Hello all!

Hope you are all well and enjoying every second of your pregnancy's. I know I am.

It's so good to hear that things are going well and and having fun buying lots of baby bits and pieces.

I haven't been on for a while but think its definitely time for an update as the twins arrival could be coming sooner than expected.

I have been seeing my consultant every 4 weeks for scans etc, which is routine for twins. I went for my 30 week appointment on Thursday and had my scan. Amniotic Fluid and Doppler's were fine for both babies, however consultant thinks their growth is now starting to slow down.....
Sooooo, am now going for scans every week for the next 3 weeks to monitor the fluid, Doppler and growth. Consultant was talking about babies that are born at 34 weeks do just as well as term babies however will need the Neo natal unit if come before then.
Fingers crossed, they will be fine and will at least get to 34 weeks Smile

So what push chairs etc have you all bought???
Xxx

Now 30w 3d
40 week EDD - 30th May (shouldn't be later than 37 week)
Maternity Leave - 10th April
Next scan 27th March

Phoenix,

Glad all is going well for you too. You are lucky not to have stretch marks, I had a few from before where I put on weight as a teenager and they have just got a little bit more prominent. My boobs have got a bit bigger...but my nipples are huge! Is the too much information LOL. Not very attractive at all!

I also am kidding myself that Ben and Jerry's is a craving, it is just an excuse, but if you can't have guilt free treats while you are pregnant, then when can you!

Have any of you been watching 1 born every minute, I think it is amazing, me and DH love it, it has made me start thinking about what sort of pain relief to have. I am going to play it by ear and not have any set plan, but I am quite keen not to go for the drugs that space you out if I can help it, although I have a low pain threshold, so I will probably end up having anything they offer me! LOL.

I have booked into hypnobirthing classes which I am really looking forward to, they are free at my hospital and as I used hypnotherapy through the IVF process I thought it would be a good idea. Anyone else doing it, or done it?

Evening Ladies

the weeks are flying by. Sorry not been on for a while but I'm so exhausted these days.

Sounds like all the babies are kicking well. Sam, I know exactly what you mean about the baby not kicking when you want DH to feel it. I'm sure they do it on purpose!

Glad you are ok Phoenix, was getting worried as you normally post on here regularly. I haven't got any stretch marks either (but there's still time yet)! Cant believe how soon you start your mat leave and not long now til your next scan

Babydoo - glad you and your twins are well. I don't know how you manage as carrying one baby is exhausting enough never mind two. Hope you manage to at least get to 34 weeks. Please keep us updated

Dizzee - hope the nursery is looking good with all your new furniture. I didn't realise they had an IKEA in the U.S.

afm - saw Consultant last week. Everything is going well but baby is still breech. I know there is still plenty of time for her to turn but it's so uncomfortable when you have got a head wedged under your ribs (I'm not complaining, honest)

Ah 3 wishes it sounds very uncomfortable. My sister is also pregnant and her baby was breech, she managed to turn hers at about 32 weeks by getting on the sofa upside down, with her head on the floor!!! LOL sounds tricky, but if it works it is worth it... I will have to ask her how she did it and let you know!

After all we have all been through you don't want to complain do you, even if you are being kicked like a football, not sleeping, burning indigestion, swollen ankles, and an aching back that feels like it is going to snap! LOL, but we are very lucky, and wouldn't change it for the world! Keep smiling.

xx

Thanks for the reality check Sam. I know we are all very very lucky and you're right, I wouldn't change it for the world. I still have to pinch myself sometimes to remind me of the precious gift I have growing inside me (mind you every time she kicks its a reassuring reminder that she is ok and its another day closer to her being born).

I'm up for any tips. She was so comfy when I had my 3D scan that I bet she doesn't want to turn but we shall see

My sister said that every night she got on the bed with her bottom against the pillow with her legs up the wall, and moved up as far as she could so that se was basically doing a headstand against the wall and stayed like that for 10 mins, or she got on the floor on all fours and lifted her bum up and head down, both of these positions are supposed to move the baby out of the pelvis and into the belly just before bedtime and then you lie on your left hand side and hope that she settles in the right place and stays there. It sounds like a lot of hard work and acrobatics isn't something that I would fancy just before bed, but if it works, it is worth it. It worked for my sister and the baby is still in the right position at 35 weeks! Hopefully, it will work for you. Let me know how you get on Surprised))) I will be thinking of you xx Surprised)

Yes every kick feels so good doesn't it, just to remind me that my little baby is in there, I still can't believe how lucky I am. I am loving every minute of being pregnant, I know that I am lucky to have an easy pregnancy (apart for the 3month scan (a minor low point!)), but I am starting to get sad that it is soon going to be over....I feel like I could be pregnant forever. I love it! I know once the baby is born that it will be even more amazing though. I just want to savour every moment, as it might not happen again. It is probably a good thing that it took me so long to get pregnant the first time, or I might have a football team by now!

