Evening all, hope everyone had a lovely Christmas.

I'm sure the best present that we all had this year is that we are pregnant and this time next year we will all be celebrating Christmas as a family. Nothing can even get close to that. On Christmas Day last year I was celebrating (not) my AF after having my first miscarriage. I remember watching One Born Every Minute on Channel 4 and saying to myself, when is it going to be my turn. After months of heartache a miracle happened (because of the wonderful lady who donated her eggs), I still can't believe I am pregnant.

Sam - glad to hear everything is going ok and its amazing to hear the heartbeat

Dizzee - congratulations on finding out you're having a girl. Hopefully it will make the shopping a bit easier!

Phoenix - hope you're ok. Won't be long now til our 20 week scan, I'm counting the days! I moved my appointment with the midwife to last week and I heard the heartbeat and it was amazing. It was a bit like Sam in that at first she couldn't find it but once she did it was loud and clear. There was also this swishing noise which the midwife said was the baby kicking even though I can't feel anything yet.

Is everyone planning on finding out what they are having when they have their 20 week scan? My DP was adamant he didn't want to know, needless to say he has now changed his mind and can't wait to find out, men eh!

Hi Ladies,

3w - glad all is still going well with you. It's amazing hearing the HB isn't it - they're so fast Smile You're completely right about the pregnancy being the best present - this year I'm so much more relaxed than last year!

I can't wait for the 20w scan, DH and I are finding out the flavour. DH is too impatient not to find out!

We went pram shopping yesterday and completely bamboozled ourselves Very Happy I quite like the iCandy Peach or Apple atm, seem sturdy with a big shopping basket. I'll be walking about a mile to the village shops most days so need somethine good for groceries!

Hi all,

I hope you all had lovely Christmas, ours was great, so nice not to be feeling sorry for myself for not having a little one to share it with. Woohhoo! I still haven't felt any movement, but I am sure it will come. I am having very strange dreams though, are any of you?

I have been having lots of baby orientated dreams. Last night I had a dream that I looked down and saw a hand coming out of my belly, then looked again and I had given birth, the baby was premature, and poorly, but ok, I didn't have a nappy for it and it pooed everywhere....I had the urge to go and buy nappies today, just incase! Hahaha! But I didn't. Although I did look at buggies and bought myself some maternity clothes in the sale and one of those very long pillows, I am looking forward to bed tonight. Although not to work tomorrow Surprised( I have had a lovely week or so off, doing nothing! It has been great.

Happy new year to you all, it is going to be a great one! xxxxxx

hi all,

happy new year to you all. Sorry not been on for ages but been mad busy at work and with xmas.

20 week scan went well, decided not to find out gender, DH wanted to but agreed with me in the end. He reckons he saw its bits when they were measuring and says its def a boy but I think he just saw the cord. Laughing
The pic we got is so clear.
Saw the doc (registrar not consultant) and they have agreed to induce me at 38 weeks, however at the moment my placenta is just above the neck of the womb. If at 32 or 36 weeks it has not moved we will be looking at C section at 38 weeks instead.
was very wierd at Christmas trying to imagine how different it will be next year.
DH is very excited and keeps talking to my belly.

I think I felt some movement over last few days, feels a bit like windy bubbles then nothing else. Wasn't sure at first but now pretty sure. When I had scan the sonographer said it was moving loads but still couldn't feel anything. We are both looking forward to be able to feel proper kicks.

Belly very big but loving it.

Hope everyone keeps well for new year and has great scans.

Hi all

Phoenix - I know what you mean about being bamboozled. A week ago I didn't know the difference between all the prams, car seats, cot (beds) etc etc and then I thought I'd better start reading cos there's so much out there and I haven't got a clue. Anyway I'm a bit clearer now so will be planning to have a look around the shops soon.

Sam - I have been having weird dreams too but thankfully they are just dreams and I wake up and everything is ok.

LTJ - Glad to hear a decision has been made about your delivery. I have been feeling some weird flutterings for the past 2 weeks but I don't know if its the baby or not.

Has everyone got a bump? I just look like I've put a bit of weight on and can still fit into some of my usual clothes. Still, I suppose there's still plenty of time yet to grow!

