Hi lady's, is anyone starting September? I'm starting round 2 after early miscarriage in may with my 1st attempt of ivf and donating again could really do with a cycle buddy keeping this try a secret from all!

Hi Needluck !

Sorry to hear how your last treatment ended, it's a tough old game isn't it ?
I'm currently waiting for the results of level 1 immune tests , should be any time in the next week. I'm hoping to start a new fresh cycle in Sept so would start down reg end of sept. I'm ready to start again and I'm counting down the days , sadly looking forward to it again as its like getting one step closer to the dream.

No not donating, we've been saving loads so we can keep them all. We've thought about it for the future if we don't get what we want from this time. I was a poor responder the first time so hoping to get more this time on different drugs.

I'm going to try and get whole 2 ww off this time to have no regrets. I'm also trying hard to loose a few pounds before treatment starts but that is always a battle !

I'm one the same drugs amounts ect again hoping to get a better response I only had 5 eggs last time and had to decide to keep them or donate them all my heart was broken just kept thinking of that poor women with no eggs couldn't do it to her so decided to give them all her but once at ec I had 10 would like a few more this time can't go through that again! Iv started eating avicardo and pinapple they say it helps x

What happened to you on your last cycle must have been hard, that would be my fear. I got 7 eggs , 4 fertilised and 3 survived the wait.
You have to remember what your doing is a really amazing thing for another couple. 10 was a good number so hopefully it will be better or at least no worse this time and you can achieve two goals from this treatment .

Do you mind me asking the reason your having treatment ? Male/ female issue ?

I love pineapple so will be ok with that avocado I don't know that I've ever eaten it apart from in dips, will give anything a go though ! I had more milk and brazil nuts last time as that's supposed to be good to. Are you taking any vitamin supplements ,apart from folic acid ?

I just want the clinic to ring to give me our results of tests. We started on this road because of my partners sperm but since he gave up smoking and caffeine and takes loads of vits his results have significantly improved and supposedly it could happen naturally. However had two fails and no natural surprises hence we are looking at immune issues for me now incase there is something else wrong. It's a tough one when your paying as care advise three fails before tests. It costs so much for treatment and so tough on the emotions we wanted to try and eliminate anything else before we try again.

I have a child naturly with a previous partner he's 14, me and my husband started trying for one of our own 5 years ago nothing happened I just new something was wrong had all the tests with NHS the problem was me both my tubes was blocked after 4 years of tests and investigations I had surgery last July to try and repair my tubes they opened my left and took away my right tube I could still get caught naturly but didn't want to wait another year to find out if it worked glad I didn't or I would only just be starting ivf it's been a long 5 years doesn't seem to be a light at the end of the tunnel just keeps going on and on. X

Hi poobear and need luck... I wondered if I could join your thread. I'm new to forums but not to ivf. We're going to be attempting our 4th ivf cycle ... down regs start on 26th Aug and I guess times start around 5th Sept. After 3 attempts elsewhere we've come to care Notts. Our first 2 cycles (may 2011 & Sept 2011) were bfn's and the 3rd cycle (Feb 2012) was a miscarriage at 6 weeks. We decided to do the level 1 & 2 testing which had highlighted a few issue that we are having treatment for.... our main issues was my thyroid. Although I was in the normal range my thyroid antibodies was high and they wanted my thyroid to be between 1&2. Now that's sorted we can start. Fingers crossed it works for all of us this time xx

Hi ladies , hope your doing ok.

I had a call from care today to say my level 1 results were back and they have found some abnormalities. The nurse said she couldnt give me details and I have to wait a week to get a letter from the consultant ! Had a few tears today as I don't really know what to expect and a week feels like forever. I wish they hadn't said anything and the letter just turned up.

Try not to worry about the tests/results.... easier said than done though hey.

My level 1&2 showed a few things that are out of the 'normal' range. I've had/having treatment for mine and looking forward to starting DR at the end of the month. It's taken a few months for me get to this stage so I know how frustrating the waiting is.

