Woo hoo, 12 week scan eventually done after an hour of trying to get baby to actually lie still and not wriggle about, which also included 3 trips to the toilet, a walk about for 15 minutes and advice to eat a choccie bar!! We eventually got a measurement done at the back of the neck which was about 1.4mm which the sonographer said was fine, although she wanted to get a more exact one but couldnt manage it because of the positioning. Baby measures just over 6cm and ive been told i am 12 +5 but told her i couldnt be because of the extraction date which makes me 12 +3.
The picture wasnt great, again because of the movement (i think), I saw a girl in reception with her one which was reallt clear..but i cant complain as it was moving and had a good heart beat...more relaxed now!! |

Great news weena glad everything looked good, another milestone reached! You must feel happy to have seen an active healthy baby even tho the picture wasn't great.
I had my midwife app yesterday, she was absolutly lovely! Talked through loads of stuff, did urine test which was getting sent away, and attempted bloods! I have very difficult veins so she gave up, not the first time lol! So I'll get these done at hospital at 12 week scan. I've booked it for 15th sept so not to long off!
Great news Hannah on dh's job let's hope things are on an up for you now!
Take care ladies and babies

Hey ladies,
Well it seems like ages since I popped in - it probably wasn't very long but time is going sooooo slowly!
Brilliant news Hannah - so pleased for you and your DH, hopefully you can start to relax and enjoy your pregnancy from here.
Weena, so glad your scan went well - 12 weeks still seems a lifetime away for me but I guess I will get there eventually.
Katy, seeing your midwife at 11 weeks shouldn't be a problem unless the scan department are jam packed and they then can't fit you in for your scan. The timing of the scan is more important if you are wanting the nuchal (if your hospital offer it), if it is not offered or you were planning on declining then it is not so important when the scan is done as dating the pregnancy is also irrelevant for us as we know exactly when we concieved! If they do offer the nuchal and you were planning on having it, it may well be worth calling the midwife back and confirming that if she doesn't book it until you are 11 weeks you will still be able to get the scan within the necesary window.
AFM, I am now off sick - I am vomiting most of everyday and only just keeping myself hydrated
I have a GP appointment tomorrow and my midwife booking the day after and I am really worried they will test my urine and find me not coping as well as I thought I was and want to admit me. Can't complain mind, the more I vomit the happier the baby is
I hope those of you that are feeling rough as hell are being looked after as well as me, and those of you concerned about a lack of symptoms are making the most of it and staying positive.
Hugs to all.

Hi ladies
Weena so good to hear your news. Relief to know someone with no symptons like me has had a positive scan. congrats hun.
Tare sorry you are so ill with the sickness, i hope the gp can help you.
AFM just back from a bank holiday with the parents . It was great not seen them since April so I was pampered to extreme. Didnt lift a finger. Think they would of wrapped me in cotton wool if they could. It will be their first grandchild and im in my 40's so you can imagine how excited they are. Dont think they ever thought they would be grandparents.
Oh well back to work tomorrow, keep well everyone

Morning ladies,
Weena- so pleased your 12 week scan went well, I bet your so relieved.
Hannah- very glad to hear that DH has still got his job let's hope that takes a bit of the pressure off. Hope the sickness is still at bay.
Ridler- hope your well hun, the 15th will be here before you know it. I'm glad your midwife appt went well and she was nice, it really does make a difference.
PP- hi hun glad to hear all is well and your still not feeling too sick. Your 12 week scan on the 13th will arrive before
you have time to blink.
Tare- sorry your feeling so sick hun, its awful. Hope the doctors are looking after you, fingers crossed it'll pass at 12 weeks. Get well soon.
Obi- hi hun glad all us well and you enjoyed your bank holiday break and got nice and spoilt, bless your parents I imagine they are bursting with excitement inside.
AFM- well I think my sickness is finally subsiding, although everytime I say that it seems to return.
Sorry in advance for tmi but I'm really suffering with constipation so I am filling myself with fibre and hoping for some relief :-/ its my long awaited 12 week scan on Monday and I'm so nervous and convinced it won't be there or something bad will of happened. Hope your all ok.

