Hey ladies, I also would recommend the sleeping bags Alice has grown out of her 0-3 one ad just moved into 0-6. The weather has been amazing today here too, I left my jobs till this evening and went to the park with Alice and my friend instead.
Tazzy glad D's weigh in went well, Alice screams alot mid feed in the evening I think it's because she gets frustrated that she isn't getting the milk quick enough as when I lose patients and give her to Steve to give expressed milk she calms down, but that's just a theory.
Katy, hope M is ok after her injections,
Tare looks like you had a lively e picnic earlier
Hope your all well x x |

Hi Hannah!
How are you finding expressing? Do you have an electric pump or a manual one? My HV suggested I try expressing as she said Maia needs to be able to take a bottle when I go back to work, but as I'm planning to take a full year I don't think she will as I'm hoping she'll have a training cup by then. I don't want to fork out on a pump and bottles if I don't need to.
We've been enjoying the sunshine - it's been non-stop the past few days! We went out for a picnic today which was lovely. Then we had a trip to two branches of Mothercare to exchange our faulty baby monitor after we were woken up three times again last night when Maia was perfectly fine. We decided to go for a different brand after reading online that lots of other people have had the same problem with the Tommee Tippee one and so now we're just getting to grips with the new system. Who knew these things could be so complicated?!? I'm absolutely shattered as although M was starting to sleep through, my HV told me I should wake her up to feed her in the hot weather so that she doesn't dehydrate. That's all well and good, but she seems to think I'm waking her up for playtime and it takes about an hour to settle her again once she's fed! It doesn't help matters that she keeps giving me the cutest smiles...I could sit watching her for hours when she does that!
Right, M's asleep so I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for an alarm-free night!
Hope everyone is well and that the babies are ok.
Love Katy x |

Morning Katy,
I hope you got your monitor sorted and you got through the night alarm free
I disagree with your HV (personally, I dont have a professional opinion). I would have thought M would have woken up if she were thirsty, and as long as you are getting in enough feeds during the day, I don't see any reason why M should dehydrate! Well done on getting her to sleep through btw, any tips??
Hope you have a lovely Sunday xxx |

Hi Tare!
The new monitor worked a treat! Hopefully it will continue to do so!
I would have thought the same about her waking up if she's thirsty, but because he's said I should wake her I'm worried that if I don't wake her up...you know what it's like! As for her sleeping through I've got no tips I'm afraid, it's pretty much down to her! She feeds for about an hour and a half to two hours before she goes down, usually some time between half ten/eleven and then wakes up between half five and six, then usually has another hour or two after feeding. She was starting to go longer and when she woke up she'd kicked the blankets off and only fed for a couple of minutes so I thought she was probably waking up because she was cold rather than hungry, so I started using a sleeping bag. It's far too hot at the moment though, I can't get our room below 24 degrees even with fans and having all the windows open, so she's been sleeping in a short sleeved body suit with a sheet (which she kicks off) but she seems comfortable and only wakes up because of me - I'm just hoping this won't become a routine once the hot weather ends!
How is Teo getting on? Is everything ok with you as well?
Love Katy x |

Hi all
Katy, ur lucky at gettin ur room at 24 degrees, mine won't go below 26!
Although sayin that, D has been sleepin so much betta in the heat!! He seems to be fallin asleep around 9-10pm and tgen wakin up around 3-4am for a feed. He has jus a little feed then falls back asleep for about 4-5 hours!! I'm lovin it! Jus hoping soon he can go without the 3-4am feed 2!!
We went to the park yesterday but we didn't enjoy it! Being a park, there were trees everywhere and poor D was shivering as it was windy as he was dressed 4 the summer!
My hayfever kicked in ysterday, HATE IT! Can't even enjoy the summer and it makes me so irritable and angry! Poor DH!
Well, D is still asleep since 10am! Hopefully he won't b grumpy 2day, as he usually is if he doesn't sleep well!
Hope everyone else is well |