Can I please join you all.

I am new to ivf, doing it with Mk. Am due to d/r mid sept. I am really scared, worried about the injections and confused about everything. We did not have any level 1 and 2 tests. What are they?
Neither of us have any problems apparently. I have been told that I will be starting long protocall (not quite sure what that is either) We are doing icsi as we have been ttc for more than 4 years. I am worried about all the costs, nothing is clear. I feel as though we are on a conveyer belt.

Anyway enough of me going on. Wishing all you ladies lots of luck xx

Hi hope and Faith !
We haven't really got into the tread much yet as I think things won't start happening in people's cycles for a few weeks yet.

Trust me there will be lots of questions that come up along the way but you'll find someone on these boards who has been through everything at one time or another.
I'm not entirely sure why some people do long protocol and others don't, I've done long both times and I'll be doing it again this time. It just means you'll be doing injections for around 4 to 5 weeks , you will get used to them. I am a really squeamish person , faint all time ect and I thought I would never be able to do it but something just kicks in and you do manage it. The first one is the worst because it's unknown but then it will be second nature.

I take it your paying for your cycle ? I have had mine free to date but paying for this treatment and it's not cheap but you should have got a quote from the clinic when you had a consultation as thats what I had, with ICIS your probably looking around Â£4500 - Â£5000 depending on what drugs you need.

As for level 1 and 2 tests these are extra tests you don't get offered on the NHS as part of the investigations as most people don't need them. Care recommend them after 3 miscarriages / failed cycles so you really don't need to worry about them as this stage. They check things like thyroid, blood clotting , chromosome issues that might be preventing a pregnancy. I got my results last week and I was shocked to discover I have three minor blood clotting issues that is likely to be the reason why I'm not getting pregnant. So this treatment will be a new test with new drugs to see if we can make this work. I'm apprehensive just like all the people on these board as every cycle makes you want it even more !

So will you be having your Egg collection and transfer in Northampton then if your in MK ?

I hope your cycle works for you this time.

Yes I will be having ec and et at Northampton but everything else will be at Mk. I am waiting for af to start so I can start my injections on day 21. Hopefully we will have injection training later in this week and consultation. I have just had husbands as back and all seems fine which makes this more frustrating as we both seem ok.

Hi Hope and Faith! Woo hoo for AF. I'm waiting for mine should be by the end of the week so I won't be far behind you. Good luck with the injection training you'll be fine , it seems like a lot to take in but you can follow the paper work when the days come or call Care so don't worry if you think you have forgotten anything .

You never know we may end up in the theatre the same days !

Nice to hear from you , welcome to the boards . You'll find anything you want to know on hear as someone has no doubt been through something similar. I had my pre treatment scan today at Northampton so just waiting for my protocol to come through (I'm on new drugs this time) and then I'm starting on the 25th so we will be very close together.

Try not to worry about things too much you'll be guided it through everything by the clinic or the ladies on here. I'm by no means an expert, sadly through experience been on here about a year but if you want to know anything ask away.

It's an emotional journey but you have to think of it as getting one step closer to the end goal of becoming a mummy. It certainly toughens you up I can tell you.

I'll be down regging ( where it stops your normal cycle) on Buserelin , then stimming ( where you grow your eggs to be big enough to be collected ) on Menopur. I'll also be taking clexane and metaformin I think as I have blood clotting issues that have just been discovered. So this cycle of treatment will be like a new cycle for me as hopefully they now know what the issues are .I'm thinking this time is going to be THE time for me and I hope you'll have first time success it's defiantly possible it does happen.

You'll have your injection training before you start your drugs, don't panic it's not that bad the nurse gets you to try a few times in a plastic skin like pad , I remember thinking I'll never do this , I made loads of notes in case I forgot or got mixed up but I didn't need them as the nurses go over everything lots of times. Sadly it becomes second nature after the first few nights.