Hi everyone,

Glad to hear everyone had a nice Xmas.

I have a nice pot belly on me now, DH says that I look clearly pregnant! Went to the dentist because basically since getting pregnant my teeth are like crap....ended up with a lovely root canal treatment just b4 my birthday lad Sunday...poo.
Then caught a whacking cold!!! Oh well, 20 weeks almost half way there girlies! After baby is born I can start to actually medicate myself if poorly....after breastfeeding that is Smile

Take care

Hi Ladies,

Happy new year! Glad everyone had a good break Smile

Sam - I've not really had baby related dreams but did have a couple of nightmares last week, where I awoke with heart racing in a blind panic!full Not had frightening dreams like that since I was a teenager - must be all the hormones!

LTJ - excellent news on the scan going so well, bet the picture is fab. Good to hear they have a birth plan sorted for you too!

3w - I am now getting a definite bump, although it really depends on what I'm wearing as to whether you can see it. Had a blouse on on NYD when we went out and many people said I didn't look pregnant, yet on NYE had a empire line dress and people kept commenting on my bump! Think the expansion will really begin over the next few weeks Smile

Dizzee - sorry to hear about the root canal and cold - rubbish! I had quite bad round ligament pain last week which had to treat with a hot water bottle due to inability to take much medicine. But will all be worth it!

Me - well DH has started his new job down south so he is now away all week until I start my maternity leave when I will join him. So feeling a bit lonely at home at the moment. Roll on maternity leave I say!

xx

Evening ladies

Dizzee - glad to hear everything going ok with your pregnancy, not so nice about the root canal treatment tho! I know what you you mean about medicating yourself if unwell. You have to think twice before you take anything now, at the end of the day its paracetamol or ...paracetamol (or do without).

Phoenix - I remember you mentioning the promotion a few months ago. Will DH be able to come home at weekends and is it still for 12 months? Will he be able to get back for your 20 week scan?

Well ladies, I take it all back. Can't believe it was only 2 days ago that I was saying I could still fit into my usual clothes. Big mistake. I went though a whole wardrobe of jeans and trousers earlier and couldn't get any of them fastened, and they definitely did fit a week ago. Had to make an emergency visit to the local retail park to get some maternity clothes, that'll teach me!

3w - DH is back at weekends so its not too bad! He can also work from home and has flexi time, so will be around for the 20w scan. I've organised this for a Monday afternoon 16th Jan, he'll work from home in the morning then come to scan and travel down afterwards. He's public sector so they're pretty flexible!

Secondment is on a rolling 6 month basis, so can be as long or as short as he wants. We're currently thinking 18 mths to take us to the end of my mat leave so I can come back to work at my current office. I work for a Big 4 accountancy firm so have options to trf offices, but the location of DH secondment is in the middle of the Cotswalds, and about as far from all 4 of our offices in the region as possible (50 miles +). Currently have a 40 mile commute to Preston but the traffic is light as I live to the North - and that is far enough Smile

I too am definitely much larger than pre-Christmas. Had a pair of trousers I could fit in for work pre-Christmas, no chance now have been using a bump band this week but they aren't comfy. A next order is definitely going ahead today for some proper maternity ones!

Hi All,

LTJ - Congrats on the successful scan and on feeling the movements! You were very controlled not finding out the gender, I don't want to know either but I know when asked I will be very tempted! Although DH doesn't want to kow either so hopefully he will reign me in Surprised)

Phoenix, that must be difficult having DH away so much, but at least you get to see eachother at the weekends and I am sure it is worth it. You are lucky that you managed to stay in your normal clothes for so long, I have been in maternity for ages, I just couldn't bear anything tight on my tummy right from the beginning. I think that was as a result of all the digging around in my trapped ovary during the egg collection, I never went back to my old clothes.

I also have scan on the 16th, which I am nervous about after last time when we had the high nuchal measurement and then the CVS test, but fingers crossed this one will go perfectly! It will also be very exciting to see the baby again!

I have started a little photo album of the scan shots I have had so far, I have quite a little album, the embryos, egg transfer, 8 week, 12 week, and then 20 week! I am thinking of putting together a little book on photobox that explains 'How I was made'.

