Hooray for no extra drugs
AFM they did say it was a possibility that they could maybe scan me next week, but I got the impression that that was the to-my-face answer as its much easier to have someone else ring and tell me later to wait till next month.
At the end of the day if they think its best to wait till next month I'm going to have to to, shan't push it.
I don't really know about the cyst they seemed to say it would just go away again of its own accord - I really hope thats the case. |

Hi and welcome Louise- another buddy.
Wendy good news about you not needing more drugs. My drugs arrived this morning and I went into a bit of a panic about the whole cycle. It just makes it more real and reminds me what I have to do to give me a chance at having another baby. I know it is our only option but still gets to me sometimes. I just have to do the cycle and hope.

It is a bit scary isn't it Anna - when you think of people that can get pregnant naturally and all the gubbins that we then have to do, it's a bit daunting - and we have so much riding on it financially and emotionally. As far as I know I (theoretically) could have children naturally, but I got to 33 without having got pregnant with any of my ex's (and I wasn't always careful ), so I do wonder if I could or not.
Oh well, lets just throw everything at it and hope for the best. Are you doing anything like acupuncture or on a special diet or anything? I did so much more preparation for my previous cycles, losing weight, acupuncture, special diets, I tried the whey protein and all sorts. I guess I'll never know if they made a difference or not. I think it's pretty much a lottery to be honest. Lets just hope our lucky numbers come up!!

It is very scary. This will be our 4th full ICSI cycle. The previous 3 cycles I had in a year which was tough but definetely worth it and that I know I am very lucky. How many cycles have you had?
I do find it a stress the financial, emotional and physical side. I would be happy with those stresses if it was guaranteed to work!!! Yes, people accidentially getting pg whilst on birth control or getting drunk etc, wish it could have been me. Most of the time I accept this is our only way to conceive but other times I have a wobble.
Now trying to be positive here is what I am doing to help a successful cycle. I have lost 5 and a half stone so now got a bmi of 22, which is a stone lighter than my previous cycle. I am trying to get my quota of fruit and veg. I have just started drinking water but really need to have more. I don't drink much alcohol but do like wine but guess I will stop completely before DR I guess?? I listen to hynotherapy cd's and they help me to relax. Never had acupunture. What about you? I have not heard of the whey protein diet. What is it?

Blimey, you've done a lot more than me! My BMI is way over what it should be, well done you on losing 5.5 stone. I need to lose about 4 stone, but not really the time to go on a crash diet just before a cycle... I am drinking more water and cutting down on caffeine. I might have to try a hypnotherapy CD as I listened to the Zita West one before bed every night before and after ET on my cycle with Theo. I sent it onto a friend though, so may have to invest in another.
This will be my 3rd cycle. My first I got a BFP but then had a miscarriage at 6 weeks, then my second resulted in Theo, so I've been lucky I guess.
Right, must get on, got to go on a conference call. Boo!

Wendy,
I lost 2 stone on my own by going on wii plus when DS was very small and he was in his bouncer, usually he nodded off. then I lost another 3 stone at weight watchers and then I got to ideal weight and lost another 7lbs although gained some lbs over christmas!!!!!! It was hard losing weight. The PCOS makes it harder. I forgot to say I swapped and now I have decaf tea and coffee. That way I can have a little chocolate.
I have the Zita west cd and I prefer to listen to that on one the 2ww and at the moment i use natal hynotherapy- the ivf companion. This one I have ben using now and it helps me feel positive and less scared of going to the clinic and having blood tests etc. i only used it on my last cycle so that may have been what made the difference so got to use it.
Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Great that you were successful second time around. i am sticking with you and hoping some luck can come both our ways. Fingers and toes are crossed!!!!

