Hi Alice

Thanks for your message.

I agree, I am trying to be as positive as I can. It's weird, I was saying to my friend today that I daren't even let myself think about it working but you're right, THIS COULD WORK! I would feel like the luckiest woman in the world if it did!

It's really excited but nerve racking at the same time. The biggest hurdle in my mind at this stage is 'I hope the donor produces enough eggs to give me!'

You've definately been through the mill with all this IVF stuff, you must be an expert by now and you certainly deserve a happy ending this time, it's definately your turn! Do you get side effects from the drugs? I am a few days into the oestrogen tablets now and seem fine, the only thing I am still getting is waking up all night absolutely boiling.

I've got my next scan this week - do you think I'll find out more about the timing of the egg collection and embryo transfer at that scan. If the donor continues to progress at the same time as me do you think egg collection will be within a week of the scan this week?

I hope all is well at your down reg scan next week. It's really good to have someone to talk to through this

PG xx

Ah, thanks for your kind words PG. I really really hope that we are BOTH successful - sounds like you've had a tough time too and really deserve this to work.
I always find it really hard to tell whether I'm having side effects or not. I think I get stressy and grumpy but that could just be the emotional side of whats going on, rather than the drugs. I haven't started the oestrogen tablets yet, so we'll see if I can pin-point any side effects when I start those!
Yes I would think you would find out more about timings when you have your scan. It partly depends on when your donor started the stimms drugs and how close in timings she is to you. I always compare it with my cycles that I did with my own eggs. After starting stimms (which would be when you started the progynova tablets) I'd have a scan a week later, then another scan a couple of days after that then egg collection would be about 3 or 4 days later. But the thing is some women will take a longer or shorter time than that to respond so it isn't an exact science. If I were you I would ask your nurse at your scan if she has any better idea when EC is. As you can see from my profile, I started a cycle back in Feb but only got as far as egg collection because we had zero fertilisation (man, that was a big shock!). It was really weird not being involved in that part - DH went off to do his bit and I wasn't needed - it felt peculiar rather than upsetting though. And when we got the phone call to say we had a certain number of eggs is was a wonderful relief.
Anyway, I wish you lots of luck for next week and I'll let you know how I get on at my DR scan.

Hi to all

Can I join this thread? I am awaiting DE - on meds - just waiting to see how things are doing from my donors end. I have immune and clotting issues so tried lots of times with own eggs but didnt find out til after quite a few attempts that I had immune and clotting issues.

I have a lovely little boy already from a kind donor and am hoping to have a sibling for him. I havent told work either as they would definately not be impressed! So will have to give some reason why i am off work - it makes it pretty stressful..!

If all goes well - my embryo transfer whouldbe end of week - maybe beginning of next week?? I tried last year with my frozen embies - but didnt defrost - so had to come off drugs - so sounds familiar..

Would be lovely to chat to anyone out there!

Hi Girlies....

As a couple of new people have joined recently, I thought I would too instead of just reading threads....

I am doing IVF/ICSI with egg sharing. This is my 1st round of IVF. It all seems strange as I already have a young lad to a previous partner, but after trying for a baby with my Husband we realised he has very severe lack of sperm due to injury and I have no fertility issues.!!

After reading all the problems some women have on here, my heart really goes out to you all and I really admire all your strength and courage!! Its wonderful.

I go for a stimm scan this week but after reading some topics I have a few questions I hope someone can answer?! I am only on 150iu on menapur. ive heard this is very low?? I hope its working!! I only have 10 days worth too, what if I need more??Also i'm soooooo unusually tired. Is this normal?

I also keep thinking about the lady who is recieving the eggies!! I really hope she is well and I feel I have a sense of duty towards her and I really hope they work for her and that she has a wonderful baba to look after Smile exciting!! Just hope someone is looking over us 2 and all you others on here to bring us our lil miracles!!

Hi Happychick and Hutchette

Welcome to the thread, let's hope it's a successful one for all of us.

Happychick, can I ask you a question - Did your first cycle with egg donor work first time or did you have to do it more than once?

Hutchette, sorry I've never done IVF with my own eggs, in fact this is my first IVF cycle, so unfortunately I can't answer yoru quetsion about the meds. However, I just wanted to say that what you are doing is amazing and I hope that, not just your recipient but you too are successful.

I have my second scan this week so am hoping to find out more about timescales etc

Good luck to you both

Thanks PG.

Everything is if's, but's, and maybe's but i'm sure we will all be happy in the next few weeks!!! Optimistic is the best key i'm sure but wow its hard at times, especially when i'm such a 'glass half empty' girl alot of the time!! Smile

wishing you both so much luck xx

Hi PG and hutchette - sorry not to get back to you before. Hope you are both doing well Smile

In answer to your question PG - this is my third time with donor eggs. I had a BFP - on the 1st attempt but had a miscarriage at 6.5 weeks. I had been on pessaries and then another drug - but neither worked -so the next time they out me on gestone injections into my butt! ( progesterone) and this managed to keep the baby from making a great escape.

I am having progesterone injections again this time.

Think positive - it took me a long time to get there... 7th attempt - but they finally did it ! I have immune/clotting issues and issues with the progesterone levels - so was a bit of a mix. Was just about to give up - but consultant - said no that he was sure that they could sort it and they did Very Happy

I suppose what I'm trying to say is - that it is amazing that it finally worked out - and even more so as this last time - the doctor told me that they only got 2 eggs fertilised and that they were both very poor quality - boy was I thinking this will not work, as had always had lots of fertilisation and grade 1's wth my own and 1st DE.

I am now an older mum with an emphasis on the older! - trying for about 16yrs plus - alot of that time - with partner not knowing what was going on.

Things have moved on sooooo much since I started fertility - and figures so much better for success - definately think positive! I have everything crossed for you both, legs included!!!

Hi Happy Chick

Thanks for replying and giving me all that info. It is really encouraging.

I think my transfer will be in a week or so. I am just going to be as positive as possible and hope for the best, not much more we can do is there?

Hutchette - if you've had your stimm scan already I hopt it went well, if you haven't had it yet, good luck!

Nim100 - I hope your DR scan went well?

Hey PG,

I have had a scan this week and all is going to plan!!!! Trying not to feel a tad excited but can't help it, especially when you see 2 and 3 magpies at a time!! (sad I know) lol.

Positive Attitude is the way forward apparently!! Smile

Nim100. Hope your scan went well

Hey Hutchette

That's great! Well done you! And yay for the magpies!

I am exactly the same. Mine seems to be progressing as hoped for and for the first time in all this I am getting really excited! Trying to reign it in though as I know there are still several hurdles to go. But I also think that positive attitude is at least part of the battle.

I really do wish you all the luck in the world, sounds like you'll be competing your treatment very soon.

Nim100 - hope you're OK? Hope the scan went well

Hello ladies, so sorry I disappeared on you! Since my little boy broke up from school its been impossible to find a spare moment and then last week we were in a caravan in Cornwall and as I am the only person in the world without an iphone I couldn't get on the BB! But I'm back now... Phew!
My down-reg scan was fine so I'm now (very impatiently) waiting for stage two to start.
So Hutchette, Happychick and PG I think you are all now on the 2ww??? I'm feeling a bit left behind! Hurry up lovely donor!!!
Will be back for a longer catch up soon I promise

PG,

I SO hope that you are wrong! The hideous pessaries are probably responsible. I felt exactly the same after our FET and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the line on the test. I hope it is the same for you.