Hi ladies,
We have had a lovely day in the park, Alice still gets up twice on a good night. Though she slept for nearly 6 hours in one go last night.
Katy, glad your new monitor is working. I find I haven't had time to express for ages as you need to wait so long after a feed and Alice is feeding all the time, but when I do she takes the bottle fine.
Hope you had a better day today tazzy
Will be lively if the weather is this nice for our picnic |

Hi,
Tazzy - Hope you're not suffering too much with the hay fever! Glad to hear D is sleeping better!
Hannah - I was thinking that when HV suggested expressing - I dont really get enough time between feeds so I think I'll leave it tbh.
I don't know if it's just because I'm tired, but I've been feeling really teary the past couple of days. There's no reason for it, I'm so happy being with M and absolutely loving being a mummy. Has anyone else felt like this?
On a more positive note I'm taking M swimming for the first time today, which I'm really looking forward to, and I've lost another pound this week despite eating a load of rubbish!
Hope everyone else is well and that babies are all ok!

Hello ladies
Jus after some info..
D seems 2 be sleepin a lot lately, is that normal in the heat?
Also, he is crying a lot! If he's not sleepin or feedin, he is crying! Its gettin so bad that I don't want 2 go out anywhere as he is so loud and sounds as though he's in pain! He usually cries a lot and then falls asleep...has this happened 2 any1 u know?
When he is crying, I hold him close to me and put him on my chest and he relaxes and falls asleep.
Hate seeing my baby upset
Hugs 2 u all xx |

Hi all,
Well we have just got back from T's first vaccinations I hated seeing someone hurt him.
Katy, Teo has definitely been needing more sleep whilst it has been warm, I have just let him get on with it. Do tell us how swimming went, we are keen to go, just need to find time!!
I don't know what to suggest re the crying Tazzy, are you sure he isn't too hot?? Teo has been wearing next to nothing and still feeling warm. I try and hold him as little as possible and have a hand held fan which he loves having near him.
Hugs x |

Hi everyone!
Tare - It's horrible when they have their jabs, I found I got really upset even though my rational brain was thinking 'this is what's best for her'. Not long until the next set. Swimming went really well. I struggled to find the smallest size swim nappies but Ocado stock them - £6 for a 'first swim kit' which includes 6 nappies and a towel. I think it's a bit steep in comparison to what you pay for a pack of the next size up! Anyway, M seemed happy enough in the pool. I held her on her back and she enjoyed kicking her legs about. I had a slight panic when she turned her head and sniffed up a load of water, then spent the rest of the day getting myself all worked up that she was going to suffer secondary drowning - honestly, I don't know what is wrong with me, I'm getting very irrational worries! I ended up at the docs last night anyway so he did a thorough check while we were there and put my mind at rest. It's certainly not going to put us off!
Tazzy - Have you been giving Daniyal water as well as formula? You might find he is a bit thirsty in the heat. I know breastfed babies don't need water supplement but bottle fed babies do need extra fluid. Maia has spent most of the past few days in just a nappy or a cotton romper suit if we've gone out as I've been worried about her overheating. Hope things are better for you.
Hannah - I went swimming with my friend and her little boy. I didn't want to go alone the first time and dh wasn't bothered about going.
I'm feeling less teary than I was and we're having a few days away in the Lakes, dh is joining us on Friday so I think that will help me chill out a bit!
Hope everyone else is well and that babies are doing ok!

Hi Katy,
Glad swimming went well, bless you worrying, Alice eats bubbles out the bath all the time, I think im a very laid back parent, I don't worry about things much I was the same with her jabs. It helps that she didn't seam to mind too much I guess.
Well I either have hey fever or cold cos I feel terrible. Hope it goes soon. Also Alice had done nothing but eat for about 3 days.
Tare, hope Teo is feeling better and so are you

Hi,
Hannah - I've been really chilled out since M was born, it's only been the past couple of weeks that the anxiety has set in!
M and I are enjoying her first holiday. It'll be lovely when dh comes up tomorrow. It's funny thinking that I was here when I got my bfp and now I'm here with my gorgeous little girl! 😃
Hope all is well with everyone!