Let me know how the acrobatics go!!!!!

xx

Hi Ladies!

Glad to hear everyone seems to be doing well!

3w - sorry if you were getting worried I had just been on holiday for a week (in France) so was offline! Had been away with work week in London before hols and have been this week too so didn't have much time for posting Smile On wind down now though only have 2 weeks left at work - can't beleive it!

On the breech babies my friend was breech and was told to do as Sam's sister is - you can also do this on the stairs using them to support you. Alternatively head stands in the swimming pool with a breathing tube, though this might be difficult to arrange!

Sam - I have been wathcing OBEM its amazing isn't it! I too can't beleive how lucky we are to be here at last, can't wait to meet my LO. Not sure I could be pregnant forever though lol although I too have been lucky to have a straight forward pregnancy Smile

I have a hypnobirthing CD from my friend but haven't used it yet or been to classes. I will have to start with the CD...

Babydoo - must be very tiring with twins hope you are ok! Also hope you manage to get to at least 34w, things will be fine if you can make it to that point. I have ordered an iCandy Peach jogger pram in Cranberry - the colour is lovely! Ordered weeks ago but not here yet. I am going to have to start chasing them Smile What have you gone for?

afm - my NCT classes start soon really looking forward to going will make everything feel very real! Anyone else off to NCT classes?

Hi Phoenix,

Good to hear from you. I am off to my first NCT class tonight! A little bit anxious as I am not that good at making friends. DH is though, aslong as he is in the right mood, he can talk the hind legs off a donkey, so fingers crossed he has had a good day LOL.

I love the idea of headstands in the pool, but imagine the funny looks you would get from other people, seeing a pair of feet poking out of the pool for 10 mins and not coming up for air, LOL!

Did you watch the OBEM last week with the 30 week premature baby! It was amazing to think that is what our babies are like, give or take a few weeks! It freaked me out a bit that there is a fully formed baby in my tummy. Weird!

I am going to borrow my sisters hypnobirthing CD tonight and start practicing before the hypno classes, if nothing else it will give me a good opportunity to have 15 mins relax! Any excuse to have a little nap Surprised)

We ordered the Uppababy vista travel system and are picking it up at the weekend. It had really good reviews on Which. Fingers crossed it is ok.

Wish I was on owind down from work, I still have 47 days (and counting), I am working up until 2 weeks before, but I am already starting to take it easy. My replacment starts 16th April!!!! I can't wait.

I will let you know how the NCT class goes.... I hope they don't make us do lots of breaking the ice exercises (cringe!)

Have a good evening all xx

Hello Ladies,

Lots going on here and there I see! I have heard of OBEM, gutted because can't get it here. There are however various labour & delivery shows, one called special delivery...that one freaks me out, my hubby says I shouldn't watch it. My classes start in about 3 weeks...eeek! However we have a maternity tour on the 10th April,

Baby seems really active, and movements appear to have changed from sharp kicks to stretching & pushing...lots of movements also! I'm almost 8 months now (32wks) nursery pretty much done, just a few more bits to do and buy.

As for delivey, haven't done any hypnobirthing, have really thought about epidurals only. I'm such a wimp lol. Bladder bothering me ATM, can't seem to hold more than a teaspoon lol, dr checked for infection but I think Alexa prefers to lay heavy on it Sad

60 days to go.....

Dizzee xxxx

Hi all,

Dizzee - it sounds like you are very organised, we stil have a lot to do, buying all the bits and bobs, I think I will try and work through my list this weekend.

Have we got a list of everyone's due date on this thread anywhere? I must write it down as it is getting close Surprised)

We went to our first NCT class last night, and it wasn't too awkward, everyone was lovely. She put us into small groups (split up partners) and we had to write on the board what we hoped we would do in the class, what we hoped we wouldn't, what we hoped labour would be, what we like and disliked about being pregnant, both men and women....it was a nice way to get everyone talking. Then she went through the physical changes to the womans body during pregnancy and labour, it was very interesting..when the baby is full grown it is amazing how any of your other organs have space to work...amazing, no wonder we have indegestion and need the loo!

It was a lovely evening and I am really looking forward to next week.

Have a nice weekend all.

Hi Ladies,

I hope you are all enjoying the bank holiday weekend!