Hi ladies,
weena - congrats on your scan, sounds like you had fun with your little bean, maybe he/she will be more complient at the next one lol glad all went well
pp - im glad that you dont have this morning sickness, good luck for your scan
tare - i have oodles of sympathy for you, i went home sick one day with morning sickness and could quite happily had a couple of weeks off with it but work make a fuss about being off. i hope it all calms down for you soon and that you dont have to be admitted
obi1 - sounds like you had a lovely bank holiday, i saw my inlaws but i just found the pampering annoying (must be my hormones ) they were trying to feed me all the time even though i kept being sick was driving me mad! lol
angie - glad your sickness has gone, enjoy some all bran for brekkie maybe that will help or i think fybergel is allowed
afm - things at home are much nicer now DH's job is sorted. my sickness is back with avengence and either my hormones have gone mad or im surrounded by idiots. id like to believe its the latter but prob not. i am so cross with people at the moment, hope this passes quickly. on a plus note scan date came though for 9th sept so 1 week n 2 days then i can see my little peanut again
hope you all have a great day H xx |

Hi ladies!
Tare - thanks for the reassurance regarding the midwife. I'm sorry to hear you're so sick at the moment and I really hope you feel better soon.
Angie - I'm sure everything will be fine at your scan, the nurse who discharged me from Care told me that if you've seen the heartbeat at 8weeks (6 post EC) then usually everything is fine after that. I know nothing's ever certain, but think positively and try not to worry.
Obi - enjoy the pampering while you can - it'll all change when the baby arrives!
PP and Ridler - hope your scans goes well. Not too long to wait!
Hannah - fantastic news about your dh's job. You guys deserve for some good things to come your way.
AFM - Had a lovely weekend, was spoilt rotten by my hubby and my family for my birthday. Bit gutted that I couldn't even have a taste of champagne thanks to the drugs, even more gutted when hubby started eating hunks of blue cheese right in front of me - it's the one thing I'm really missing! I've booked a private scan for the same day as my midwife appointment as I can't wait to see bump again and at least hubby will be there. The midwife sent me the booklet on baby screening. I'm not sure about whether I want the nuchal translucency done or not. What are your opinions on it? Is everyone else having it? In terms of sickness, I'm still really nauseous but not being sick. I'm getting shooting pains in my backside and down the back of my thighs and I'm still getting cramping, which I hope is just my uterus stretching. By the way Angie, Fybogel is fine to use but it tastes foul. Drink it really quickly after mixing it with water because it's disgusting once it starts to thicken!
Big hugs,
Katy x |

Hi ladies,
Hope your all doing well and looking after yourselfs.
Katy- thanks for the reassurance and advice about fybogel, that stuff is vile but I'll give it a whirl.
Glad to hear you enjoyed your birthday and got spoilt. My DH is always having a nice cold beer when we go out for a meal or eating something he knows I like but can't have. Men have it so easy compared to us, I've told DH if he continues to wind me up he'll be wearing his pint
With regards to the NT test I know I've been told to avoid the blood test as the peseries can give a false reading however I was going to have it checked on my 12week scan. I'm nervous about the result but I'd rather know than not. its a really personal choice hun and only you can make that decision but your well within your rights to refuse if you'd rather not know. Anyway hope your scan and midwife appt goes well I'm sure it will.
love Angie. Xxx |

Morning ladies
Just a quick note on the nt scan, I too was planning on having one at my 12 week scan, we refused any tests last time when I was having my ds but after much thought we decided it would be best to know as now have my son to consider as well. regarding the blood test I've never heard of the pesseries affecting results it's an interesting point. I think I'll take the pesseries with me and discuss them with the midwife at hospital.
Hope all your sickness is subsiding and your starting to enjoy things. I've already been sneaking a peep at baby clothes whilst shopping for ds last weekend, lol!
Take care all

Hi ridler,
Hope your well hun, just a quick note on NT. I was given a piece of paper to give to my midwife about what treatment I'd had and that the peseries may interfere with the blood test results as more often than not it comes out as showing us to be at higher risk (not too sure why)
I would definitely mention it hun, I'm not risking the blood test for this very reason but I'll have the back of babys neck measured which they say is a good enough indicator on its own.
It's funny you mention baby clothes, its not so much them I've been looking at more maternity things but I would dare buy any until I have my scan on Monday.

Hi all, long time no post, the time just flies!!
Just reading the comments about the pessaries affecting the blood results for the NT. To be honest, i never thought about it, maybe i should contact my midwife to see what she recommends!!
I finally had my urine test yesterday (which i should of had done 3 weeks ago at my booking appointment), so thats been sent off, but first indications are that all is ok.
On a final note, i heard the heartbeat for baby tonight, my sister is a midwife and managed to get a sonicaid from work. She wasnt sure whether she would hear a heatbeat and she wouldnt normally do on one of her ladies until 15 weeks, but she did me and found a heart beat more or less straight away...very emotional...the icing on the cake after my 12 week scan last week.
Ive completly lost track of who has their scans next, so keep me updated...numbers on here appear to be dwindling!!
Anyway, hope everyone else is well

