Hi ladies,

Just thought i would promote myself from the awaiting scans board Smile
I am currently 7+3 days pregnant and have now officially been discharged from care, I will be seeing my midwife in 9 days and can't wait.
I have recently started with really bad morning or in my case all day sickness. I have been trying ginger nut biscuits but they don't seem to work so any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Anyway look forward to anyone joining me on the wonderful world of pregnancy.

The only thing that worked for me was the accupressure wrist bands. I wore them 24/7 apart from in the bath/shower!!
I also bought some of the preggie pops and sweets which helped a bit too.
Hope it doesn't get too bad and wishing you a healthy pregnancy x

Welcome to the BB&B board, it's great to get here isn't it??

My few tips for MS would be non-greasy food, mini cheddars and baked walkers, dried prunes & apricots for sweet burst at work, lots of water, ginger ale, lemonade, carbonated water. I found if I had bagels for breakfast it helped (had quite a lot of BLT bagels) also took l/f houmous with carrot and pepper batons to work to snack on. Found if I ate evening meals of meat/fish, 2-3veg and potatoes I felt better too. I also bought instant mash pots from Morrisons and had with Eat Smart Tuna with dressing (but keeping an eye on tuna amounts) or boiled eggs as plain but filling instant lunch at work. Towards the end of 12 weeks I changed back to porridge for breakfast and had that with jam - yummy

I found that if I ate a snack every hour or so and didn't let myself get really hungry so it was better. I tried to eat lots of fruit & veg, and keep my dairy up by having mini babybel light, or l/f cheese portions on l/f melba toasts mid afternoon or low fat bio yogurts and a cereal bar.

For me it was a case of eating a healthy balanced diet and I felt ok, if I didn't I felt worse. Trial and error but mostly not letting yourself get hungry seemed to work. Oh, and eat what your body asks for (within the guidelines of course!)

Best of luck Hun,
Lx

Hi angie
Saw this thread had started the other day so here I am, I've got my next care scan next Friday and just got my appointment thru to see mid wife on 26th so feel like its really happening now!
As for the sickness I've just started this last day or two, and I too swear by the travel sickness wristbands, I couldn't get out if bed last time without them. I too am eating regularly snacking on fruit and veg, especially raw carrot. Hope you are all ok apart from sickness roll on 2nd trimester!

Hi ladies,
Thank your for the morning sickness advise, its proved very helpful although boots hadn't any wrist bands in stock, oh well I'll keep trying.

Ridler glad you've joined me hun thought I'd be on my own lol!. Bet you can't wait for your second scan I never got offered one so 6 to 12 weeks is a long worrying wait particularly after the bad start I've had. My midwife appt will be on Monday 15th so hopefully I'll get my next scan. I must admit it does feel more real now, its a lovely feeling Smile
Although I'm trying to enjoy the moment and get excited this sickness is taking over its awful a lot worse than I've ever had it before. It's taking over my life and I can't seem to function. Oh well I have to see it as a good lucky sign there are plenty of women who would love to be in my shoes so can't grumble.
Anyway hun be sure to let me know how your scan goes, you'll see a massive difference.

Hi girls...found you over here from the "awaiting scans" thread...so i'm between them both really.
You all sound like you are suffering with the dreadded sickness....i dont seem to be part of that, so count myself lucky....although a do get a "hungry" sicky feeling if i dont get food when my tummy says i need to, so dont think its "proper" sickness, or am i just kidding myself??
Had my booking appointment Friday....12 week scan on 26th Aug...so counting the days down...may think about whether to find somewhere to do a private scan around 16 weeks...as some of the girls from the other thread will be having them done or have had them done in the past, but not sure whether its worth it or whether to do it for just for piece of mind!!

Hey weena,
Welcome a board thought a march/ April babies thread seemed to ne the next step as most of us have had that 6 week scan. I replied to you on the awaiting scans post about the impersonal experience you had at your booking appt. I hope mines not like that tomorrow I hate being made to feel like a number rather than a person.
Glad you hear your not suffering too bad with sickness, I can definitely relate to that sickly weard feeling when hungry its awful. Luckily I've not been too bad other the past few days.
I think I will be having a private scan between 12 and 20 weeks as it seems like a long wait and worry. Anyway nice to have you over here let's hope more join.