3 wishes - sounds like your baby has moved, but you might find that tomorrow you can get back in all your clothes again....or maybe not! LOL! It is a good excuse to go shopping.

I am loving wearing all this lovely, stretchy fabric and showing off my little (or should I say big) bump! We have waited long enough, we may as well make the most of it! Surprised)

Speak to you guys soon, best go home! I think I have done enough time wasting at work today ;o)

xx

Hi Sam!

Best of luck for your scan I'm sure all will go smoothly, your little bean has had a great health check with the CVS so hoping all is well.

I can't wait to see how much baby has changed, everyone says they will look like 'a real baby' now. So excited can't wait. We are going to find out the flavour as I/DH are a bit nosy and want to have nursery all decorated!

The photo album sounds a great idea, we just have ours piled in a drawer atm Smile

Its not too bad DH being away and all worth it - his package was too good to turn down and will help with longer mat leave. Plus absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that!

Hello,

Glad to hear you are all doing so well. Amazing to think we are all in/approaching the half way mark. It doesn't seem that long ago we were in the 2 week waiting room together.
We also had our 20 week scan on Monday and all is looking great. Twin A has less room than Twin B as B is sort of sitting on top....as a result I feel twin A moving and kicking an awful lot now.
Sam - I know what you mean about being tempted to find out the sex. We have always said we want surprises but each time I'm in the scan room I'm so curious to know. But DH has managed to keep it all under control.
I will now be scanned every 4 weeks until delivery to check both are growing well. Both placentas are low lying at the moment and have been for the past 4 weeks. Have been told that if they don't move away from the birth canal will need a C section. But there is still time.

What has everyone being buying for bumps? Anyone else indulged in the sales? I cant contain myself Smile
Babydoo xx

Hi ladies,

Is it starting to feel real yet or what Smile

Babydoo, glad to hear your scans are going well...lucky you having them every 4 weeks! When do they normally deliver twins? Is it about 36 weeks? I'm in the U.S and they are very aggressive!

Phoenix and Sam good luck or your scans on the 16th! I found out the sex because I have no patience Smile

AFM O.B appointment on Friday went well, apparently according to the scan the week before she is measuring in the top 94th percentile....crap lol she is gonna be big!

Anyways girls take care

Hi Ladies

glad to see everyone is well.

Phoenix - you have had your scan brought forward a few days, lucky you, I'm so jealous. Can't wait to hear your news on Monday.

Sam - Good luck with your scan on Monday, I really hope this one goes without a hitch. You deserve some good news. The photo album sounds like a wonderful idea.

Babydoo - Glad to hear your twins are fine, I bet your bump is getting quite big now. It will be lovely seeing your little ones every few weeks.

Dizzee - she might not be that big when she is born. Is your bump big?

AFM - can't wait for my scan on 19th. Can only just fit into my work uniform so going to see about getting some new ones tomorrow. I work in a hospital and the maternity wear takes alot to be desired!

Goodluck today Phoenix. I hope it all goes well.

We are at hospital now, everything looks fine, although baby is facing the wrong way so they have told us to go for a walk and come back for a last check. It was wriggling like mad though!! Surprised)

Hi Ladies,

Babydoo - glad your twinnies are doing well! I too have indulged in the sales bought a cot bed, moses basket, some cuddle towels, a gorgeous patchwork blanket and a changing mat so far Smile

Sam - so so pleased your scan has gone well and bean was wiggling away Smile See if you can get that baby moved around after the walk!! We are at hospital at 14.30 so just at home atm Smile

3w - we got the scan moved due to DH working away, much easier for him to take a Monday/Friday off. My friend had a baby in Nov she is in NHS and said the mat uniform leaves a lot to be desired!

Dizzee - glad everything still going well. Is her size from the scan or the bump?

I'll post later and update you on the scan xx

Hi All,

Yayaya! I am so happy that it all went well this morning, I can't tell you how scared I was. I was convinced that something was going to be wrong, I am normally such a positive person, but this baby has turned me into a worried mess! I guess that is what happens when you want it so badly. The nurse was lovely, I told her that I was really anxious and she talked to us all the way through it, so nice and much better than the doctor last time, nurses all the way for me!