Hi Ladies
Can I join you please, Im trying for bambino number 2 on frozen cycle. I have had 2 x BFN trying for number 2 so far so hoping it is 3rd time lucky for me. I have already started meds so much further than on that some of you. Hope I can start the thread off on a BFP
I have scan booked for Monday and then should have ET a few days later (cant remember how many days I have to wait so thinkng Friday). I am only having one put back in this time as we have 5 x blasts in the freezer and they said it is a 50% success rate so although I was happy with 2 embryos being put back in they advise against it.
Wendy - hello again . It must be a good omen that we are cycling together again! Its so exciting isnt it! Glad to hear no steroids are needed woohoo. Give us a shout if you need reminding on anything throughout the cycle x
Juleshid - Good luck with this cycle, I hope the cyst goes away on its own. Im quite a cysty person too and have had to have one removed which was about 14cm! Not sure if they could maybe drain it at EC if you ask next time maybe x
Anna - Not long now until the injections start for you. You will get back into the swing of it after a few days, I prefer doing them myself too as at least you know if it hurts you can stop and doing it slower x
Sara - Have you had your review app yet?
Louise - glad to hear you can get started this month. Are you doing full cycle or FET ?
Catch up soon. I have Fridays off work with Edward so taking him swimming in the morning and then some NCT friends and kids over in the afternoon so a busy day ahead. Need an early night, these early mornings take there tole dont they but totally worth it |

KatieH,
Of course you can join. The more the merrier. I have never had a FET (never had embryos to freeze) so not completely sure what the process is. BFN are awful. I have had 2 from fresh cycles but it was thord time lucky for me when I got my BFP so hope its lucky for you too!! You are completely right about the speed of injections. i hate the stinging when too fast.

Katie, yay, lets hope we're bump buddies again, although you'd be ahead of me this time. Good luck for your scan on Monday, hope your lining is nice and thick and you're ready for ET. I am sure that those lovely blasts will come up trumps and I can understand you only having 1 transferred.
Anna, you've done so well with the weight loss and getting fit. I bought a wii fit last Christmas (and I mean Christmas 2010) but haven't even had it out of the box! Being a full time working single mum doesn't leave much time or inclination for exercise! lol
I hope that I am lucky for all of us!
Hello to other ladies, hope you're all ok. I'm fed up of waiting to start already! lol Have got my letter from Care though to confirm my start date so it's definitely real! lol
Right must go to bed, although no work tomorrow! Yay

Wendy,
I have done well but over indulged over Christmas with wine and naughty treats like cakes and chocolates. I am not surprised you haven't got the time working full time etc. I really need to get back on the wii and do my new game just dance 3. I just want to get started now. I hate the waiting/ build day.

Hi girls
Well done Anna that's a fab weight loss, I've got 2 1/2 stone to lose ideally.
I'm not doing a full cycle as Care won't treat me due to being a poor responder, last full cycle I got 1 egg. I have had 3 natural pregnancies so we are going down the IUI route as in theory hubby's sample is lowish but ok and I have got pg 6 times so I can do it just need all the planets in order.
I'm due on 15th and have just got my prescription for the Clomid. It's 100 mg I'm sure I was on 50mg last time, I got 3 good follicles so not sure why they have upped it.
Juleshid hopefully it will just go on it's own I had surgery on a chocolate cyst in 2004.

Louise,
just read your post and I am luckily now an auntie to my niece who was born on 27th Dec 11 after IUI treatment. My SIL tried ivf but was a very poor responder so had a 2nd IUI cycle as the result was my beautiful niece. I guess what I am saying is I know a story in my family so hopefully you will be lucky. I had clomid and it sent me a little loopy, hope you are ok on it.

That's great news Anna, i had a failed IUI in Dec so hoping it's 2nd time lucky. When I first had it 10 years ago it sent me. Loopy but luckily this time I was ok well no more loopy than normal.
Sometimes I think I'm mad wanting another baby but I know I'll always regret it if I dont try, not sure how many goes we will have.
Wendy you are so strong to go it alone much respect to you I bet many single ladies would love to have the courage to go it alone.