Sam - glad to hear the NCT class went well last week. It sounds like it was really informative and relaxed which should be good. We have our first one a week tomorrow. DH is not looking forward to it lol, not because he's nervous of meeting people more that he thinks it will be really 'new age' etc, he's very practical and has little patience with stuff like that..! I think we'll be fine, everyone has really good things to say about them.

Dizzee - OBEM is awesome, can you get them on youtube or something? Series has been really good. Glad baby is very active its so exciting! I heard they were much keener on epidurals in the US than the UK? It seems like a last resort here there is a lot of pressure to have a 'natural' birth, which I think is rot, as no-one knows what it is like for anyone else. Some people manage without pain relief and others don't, there is no right or wrong, and shouldn't be pressure either way in my view.

Well I am 32w this weekend woohoo! We picked up our pram last Saturday it is lovely, can't wait for baby to be here and in it Smile I finish work next Friday too which is amazing - ready for it mind you! I'm only in 3 days next week as off Easter Monday then have my 32w scan on Tuesday. Our new car is also being delivered a week on Monday - a family bus a Volve XC60! The first brand new car me and DH have ever had (its a company car), so we're both excited.

Hope everyone has a lovely holiday weekend!

Hi Phoenix,

The first sessions of NCT was quite practical, i.e. looking at the womans body and how it changes, I guess there was a bit of 'how do you feel about......', but it is jsut to get you all talking, I am sure your DH will get a lot out of it. Good luck!

Dizzee - I know know what you mean about the kicks getting stronger, I have had a few really big kicks in the last week! They say it is because there is less space and less fluid, so you feel them more and more as it gets closer!

Babydoo - how are you getting on, it is getting close now? Keep us updated xx

3W - how are you getting on with the acrobatics? LOL

We had our 33 week scan today and all is well. baby is head down and growing well. Its body is average, but it has a big head (just like daddy!) and given that I am considered high risk anyway, they have said that they will induce me at 40 weeks if we haven't had it by then. I am a bit reluctant about this, as I think a baby will come when it is ready, also I know when they induce it makes the labour longer and harder.....but the risk of leaving it means that it could get too big to deliver naturally and has more risks, so I guess it is best to go with what they say. I also will definitely need to be on the labour unit, rather than the birthing centre, so any tips on how I can make the sterile room more cosy would be appreciated....

On a positive note, it is good that we know that it will be here at least by the first few days in June, it will be a real celebrity at the village jubilee celebrations! Also, I won't be hanging around too long waiting for it to come......

DH started giggling when they said they were going to induce me at 40 weeks, I think the realisation finally hit him that we were having a baby and he got a bit spooked! Quite funny!

Keep well everyone.....not long now till we see our little miracles Very Happy

Hi Ladies

sorry been off the radar for a while. Had a bout of diarrhoea and vomiting last week. Only lasted for 24 hours but seemed to wipe me out for days. So much for a nice few days off over Easter! Baby still breech. Have tried getting on my hands and knees but I've given the other acrobatics a miss since my back went on me when I was 8 weeks pregnant. Definitely don't want that coming back.

Sam - I definitely wouldn't want to be pregnant forever as its getting uncomfortable now and I get short of breath very quickly. I too am counting the days til I start my maternity leave. Glad to hear scan went well and baby is behaving themselves and are in the correct position

Phoenix - hope you had a lovely holiday. Can't believe you finish work in a couple of days. How did your scan go, has your placenta moved?

Dizzee - glad you and baby are well. Not long now, I think you're due date is first. How did the maternity tour go?

Hi Girls,

Maternity tour went really well, very interesting. Thank God there are single rooms! Delivery suite was nice...but couldn't take my eyes off the stirrups Smile

Got to ask lots of questions, still got the breastfeeding & child birth class to go. Only 7 weeks to go....yay!

Sam - My hubby has had a spud head also lol, hopefully Alexa won't Smile

Phoenix - How's the placenta position? When will they have to make decisions?

Babydoo - can't be long now...how are you feeling?

On a funny note I attempted to paint my toenails & do a bikini tidy myself....lol think I will just stick to pedicures & waxing iynwim Smile

Hi Ladies,

Sam - glad the scan went well thats excellent news! Also quite good news about not going past 40w. I know what you mean about the induced labours being longer and more difficult, but on the plus side you'll probably be ready for baby to be here by 40w! I know most of my friends who've been overdue get a bit fed up.

3w - sorry to hear about the illness hope you are feeling a little better now? On baby being breach there is still time for turning - my mum was telling me I didn't turn until 2 weeks before I was due, which kept everyone on their toes!

