YAY - thats great - we are both at Notts too and seeing George :0) I will be dr for 3 weeks though as have a week that I am away with work so wont be around for scans etc so need to delay stimming by a week which is a bit rubbish but better then waiting another month.

I will let you know when I receive my protocol as think it will be very similar to yours.

Have you had the flu jab?

Hi Amber, thank god you haven't had your protocol yet either I was beginning to worry. I received my consent form for intralipids yesterday and sent it straight back so they should get it tomorrow. It says you don't get your protocol till they receive it so hopefully it should be sent out soon.

Yes I had my flu jab on 7th Jan so hoping that will be ok, have you had yours? I'm hoping I can down reg in 2weeks as I have some time off work as we are thinking of staying in the peak district around stimming as we are not local (Chester) so that would be easier. I'm just hoping it will fit in around the holidays I have. Are you local?

Hi Seabreeze and Amber

I would love to join you ladies as cycle buddies. I am due to start a priming cycle later this week and then a short protocol in March.

This is my 5th IVF but my first full immune cycle. Even though I've been through IVF before the extra immune drugs scare me silly, so could really use any support I can get!

I'm at Care Manchester and am hoping and praying that this is finally our time. This will be our very last attempt as emotions and funds can't take much more!

Hi Cath, its great to have another cycle buddy on board! I am like you and feel very confused by the whole immune business, I have a basic idea of what's going on but don't undertand it anywhere near as much a lot of the ladies on here. I think I'm just going to have to trust my consultant and do whatever she says.

I really hope this is is your last time and that we all get the happy ending we deserve! It's been a long hard road and so surely this has to be our time Smile

I have previously done short protocols so know how they work but what is a primimg cycle?

Hi Seabreeze,

I'm with you on not entirely understanding all the immune stuff (it's quite mindboggling!) The priming cycle is the cycle before the actual treatment cycle.

On day 5 of my next AF I will take cyclo-progynova (normally used as a HRT drug) for 21 days and then should have a bleed within 7 days. On the first day of that bleed I will start the short protocol cycle.

From my understanding the cyclo-progynova should lower my fsh level and help produce more mature eggs on the actual treatment cycle. I normally respond well to the stimulation drugs but never have any spare embryos to freeze, possibly due to the lack of mature eggs.

Am also about to start metformin tablets tomorrow as I have tested positive as a carrier of PAI 1 gene polymorphism which can cause implantation failure and miscarriage. Don't really understand how the metformin works to counter-act this but like you say you just have to trust what your consultant recommends. Not looking forward to taking them as have been told they can cause nausea, vomiting and loose bowel motions! Nice!

Anyway, thanks for the welcome. I hope we can all help each other through our journeys to becoming a mummy. Would love to know what your history and immune problems are, if you don't mind me asking?

Hi Cath, no i certainly dont mind you asking.

We were diagnosed with unexplained infertility about 7 years ago. We have had 3 IUIs, 1 IVF and 2 ICSI all BFN except our last cycle when we got our 1st ever BFP but then misscarried a week later. We decided to go for immune tests as knew there must be something wrong.

The tests shows i have raised NK cells and a thrombophillia clotting problem and i was told i would have never have stoood a chance of getting pregnant or staying pregnant without the immune drugs. So this is our 1st immune cycle and im really hoping it will do the trick. Im trying not to get my hopes up too high as im know all to well whats its like when that BFN hits you smack in the face at the end of it all.

I need to have Asprin, Steroids, Clexane and intralipids on this cycle and i also have to have a high dose of stimming drugs as i dont respond well to those either. So i think i have my work cut out but hopefully it will be worth it!

Hi Seabreeze,

You sound as though you having same sort of drugs as me. I also have high NK cells and tested positive for MTHFR so am taking high dose folic acid, vit B6 and vit B12 as well to treat that. I'm normally someone who doesn't like taking medication, so will be turning into a right junkie!

We have been ttc for 9 years. After many investigations we had the devastating news that my DH was not producing any sperm. We have never found out the reason - he's not had any illnesses in the past that could have caused it, apparently it's just one of those things that can sometimes happen. Took us a while to get our heads round it but we finally decided to use a donor - at the end of the day we want a family - it will just happen in a different way!

After 9 IUI's, 2 IVF - BFN, 1 IVF - BFP that turned into a miscarriage, 1 IVF - ectopic and 1 IVF - biochem we finally turned Care and had the immune tests done. So wish that we'd had them done a lot earlier as would have saved a lot of heartache and money, but am just glad that they have found a reason for all those failures and am looking at this next cycle in a much more positive frame of mind. I know it still may fail but feel then that I will have given it my all before we move on to adoption.

Anyway, that's enough about me! Will you be doing the short protocol this time?

Hi Amber,

It's so nice to chat to people with similar issues - sometimes you do feel as though you're all alone and agree that we could all use some support over the coming weeks.
Crikey, you've been through a lot of treatment over the last year!
What is Factor V Leiden? I can't keep up with all these different immune issues!

