sense I blame dh's iPhone.
Anyway hope your all having a good weekend x x

Hi!

Hannah - M doesn't like her pram much, she likes to be up and nosing about. I'm hoping she'll take to the carrier as it'll give her more to see than the sling does.

Tare - I'm glad that M has been doing the same as other babies of the same age. It's difficult sometimes knowing what is 'normal'. You're so right about the smiles. M looks adorable and is charming everyone with her beams! It's amazing to have little conversations with her. She's changing so quickly! She's grown loads in the past week but I think we're through the growth spurt now.

Well we've had successes on two counts today! M slept for 6 hours, though I didn't! I had to keep replacing her blanket when she kicked it off as I think she's been waking up cold rather than hungry sometimes. I think a gro bag may be the way forward. I got much more sleep as I wasn't up for an hour at a time. The other success is that I've lost another pound (1st 12lb to go!) so I'm feeling great this morning!

I'd better go. Mum's coming to babysit in a bit so I can pop out for an hour to go swimming. Finally I can get back to doing some proper exercise!

I hope everyone is well!

Hi everyone!

Hope everyone is well - it's very quiet on here!

Tare - How is Teo getting on with his sleeping bag? I've got a 1.5 tog bag which we're going to try out tonight. I just hope it's warm enough for her - I'm terrified of her overheating while we're all asleep!

Tazzy - How are you getting on?

Hannah - how are you getting on with the sling now?

We had a scare last night, the motion sensor alarm went off twice. Hubby was out of bed like a shot. Everything was fine though, M didn't even wake up! Hopefully it'll work properly tonight!

Hope everyone else is ok. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the picnic!

Hello people!! So sorry I've been AWOL!!

1stly, my internet stopped workin!! But its back on track now Smile
2ndly, jus been sooo busy!!

Can't wait 4 the picnic 2 ladies, shld b so good!! Smile

Let me know if the grobags r good, I haven't got one yet, didn't know if it was worth gettin as D is such a fussy sleeper!!
Well, he officially hates his moses basket! He will not sleep in there for more than 10 seconds! Have tried him in his cotbed at night and he seems 2 like it better as its more spacious and he likes 2 spread out...but I must confess...this past week he has been sleepin next 2 me. This is mainly due to the colic. He wakes up in pain and it soothes him if I rub his back or tummy, it was difficult doin that while he was in the cotbed. Howeva, 2day I bought DR Browns bottles 2 c if they help. DH's friend said he got some and his DD is similar age 2 D and she sleeps thru the night! D still wakin up every 3 hours, mainly due 2 tummy ache, am hopin these bottles will settle him.

He also has a horrible rash on his cheeks, any1 else have that? As I read its pretty normal. Took him DR's as it was very red and really irritatin him and she prescribed diprobase, which seems 2 b doin the trick Smile

Well, he's fast asleep nxt 2 me, betta try 2 get some rest as his nxt feed shld b around 2ish!!

Hope ur all well Smile

Hugs 2 all beautiful babies Smile xxxxx

Hi ladies,

Katy, Teo loves his sleeping bag - it is a 1 tog and he is so easy to manouvre once he is in it. Our sling is an absolute god send too - 2 seconds in it and he is fast asleep and stays that way for hours and hours unless you take him out! I went to the cinema with a friend last week (a special screening for mums and babies) and we both 'wore' our babies and they were the only 2 that slept through the entire film Smile

Tazzy, welcome back Smile
sorry to hear D is waking in pain, but glad you are coping by bed sharing meaning you still get plenty of sleep. I would have thought the sleeping bag would be ideal for him, as no matter how much he fusses he wont get his covers off so wont wake because he is cold. I hope his rash is improving. my friends daughter had a nasty rash on her cheeks and was prescribed steroid cream by the GP and it has improved no end Smile

I cant wait for the picnic either - really looking forward to meeting everyone.

Katy sleeping bags are fab, if you have a warm house a 1.5 tog is fine, when it gets warmer i thinking just to let noah sleep in a sleep suit. but for now i luv gro bags. duting the day if i take him up for a nap i still use a light blanket. I like to tuck his arms in and is helps to send him to sleep.

Tazzy the colic bottles should help within a week or so, but i think they just gradually grow out of the colic , tbh. I dont do co sleeping so scared ill squash him, im not a light sleeper. Also my dh a big fella and impossible to wake if noah was between us he would def get squashed. I would keep at the cotbed because if he sleeping ok in it now, you could be saving yourself problems in a few months. however like tare said at least u getting sleep and thats important. do get a grobag they really are fab.

so looking forward to seeing you girls soon at picnic.
p.s if you are wondering where hannah is . her password for bb went wrong and she has spent last week trying to set up new on e etc. xx

lots of love

Hi!

I wondered where Hannah was!

Tazzy - I hope Daniyal's rash clears up soon. I can recommend the baby sleeping bags. I got mine from Tesco - I was bought one as a gift but it was age 6-12 months so I took it back to get a 0-6 months one and they were on offer so I got two for the price of one! I tried it last night and Maia slept for five and a half hours straight! The Tesco ones are cheap enough for you to try out and if he doesn't like it then you haven't wasted your money.

Tare - That cinema trip sounds fantastic. I shall have to persevere with my sling I think! Maia loves to be held so I'm sure she'll get used to it. When does Teo have his injections? We're going on Tuesday.I need to get to clinic first for a weigh in.

Obi - I feel exactly the same as you about sleeping with baby - I'mfar too scared to even try it. I sometimes wake up convinced M is in bed with me and panic when I can't find her, only to discover I've tucked her into her Moses basket after feeding her as usual!

Well as I said, M had her first night in a sleeping bag last night and it went really well. I wasn't sure what to dress her in as it was 18-19 degrees in our room and so I tried her in a vest and sleep suit with the 1.5 togand she seemed comfortable with that - I kept checking she wasn't too hot and I'm sure she'd have let me know if she was cold. Unfortunately the motion sensor alarm kept going off again, I think there must be something wrong with it but I'm too scared to switch it off now just in case. I guess I'd rather have false alarms than no alarms!

I hope everyone is well and that Hannah gets sorted and back on here soon!

Hi!

Tazzy - Try not to worry, M sometimes has a bit of a cry mid-feed. I think it's just because she gets a little wind pain. Everything always seems worse in the night. I hope the sleeping bag works. Daniyal is growing fast, isn't he?!? He's overtaken M as well!

Tare - Has Teo had his first injections yet? M had hers this afternoon. She cried and so did I - how pathetic! Blame the hormones!

M is now 9lb 13oz, exactly where she should be! I'm so pleased the weather has improved - I can't wait to spend some time in the sunshine! We've been rushing around all day, I'm looking forward to putting my feet up this evening!

Hope everyone is ok and that babies are doing well.
