Hi,
I had my 1st ICSI last July and had beautiful DS in April this year.
DH was diagnosed with azoospermia as there were no sperm found in 3 different semen samples. We had surgical sperm retrieval and a biopsy had 2 b carried out 2 get some sperm.
Now..he has had an ultrasound and there are no blockages..its not genetic as all the men in his family have had children naturally and its not hormonal as these tests were carried out @ care 2 c if he has any sperm before doing the SSR and chromosomes were also checked and everything normal.
Could the Dr's have got it wrong?? The reason I'm thinking that is (sooo sorry if this is TMI, makes me cringe 2!!)
1. When DH did the samples..he couldn't masturbate so I had 2 assist him.. which I have heard can mess up results
2. The samples had 2 be at the hospital within a certain time period and hospital is about 10 minutes away from our house, then issues with parking and silly stuff could have delayed the samples 2 reach the lab in time..
What I wanted 2 know was has anyone got pregnant naturally when their DH was diagnosed with azoospermia? Should we start saving up 4 another cycle in the future or hang on 2 the hope that it an happen naturally...?
All answers appreciated, need ur brutal honesty guys!!
Thanks |

Ahhh i dont have an answer but just wanted to know your not alone on wanting another.
My little girl is 5wks and i am already thinking about another. My dh thinks it will happen naturally, i'd like to think it will, but im planting the seed (so to speak) of trying a fresh cycle next yr. Dh has low sperm count, last time i responded well and had 13 eggs fertilised but only 1 blast made it so i have no frosties, It really would be only one go as emotionally i fond it hard last time, then i think am i being greedy, i have a beautiful baby girl.
If you really want another start saving then if it happens naturally it would be fantastic.
good luck xx |

Hi
my dh had sperm but not much and what he had was really rubbbish (count normally under 1 million). I am currently pregnnt with our 3rd child. Altogether we have now had 3 natural pregnancies (m/c one of those). Mens sperm can fluctuate on a day by day basis. This natural miracle we were trying for 18m to get and were just about to start ivf again. I would say try naturally but don't put yourself under too much pressure and set a time limit as to when you will move on to ICSI again. I just turned 30 so I knew I didn't want to wait yrs and yrs trying naturally because I also didn't want huge age gaps between the children.
We did what vickilou said tired naturally and saved and we got lucky
good luck

hi hun
my dh has azoospermia, its heartbreaking and like you, we clung to the fact that the result were wrong and hoped the SSR would work however in our case it didn't your little boy is lovely and you should be over the moon
im sorry if this sounds harsh but if the count was zero then there is no sperm there and therefore no chance of a natural pregnancy however....it has been known that with lifestyle changes and vitamin supplements there is a small chance your dh can regain a small sperm count especially if the SSR was able to retrieve sperm
to answer your questions regarding the sample, even if the sample was taken hours after the sperm would still be there but possibly be dead so they could still count it
enjoy your little man and good luck whatever you decide to do
much love
