Hi everyone,
I'm doing Weight Watchers in an effort to lose the weight gained after 2 failed IVF attempts in 2009 and just wondered if anyone else on here is in the same boat.
Been on a waiting list for DE for nearly a year now, and the closer it gets the harder I'm finding it to stay on track so wondered if anyone has any great tips or ways to stay focussed.
Best of luck whatever part of this journey you're on, maybe we can support each other |

Hi Lottie
I'm always trying to lose weight. I managed to lose 4 stone before my first cycle however Xmas loomed and I managed to put on 2 st before my treatment started. I've now put another half stone on during treatment. I could go and blame myself for the failure for being over weight but what good would it do now.
All I can do is get myself into the best shape and health that I can for my next cycle which will be April/May. Hope to lose half a stone at a time, no point looking too far ahead otherwise it ends up being too big a goal.
Let me know how W/W goes as I have a feeling I need support behind my weight loss, more money I know but if it helps...............
I have a gym membership (as most people do) and havn't been for a year (as most of us do) so best to pull my socks up, my joggies on and get my swimming cossie out and do an hour of each every night.
Good luck and remember to let me know if you join a club and how successful you are.

Hey Jo,
Just a quicky before heading off to bed. I go to Weight Watchers and have found the support really great, couldn't have done this well without it (have lost about 23lbs (lost more but gained a bit a few weeks ago) since May ... not far to go to reach 2 stone lost,) plus have made at least one good friend, learnt loads of quick, easy, tasty and healthy meals. If money's tight you can do it online - check out the website and don't forget to print off your vouchers to get money off registering etc if you decide to go for it. It's £20 a month for meetings with online support and chat rooms, and I think online is about £12.
Getting to the gym/swim is really worth it - to get yourself back in the door does yours have a steam room or sauna? Why not treat yourself to a relaxing 20 mins? And don't beat yourself up about the weight ... I started that after I joined WW and decided that all the what if's in the world wouldn't make the pain go away - as was more likely to make me eat, so I walk every lunchtime for 30 mins to clear my head. I'm lucky to work out on an old RAF base surrounded by fields, but every little bit helps Think of the gym as 'you time' put your fav tunes on an ipod etc and groove to your own work out, get them to do you an exercise plan, start gentle to ease yourself into it and you'll be fine. Best of luck Hun, Lx |

Hi ladies,
So nice to read on here people who are in the same boat as me..........I lost 5 1/2 stone for my first IVF attempt Dec 2009 BFN. We have now been on DE waiting list for coming up to a year and apparently very near the top, however we can't go ahead as I have put some of the weight back on. I need to loose about a stone and I just feel so fed up with myself, knowing that if I hadn't let things slip we would be able to start straight away!!! Our IVF journey spans 7 years and I feel like I am running out of steam........been in tears today (doesn't happen often but things just got too much today). Just feelling the pressure I suppose. Your posts were a couple of weeks ago so I hope you are both doing well. xxx |

Hey Just Waiting ... we're we on the same 2ww in Dec 09? Don't want to say too much as I'm sure DE rules apply to us both but there were some Emmas and an Elaine on our chat.
Don't beat yourself up too much about not being able to start treatment straight away - when I posted this I found I was eating too much due to emotions about starting again and reckoned I wasn't the only one who could do with some support. As everyone keeps telling me - everything happens for a reason and I'm sure you'll have the weight off in no time.
I'll warn you though - the first time I went back in the clinic in over a year had me in tears after and reaching for the chocolate cake! Luckily my Weight Watchers Leader knows my situation so when I gained at the next weigh in I was able to tell her I'd fallen apart after trip to clinic. I've had to miss today's meeting due to swapping days at work as off to the clinic again for DH's tests, before long you'll be doing those injections
What will you try to move the weight and how long do you have to keep it off for before they'll treat you? What I mean is could you do something like slim-fast, Cambridge diet or biggest Loser - those shake diets with an evening meal and exercise so it comes off quick? I know when I did slim-fast I felt like I lost lots quickly but I think that was mostly water so gained it back pretty quick when I stopped.
Best of luck Hun, don't give up |

Hi, Just a quick thought, I am going to try the Rosemary Conley solo plan diet. You can order it as a 7 day plan or a 28 day plan where you get your meals sent to your home all boxed up and portioned. I have ready that the average weight loss is 15lb so if that is the case I will back to where I was when I first lost weight for ivf in a couple of months.
Oh and going to get back to the gym/swim.....I promise x
Good luck

Hey Jo,
Glad to hear you sounding so positive - hope all goes well for you. It sounds like we may be cycle buddies as AF is due in the next few days and I have 21 days of burselin injections. I'll keep doing WW until the embies are out back to keep me on track.
Take care,
Cx |

Nice to know it isn't just me I have lost eight stones so far with Weight Watchers to get me to the level I could have IVF. Another three stone to get to what people concider a healthy weight, not sure I want to be that slim though.
I have just gone through my first cycle (BFN yesterday ) and managed to put a stone back on. Stocking the freezer up as we speak with Pro Pointed home cooked meals. Want to lose the gained stone and as much extra as I can before my next cycle. |

| I'm trying too....I gained 8.5lbs during treatment, so have joined Slimming World to try and get it off, and a bit more if poss! I'm trying to do everything I can to be in the best of health before my next go - so far I'm finding giving up caffeine by far the hardest. I cut down in my 2ww but didn't stop completely xx |

I have cut that out and not struggled too much. Smoking was hard (not as hard as 8stone though!) but all I want to do today is go and buy some, I think the BFN has hit me today |

Hi Ladies,
It's good to see this old post is still being useful
Lisa - 8 stone - that's amazing, well done you I was still overweight as far as BMI was concerned but was happy with how I looked when this treatment started. Am so sorry to ear you got a BFN, I'm sure your Leader will be very suportive and get you back on track when you've grieved a bit.
Raachel - I find PG tips decaf tea bags taste the nicest, although you are allowed upto 300mg caffeine when pregnant anyway (not that I've had any since ET). I cut down to about 2 caffeine drinks a day a few years ago when started treatment, so it's easier to knock it on the head after ET's. We have lots of fruit teas to which I always add a little sugar or sweetner to bring out the flavour.
Right, off to the swimming pool