Hi ladies

I'm 8 weeks today and what a journey I never thought I would get this far just fingers crossed that peanut stays strong for us. My edd is 28/3/12 I've had 2 scans and peanut seemed strong on both of them. I have my first midwife appointment this week so hopefully will get a date for my 12 week scan.

Hope you are all well on your journey.

Take care
pp xx

Hi ladies

Had my midwife appointment it went very well. She tested my urine there and then, took my blood pressure and took blood as well. Plus she is booking my 12 week scan. I felt very comfortable with her so i guess i had a better experience. How did you get on Angie.

Evening ladies,

PP- glad to hear everything is going well your only 6 days behind me, it's all so exciting but frightening at the same time but so far so good for us both so let's hope we have a nice smooth pregnancy.

Obi- glad your midwife appt went well and you had a good experience, it always helps. I have not long been back the lady I saw was very lovely and made me feel very welcome and informed. I had my weight, height, blood pressure and history done but no urine or bloods she said that would all be checked at my 12 week scan which I should get an appt through the post in the next couple of weeks. I'm guessing it'll be around early sept that's when I'll be 12 weeks, I'm wondering if you had all these checks as your a bit further on than me, I'm not too sure to be honest. Well that's it for us now until the 12 week scan, I couldn't come soon enough for me all I do is worry.

Hi everyone, hope your all well.
obi and angie i'm glad your midwife appointments went well. i'm back on thursday for my test results, hope i also get my scan date too Smile

well ive had the worst week ever! morning sickness from around 8am-6pm everyday, and then feeling sick after that but not throwing up, had horrible cramps is the night which have woke me up for last 2 days, my sister got some bad news from the doctor so now looks like she might not even make it till xmas and my partner may be losing his job ( find out on thursday) so with the pregnancy and pessary hormones i threw a bit of a wobbly a work today then ran off crying. oh dear i hope things look up soon, anymore bad news and i dont think we will come Sad

sorry to just come on here and moan. i dont mind the morning sickness really as long as everything is ok cos if this pregnancy doesnt work out i think my partner will top himself after all the other crap we have going on Sad he's so depressed and it breaks my heart, i wish there was something i could do to fix things.

anyways sorry again, just got in from work so better start tea, H xx

Oh Hannah bless your heart, you and DH are really going through it at the moment. It can't be easy going through all the emotions of your sisters illness and your DH struggling with his demons and then on top of that trying to cope with horrible morning sickness.
I know it seems overwhelming at the moment but I promise you that when you hold your baby the pain will somehow seem a little easier to bear. Don't apologise for moaning its what we're here for, to share the load. We are all here if you need to talk.
As for morning sickness I totally sympathise its bloody awful I too have it bad and feels as though its taking over my life, roll on 2nd trimester. Anyway hun good luck with your results and keep that chin up high.
Much love and hugs Angie Xx

Thanks Angie,
i'm sure all will be better in a few weeks when DH has a new job and things settle down a bit. he is a little better now that he has started applying for jobs so hopefully he will get a better one and it will be a good thing.

anyway on the plus side im so glad to have made it to this board after my first round of ivf and congratulations for all that have, hope we all have easy pregnancies from now onwards Smile and we have lots of healthy little boys n girls in march/april 2012 xx

Hey Hannah,
No worries that's what were here for. Like you say I'm sure Dh will find something soon. Lifes full of ups and downs but we all somehow seem to get through it, well until the next time life decides to throw more shite our way.
I also feel really lucky to be here after the first time, I honestly never thought it would happen especially with a little day 2 embie Smile can't wait to see how everyone gets on in their pregnancys and to find out in a couple of months what we're all having.

yeah thats gonna be an exciting time, finding out what were having and what were going to call them. we like alice for a girl but not got a boys name yet. i like dylan but DH doesnt.

took DH to doctors this morning and they prescribed his some antidepressants so hopefully they will help Smile and i helped him apply for some jobs last night and this morning so i think he's more posative now

no morning sickness yet today seams to go like that for me 3 days constantly sick 1 day off and repeat so im learning to enjoy my day off rather then worrying. also next monday i get to reduce my pessaries to 1 a day woop woop lol be glad on the 5th sept when they're all finished Smile

hope everyone has a good day! half way through the week now x x

Hi everyone,

Well I am not quite ready to join you yet (7w today but Care scan not until next tuesday) but I have been keeping an eye on how you are getting on and felt the need to say a few words today.