Hi all,
care told me to tell the hospital that the pessaries affect the nt blood test. i take my last on sunday 4th and will get my bloods done on friday 9th. i am going to have the nt test done but im not going to put much faith in the answers as i was reading a few posts on here from people getting very high results and having normal babies.
i had pains so bad yesterday at work they brought a tear to my eye, they kept coming in waves and when id convinced myself a and e was a good idea they stopped. but i have been uncomfortable ever since, when i sit down it hurts. is this normal os should i call the midwife? im just off to see my sister now (she is going down hill fast, dont think she will make christmas) but i will take my green book with me with the numbers so i can call if it gets worse. sorry im always moaning on here guys im just having the year from hell ( other then being pregnant ) i am usually i happy person honest.
anyway hope you all have a wonderfull weekend ( mine starts now, woop woop) and that everything is well. i think angie's scan is next on monday. mines friday and pp's is the next monday. love to all, thank you for the great support H xx |

Hi Hannah,
I'm really sorry about your sister. I can't imagine what you are going through right now. Just know we are all here for you and you can moan to us any time you need to.
Are you ok? Did you speak to your midwife about the pains? I hope you're ok. If you're at all worried seek medical advice. I'm sure it'll be nothing to worry about. I occassionally get a few really bad waves of cramping which subside, then I just feel 'niggly' round my hips. After hours of googling I put it down to ligaments and the uterine walls stretching to accommodate bump as he/she has a growth spurt. I usually only feel it if I'm sitting down on the computer or watching tv.
With regards to the nt, my friend was told that one of her babies was high risk (she had twins) which she wasn't too worried about as she knew that it's often the case that 'high risk' often turn out fine, but it really freaked her husband so she ended up having further investigations. It turned out everything was fine and she has two gorgeous, healthy babies after an awful lot of stress! I'm still unsure as to whether or not I want it (if the midwife manages to book me in for the scan in time) because it won't make any difference to us. I was looking at the screening timetable and it looks like they only screen for sickle cell/thalassaemia up to 10 weeks, which is over a week before I see my midwife. I think I'll have to phone to see if they can still test for them that late on. I think I'm just paranoid as everything is so new and scary - but so exciting!
Anyway, I hope you're alright and that everyone else is well and having a good weekend.
Big hugs,
Katy x |

Hello ladies, is it ok if I join u?
Had my 8 + 1 scan on 31st August and saw a heartbeat!! Was so amazing! My EDD is 10/4/12!! Have an appmnt with midwife on Friday 9th which will make me 9 + 3.
Still can't believe its worked as it was our 1st ICSI and feel so lucky! Told all family and friends as nurse at care said we mite aswell enjoy being pregnant now and share our happy news as the heartbeat has been seen so there's. 98% chance that everythin will b ok now, but still get worried with every twinge and cramp, don't think will ever stop worrying. Have just been sick 1 day, thursday just gone and was awful! Have been ok b4 that and since!
Hope every1s doing well and good luck 4 all the future appointments and scans xx |

Welcome Tazzy, glad to hear your scan was so lovely.
Katy, Don't worry about the screening, the bloods can be taken at any time - unless you are high risk and expecting baby to be affected and even then it would only matter if you would consider terminating the pregnancy. If you are both low risk (white caucasian) then it is unlikely either of you will be a carrier and therefore there is no risk and no time frame. The only thing that must be done within a window of time is the NT. With the NT you need to consider what you will do with the results - if like you have suggested the result won't change your plan then you only need to consider whether forewarned is forearmed. Bear in mind that whether you decide to have the NT or not, if the sonographer see's anything that concerns them during the scan they have a duty of care to mention it.
I hope that makes sense

Thanks Tare! I just find the more I read the more I have to worry about. I think the answer is to stop reading and just focus on what the midwife says when I see her! As you've pointed out, we're low risk, so I will stop worrying about that. How is your sickness? Are you any better? Hope so! X
Hi Tazzy! Fantastic news about your scan! The nurse told us the same thing and we really want to tell everyone but I've been making hubby wait until we have the 12week scan before we make any announcements. It's my paranoia! Our parents know and I think I'm going to have to tell my boss fairly soon. Like you I still can't believe it worked first time - we had ICSI too. It's so amazing! Anyway, hope that sicky day was a one-off. X
Big hugs,

Hi Katy,
The GP gave me a stearn talking to as I was clinically dehydrated. She started me on some anti sickness tablets which have stopped the actual vomiting (sorry tmi) but sadly have done nothing for the 24/7 nausea and they totally wipe me out, so there is no hope at all of me waking before 11am, so getting back to work is not possible - yet!! I will have to go back on tuesday so we will see what the plan is then.
We, like you, are planning to spread the word after the 12 week scan (which we are having at 12+6 so it will actually be 13 weeks). When are you having your private scan??
I am glad I managed to reassure you a little - please feel free to ask any other questions you have. If you want to take it off the forum you are welcome to my email address.
Hugs