Dizzee - glad the maternity tour went well! I certainly do know what you mean about the toenails/bikini tidy. I'm just going in blind at the mo on the bikini trims IKNWIM but might need to start with the mirror - or get DH to sort it out lol!

Well 32w scan went really well, placenta has moved up so no planned section required phew! Baby is head down too which is good news. They didn't indicate a size for baby, so assume she is in normal realms, but I forgot to ask.

Only today and tomorrow left at work I can't wait. Just getting a bit tired now so glad I'm finishing quite early in the pregnancy, will be a relief to lounge around and lie in bed etc Smile

Evening all

Dizzee - I'm feeling much better now thanks. I didn't ring the midwife. I just thought as long as I could get some fluids down and baby was still moving around then everything would be ok. My friend had d&v when she was pregnant and she said the midwife wasn't too concerned. Just told to see GP if didn't settle after 24 hours. I had to laugh when you put d&v and Sam questioned it. I thought everyone knew what it was, but then when I had it all my friends kept asking me what is was (trust us nurses to use jargon)!.
I've got the maternity tour in a couple of weeks. Because of my job, I regularly visit the maternity ward and the delivery suite, but its a different ball game when you're the patient not the staff.
How on earth you managed to do your nails and a bikini tidy I have no idea, but I can imagine they weren't the best you have ever done!

Phoenix - glad scan went well and placenta has moved. Hope baby stays head down now. You are so lucky starting your maternity leave early. Hope you don't get bored! Got appointment with Consultant a week tomorrow, so I'll see what he had to say. I'm not holding my breath about her turning though, she's far too comfortable in there.

Sam - hope all is well with you and baby. Do you have any more scans booked?

afm - 3 weeks left and counting until I start my maternity leave (well I'm taking some hols as well). Can't wait as getting tired now

3wishes - no more scans booked, but I have another consultancts appointment in a month and then they will book me in for the 40 week induction, shame I won't get one last scan as I have a really great album so far! Surprised)

Did you ladies see on the other thread that fingersandtoes has had a BFP! Such exciting news! Keep all your fingers and toes crossed that it all goes well for her xxxxx

Phoenix, I am sure I would have gone overdue too, my sister has always been overdue with hers. So although I don't really fancy an induction as it is supposed to make it more drawn out and painful, it is quite nice knowing that I am not going to be 2 weeks over.

Have you all been told that you have to have your baby in the labour ward rather than a birthing unit? I am high risk for a couple of things but one of the reasons she said was that I had IVF, I just wondered if you guys had been told the same.

Due Dates: (Babydoo must be first......)

Hello girls,

Hope everyone is ok?

3w - how was your tour? Did it make you feel at ease?

Sam - lovely to hear about inductions and such...it means we're getting close. Only seems like 5 minutes ago we were worried about NT scans. I tried my luck at the Dr's today, he said although he appreciates we are on our own out here, and the idea of induction makes us feel better, he'll see if I'm favorable nearer the time Sad

Phoenix - how's the mat leave treating you, are managing to stay out of mischief...and on line shopping Smile

AFM - I had a little scare today, measuring behind two weeks in a row! Didn't like it at all and begged for a scan...though didn't need to beg to hard. Scan showed Alexa measuring 1 week over @ 35w?? And fluid fine....don't know how I measured under? They said it's just one of those things. She measures approx 5.5lbs, so all looks ok....phew! People who see me say I'm carrying low? Anyone else had this?

Take care
Dizzee

P.S I'm due 28/5

Hi All

Dizzee I shouldn't worry about measuring under or over, we are all different and the babies will be too. I got a bit worried when they said ours had a big head, but it is still normal. But it is lovely to have another scan and reassure yourself that she is ok. Good on you for pushing for a scan. Did you find it weird seeing Alexa on the screen, so developed! They are proper little people now. It makes it all so real.

We have a tour of the hospital this weekend. As we can only go in the labour unit rather than the birthing centre I didn't think there was much point, but I really am keen on having an active birth rather than being stuck on the bed, so I want to see what they have got there like balls, beanbags etc so I know what else to take with me. My sister went to have a look yesteday for herself (she is due on the 28th April) and she said that they even have a pool in the labour ward, so I might put my name down for that. It might be nice even if it is just for early part of the labour.

I start hypnobirthing classes on Monday. They are free at our hospital, so worth a try, I used hypno through the IVF too and I think it really helped me stay positive throughout it. If anything can keep me more relaxed through labour then it has got to be worth a few hours of my time. Is anyone else doing them?

Have a nice weekend all xxxxx