Hannah, so sorry life is throwing shitty stick after shitty stick at you - sometimes you have to wonder what would happen if you weren't so good at catching the clean end and keeping them all up in the air Laughing The pregnancy is one big positive in your life - share the small things when you are feeling low, it certainly puts a smile back on my face and I don't have nearly as many shitty sticks in the air! I second what Angie said re moaning too - we would all be doing the same in your shoes and if you are moaning to us you can be more positive when your DH is around Smile

Everyone else, congrats for getting this far - hopefully I will join you this time next week with good news from our scan and maybe even a date for my midwife appt....... watch this space Smile

Hugs to all

Hannah, I feel for you...there's so much you are going through at the moment but i am sure you will pull through it. Just keep thinking of beanie, be strong for your family and little babe inside you xx From your last post I take it you are finding out what you are having?? The naming is going to be a nightmare...what one person likes, the other doesn't...how do you decide?
I think we have decided we arent going to find out what we are having, we are just going to keep guessing and let it be a suprise. For some reason I have a boy in mind (not sure why!!) but my hubby says when he thinks of us with a baby, its a girl!! You would think it would be the other way round.
Who is finishing their pessaries soon. I am 11 weeks today, does anyone know if i start reducing the pessaries week commencing week 12, or at the end of week 12 into week 13?

Hannah
I echoe what everyone has already said, life really is chucking crap at you at the moment and its not bloody fair. You come on here hun and let of steam any time you want us ladies have a special bond that many will never understand. This forum is my life line , when i tell my concerns at work over this pregnancy they tell me im paranoid. Well yes i am they havnt waited 18 years for this moment. Despite all the crap around you Hannah this is your moment, keep your chin up and moan on here whenever you want.
Weena the clinic should have given you a reducing programme. Im 10 wks 4 days now and start reducing next week. Mind you Im on 4 pessaries a day and onlyr educe to 2 and then the last day is 26th August then stop. My antenatal scan is at 14 weeks not 12, now I did have a moan about that.

Hope everyone ok

Obi - aaah yeah, just checked my paperwork, I start reducing on 24th, that lasts for only 5 days, so on the count down....yipee, horrid things!! I chased the midwife today (not the one I saw last Friday) ref the urine sample that didnt get taken on my booking appointment..she was a bit blasay (i cant think how to spell that word!!) and told me just to book in with a nurse and give them a sample. It wasnt the same midwife as i saw last week and this one asked how I was, any problems, etc, so more happy with her!! I think we have just been spoilt by CARE

Afm - sorry not been on for a while, I've been a bit of a misery with these hives I've had but glad to say they are nearly gone and itching is minimal! 8 week scan tomorrow I'm both excited and nervous, can't wait to see how much he's grown, but at the same time I wonder if these hives have turned up cos something might be wrong. Yeah I
Know I sound paranoid but after a year of hell it's hard not to worry

Hi everyone,

Still waiting for my scan, but just wanted to pop in to say

Hannah - I hope everything's ok with you and your DH. It's such a worrying time anyway, without everything else you're having to contend with. You know we're all here for you. Did everything go ok with the midwife earlier? Take care of yourself hon. Lots of love x

Ridler - So glad your hives have improved and that you're feeling a bit better. I hope everything goes well with your scan tomorrow.

To everyone else, I hope you're ok and staying relaxed and positive. I've been trying, but just getting so excited about my scan now! Hopefully I'll be back on Tuesday with good news!

Big hugs,
Katy x