Hi Ladies

Not been on here for a good while, This will be our 6th try but out first try with full immune treatment. I will be starting from day 5 in feb on HRT then stimming in my march cycle, We had all our level 1's and 2's done again and a few issues have come up with me being a carrier of 3 faulty genes. I've been on metformin, Folic acid, iron, thyroxin, vitb6 and vitb12 for 3 weeks now. MY nk cells are ok but still have to have intralipids and everything else!!! Just can't wait to get going again. We are with MR P at manchester is anyone else with him???

Hope this time is the one for us ladies fingers and everything else crossed for us all

Hi Cath,

Factor V is a blood clotting issue, my Mum has it so there was a 50% chance I would have it as well. The clexane should sort it out - I was on clexane previously but not a high enough dose so will have 40mg of Clexane and 2 intralipids before EC (last time only had 1) Hoping this protocol is the one to sort it out so i can keep a pregnancy. I have to keep going with the treatment, its hammering the bank account but I am determined to get there and I am not giving up till we do.

Deni - you have had a lot to deal with over the yeas and I admire you so much. I hope this is your time, i have everything crossed for us all too :0)

Welcome Deni,

We are with Mr P at Manchester too and your protocol and timing sounds very similar to mine. Are you doing a short protocol?
Just wondering how you've found the Metformin? Have heard it can cause nausea, vomiting and stomach probs. I took my first dose tonight and feel ok so far, but it's early days and have got to build the dose up yet.

You sound like one very strong lady! Good luck to us all - let's hope this is a lucky thread for us!

Hi Cath

Blimey, you have had so much treatment over the years you deserve a medal. I really hope the immune cycle does the trick, you most certainly deserve it! Im doing the long protocol this time, never done it before so consultant thinks it might just help trick my body by doing something different? Who knows but anything is worth a go!

Cant wait to start now!

Hi Amber

No sign of protocol yet, i have e-mailed the secretary this morning to politely ask how long it takes. I received my consent form for intralipids on Sat and sent it straight back as it says they cant send you your protocol until they receive it. Hopefully it shouldnt be too long now Smile

Any sign of yours?

No sign of it yet, i e mailed her as well yesterday to ask about DHEA and what they thought as its meant to be good but also a bit up in the air. not heard back yet, i havent had my consent forms for the intralipids yet either but I was only there on Thursday so perhaps I will have it by the end of the week.

As its now Feb, we can say " We are starting next month" YAY.

Hope you are all having a super day xxx

Hopefully i wont be to far behind you though. I cant believe how many of us are cycling together and it our first immune cycles too Smile

Keep in touch, let us know how your going.

Hi Amber,

Ive had a reply from CARE to say my protocol is in the post today 1st class so i should get it tomorrow YAY! Smile

I cant wait to see exactly what i will be doing. Im having a really knackering week this week as im on a training course 9-5 mon Thursday but also then working 5.15-10.45pm on Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat, sun. So im not going to be in tomorrow when the post arrives, i will be on my boring mandatory training course, day dreeming out of the window about what my protocol says (not that this is taking over my life or anything!)

Hope your having a more exciting day than me Smile

Hi Cath,

I am on a short protocal but have to start hrt on day 5 of my feb cycle then start stimming on my march cycle, I am finding metformin a bit hard im feeling very sick most of the days and i have gone off food completly so ive been living of toast and light soup.

I am getting as excited as i was on my first ivf attempt, When you have try after try it gets like a chore and the excitment goes. So this time im getting myself all excited if you feel good on the inside it just might make a differance!!!
Ive started going to church everytime im in town and its open to light candles and to pray for a BFP and all to be well lets see if he helps out!!

Hi the all other ladies

Hello everyone

Thought I would join in as should be cycling in March as well.

This will be my 3rd IVF - 2nd at CARE Notts and with immunes. Ist immunes was in Nov and didn't work but mainly due to egg quality. Transferred 1 grade 2/3 blast.

Also had 6 lots of clomid and 3 IUIs on NHS - last IUI mc at 6 wks. This time last year! Quite upsetting when I think about it. But looking forward to a successful cycle!

Got high NKS. PA1P gene, Thyroid ABs, also on metformin. Will be on SP as prone to overstimulation. DQ alpha. Just had LIT and about to have a hysteroscopy.

Glad tos ee lots of other immunies on here.

Deni - i really sttruggled with metformin as well. Took me about 2 wks to get used to. MAde me really tired as well.

As you said good to look forward to doing something different on the immunes.

I have lots of PMA for this cycle.

Hi Ladies

I hope to be another March one. I've got a call with MR P at Manchester to go through results and I got the impression when I went for scan a few weeks back that I would be able to start straight away depending on where I am in cycle.

We've been trying for 5 years now, I've had 8 IUI, 1 mc and 3 failed ICSI.

I'm from Guernsey so its very stressful with all the extra travel involved and my local consultant doesn't believe in immune issues.....

Those at Manchester, Mr P said I would be on SP, do you know how that works there?? I still had to down reg at Bourn on SP which seemed rather pointless.

Amber - I found you!!

Good luck everyone.