We have only spent money on the baby's bedroom so far, we have already decorated it and we put up curtains this weekend and now we have had our scan I am happy to order the carpet and start looking seriously for buggies. I didn't want to do anything until after the scan. We are getting lots of stuff off friends, I am happy to have 2nd hand stuff, I figured that there will be enough expense, so we might as well make the most of what people are offering, then we can spend a little bit extra on lovely things, rather than the necessary items. But I am sure I will go on a spree soon! Smile

Dizzee - They also said that our little one was bigger than the due date, but only by about 4 days, so nothing really. They still kept the date the same.

Phoenix - Good luck today xx

3w - You are lucky that you have lasted this long without being in maternity clothes! I am a real big unit (as my brother would say), although I am a bit cuddly anyway, the bump just adds to it Wink

Babydoo - I'm so glad that the twins are doing well! At least they have eachother to keep them company in there! So lovely!

Sam xx (a very happy and relieved lady today)

Just popped on to see if there's any news.

Sam that's fantastic, Laughing I'm so glad your little one is fine after all that you have been through. Have the hospital discharged you or have you still got to see the Consultant?

Good luck Phoenix - not long now

3w - I still have to see the consultant, the first one is Wednesday as I am considered high risk for a number of reasons: my BMI was 35 when I started IVF, now a little over, I have had epilepsy in the past and IVF, so I think I will always be considered high risk. Still at least I know we are being looked after.

Glad to hear your good news Sam!

I know what you mean about the scans being nerve racking! Yes my little girl is a bit of a porker Smile hubby was convinced it was my liking for cheese & Tom pizza and cheeseburgers that did it lol

They have moved my EDD to 28/05/201/. Scan showed she is in the top 94th but didn't say if it was length or weight...apparently my cervix measured very long at 4.8cm...so maybe a c- section lol although plenty of time yet

Hi Ladies,

Just back from scan and everything was perfect, baby was very active kept wiggling around and flipping over Smile I am delighted to say we are also having a little girl, I'm so excited. Was convinced it was a boy so much for mother's instinct haha. Looking forward to getting everything pinked out plus think the grandma's will be pleased with that!

I'm having another scan at 32w now too. My placenta is anterior (which is probably why I haven't felt that much despite baby doing back flips today!) and is also low lying. It was 1.3cm above cervix and needs to be 2cm for a vaginal delivery otherwise its a planned CS. The sonographer and midwife were confident it would move up though so not too worried. Smile

Sam - thats great that they are keeping you checked out, its nice to know you are been looked after.

Dizzee - glad your little girl is looking good better big and healthy than too small I think! As Sam asks does a long cervix make vaginal delivery more difficult?

Congratulations everyone on their scans!

Phoenix wonderful news on your little girl! I too thought I was having a boy Smile but deep down wanted a little girl...let's face it though after everything we have been through I'm sure no one really minds x

Sam, yes apparently can mean that a vaginal delivery could be tricky...but no one at this stage really knows. They certainly weren't worried, more of a observation at this point

Congratulations Phoenix Very Happy you and your DH must be over the moon, and you get another chance to see your lttle one before she is born.

Sam - I didn't realise you were considered high risk, at least you will get closely monitored for the rest of your pregnancy. Good luck with your appointment tomorrow, hope you're not in clinic too long (I know our antenatal clinics are notorious for keeping you waiting for hours).

If anyone's got any advice or tips on what and where to buy baby stuff, I'm all ears

Hi all

Phoenix - congrats on the news that you are having a girl, you can go and buy all your girly stuff now!

Is everyone having a girl? Am I the only one that hasn't found out the sex? ......

My consultants appointment went ok yesterday, they have said that as the baby is a little big I will have a scan at 32 and 36 weeks, which I am delighted with, really happy that bump will be looked after and it means more photos for my album that is coming along well. Plus they have referred me to a neurologist, because of brain issues I have had in the past, which caused the epilepsy and also because I am getting a few headaches, so it is just to reassure me that everything is ok. I never realised I was so complicated before this! LOL!

3W - I have no idea about where to get baby gear from, we having been given so much stuff from friends/family, which is nearly new, so the only thing we have to buy is a buggy. Which I think is harder to buy that a car! If anyone done any research or has any tips on buggies, I would be very interested to hear about it.

Have a good day xx