Hello every1!! I hav a spare 5 minutes 2 post!! Wow!!
D had his 1st injections 2day, bless him! He cried 4 about 2 minutes and has been ok since! He has been asleep mainly after I gave him some paracetamol his check went really well and they say he's a long baby, not got that 4rm me as am only 5'2!!
Katy, hope ur enjoyin ur holiday
Hannah, how r u feelin? I had hayfever last week and it was awful!
How r the rest? Obi, angie, tare...hope ur baboes r well
I remember a previous post 4rm angie saying about grace crying a lot, has she settled? I feel as thou D cries so much! It is usually when he's hungry or tired but he cries loads, with tears!! I did ask the DR today and he said it cld b part of the colic which should calm down in the next 4 weeks as he's 8 weeks old now.
Also...may b a bit personal but if any of u hav..wen did u start ur AF again?? I know its usually delayed with BF mums but mums who r using formula. I only ask as the DR asked me 2day and I haven't yet so I wasn't sure what was the 'norm'.
Hope every1 else is good |

Hi,
Tazzy - No sign of AF, but I'm breastfeeding so don't know when to expect it! Is D sleeping any better?
Hannah - Sorry to hear you've been poorly. Hope you're all better soon!
We're having a lovely time away. Thankfully the weather has been good and not too hot! M is getting back into her sleeping pattern, which is great. It helps that she's back in her sleeping bag I think. Anyway, I'd better get up before I miss half the day!
Hope everyone else is well. Any more news on picnic arrangements?

Hi Katy and Tazzy,
I hope you are both well and enjoying the bank holiday. Over on FB Hannah and I have been doing a fair bit of moaning re sleep - or the lack there of Georgia (the other BF baby - We are only comparing like for like) is polishing her halo and managing 7 or so hours over night so there is hope for us yet I hope you are both getting plenty of sleep so you can enjoy the bank holidays.
Katy, are you away all week?? Is that just habit, you being away in school holidays even though you are not at work?
Love to all xxx |

Hi everyone!
Tare - DH is in teaching too, so we have to stick to school holidays if we want him to come too. I'm making the most of not being at work though and we're having a girly week up here (with my mum and my gran) at the beginning of July - we know how to live life on the edge! There is hope re sleep - Maia is back to 6-8 hours again now. What I was doing initially was feeding her the second she started crying so that she wouldn't wake dh, but then I realised she wasn't actually crying, just making noises in her sleep so I left her a couple of mins knowing she would wake up properly and scream if she was hungry. It does mean that she feeds loads during the day and I can't move for about three hours in the evening as she's on and off non-stop before bed, but it's worth it! I hope Teo starts to go longer soon. I'm making the most of it before the teething starts!
Tazzy - I gave up trying to put a photo on. I figured it's not long until we see you all in person anyway! Glad Daniyal is starting to go a bit longer in the night now.
Hannah - I hope dh feels better soon! It's lovely to have a change of scene. We try to get away during every school holiday (we're lucky enough to have somewhere to stay for free) but this is the first time we've been away since Christmas so it's been really lovely. I hadn't realised how long it had been!
M has come on so much in the last few days. She's always been interested in the world around her (nosy like her mum!) but she's really focussing on things and engaging with other people (can be a nightmare if I'm trying to feed her and she keeps exposing me in public while she has a good smile at a passing stranger!) and she's 'talking' loads. Has anyone else found that having a baby means that random people now come up to offer their advice? I don't mind that so much as when people I don't know start touching her face or holding her hands - I end up thinking 'I don't know where your hands have been!'
I hope everyone is enjoying the bank holiday!
Love Katy x |

Well tare, it looks like it's just going to be me and you with bags under our eyes at the picnic. Alice will not sleep more then 3 hours at night now. But development wise she is doing great, she talks and shouts alot, she does big smiles and her giggles are getting better and better, plus she tries to sit herself up and support her own weight. We took her swimming yesterday which she loved:-D
Sounds like you have a nice week to look forward to in the summer Katy, lets hope the weather is nice for you.
Have a good week everyone H x |