Hi ladies can I join you please? We've just had our prescription and protocol through for a go at iui.
We were lucky enough that our 2nd iui resulted in Ewan but after 17 months of trying naturally for our 2nd child we have embarked on the rollercoster again.
I've been going to slimming world and lost a stone recently although still have another stone to lose to get back to the weight I was before I had Ewan.
Wishing you all lots of luck.
( I'm still secretly hoping for that natural miracle)

Louise - I know for me I want to feel I did all I could to have another child or I would regret it when its too late/older. I don't think you are mad, just trying to extend your family so good luck to you. I always wanted at least 3 children, 4 really but i know for us that isn't very likely due to the cost of ICSI.
Sarah - Of course you can join. Well done on the weight loss. It is never easy. Good luck with your IUI cycle.

Hello ladies, gosh you've been gasbags whilst I've been at this christening today! Lol.
My best friend is home from Australia for a few weeks with her son who was 1 on Wednesday (result of her 5th ICSI - she has premature ovarian failure and only gets 1 egg per cycle - they clearly don't have qualms about doing it over there Louise!), so they got him Christened whilst they were back, so it was lovely to see everyone and all my family went (we grew up on the same street). So nice. Am shattered now though!
Louise, great news on the IUI, lets hope it's 2nd time lucky for you too. No idea about chlomid, I've never taken it. I have a friend at work who did several months on chlomid (not with IUI) and gave up after last cycle when it was BFN as she went loopy on it - little did she know that BFN was actually a positive and she didn't realise she was actually pregnant until she was 28 weeks (she has PCOS so no periods). She has since gone on to have 2 natural miracles since (well she's pregnant with baby number 3 at the moment). It just goes to show...
Jules, get all your questions written down for when you go back. It's still a bummer about the cyst.
Louise good luck for your IUI. Do you take chlomid for a couple of weeks until you ovulate after your AF on 15th? You'll probably be a couple of weeks ahead of Anna and I in that case. Thank you for your lovely comments, a lot of people say I'm brave, but I don't feel it, I just kind of feel a bit single minded about it, because I've always been quite determined and when I hadn't met anyone (rather just came out of yet another failed relationship) just after I turned 33, I just decided to go it alone. I am very lucky as I have a good job and can afford to do it on my own and I know that a lot of ladies aren't in a position to do it financially, but I know there are a growing number of women who would love a child and just 'can't' because they're not married/in a relationship. I have ummed and ahhed about trying for number 2 for a long while and my decision was put off a bit by developing Graves disease early last year, but now the thyroid is under control and as I'm turning 37 in 2 days, I thought it was now or never and I have to give those swimmers in the freezer a chance to be set free! lol.
Anna, great news about your niece being the result of IUI. It obviously does work! I know that Squeeza has 2 children and both were the result of IUI (in fact I think she got pregnant first time on both attempts). I always wanted 3 or 4 children, but practically on my own I think 2 will be enough to cope with!
Sarah, of course you can join us, another IUI lady. Fingers crossed that you get a natural miracle without having to have the IUI. Good luck!
Wendy x
p.s. if I get round to it I'll try and do a list of who we all are and where we all are. |

Wendy - I am glad you are doing a list as how do you keep track otherwise?? I had 9 cycles of Clomid. It was a complete waste of time though as they told me my tubes were fine after HSG but I pushed and had lap and dye and fallopian tubes were both blocked. Clomid did sent me very mad though.

Hi girls
I will start Clomid on day 2 for 5 days then be scanned and wait for ov once you get a surge you go in good old turkey baster does the trick. It's great really so relaxed as with all my ivfs I always panicked about follicle numbers I only need 1 or 2 so it's great for me.
Off to bed as shattered

Ladies
Squeeza, thanks for dropping by - I nearly commented on the losing weight thread that I weigh considerably more than you do, but as I'm about to start a cycle, didn't think it was the time for a crash diet! Love the new photo of your two, they're so grown up!
Anna, sounds like a right palaver with the IUI - I can't believe they didn't properly check that your tubes were clear.
Louise, sounds like it's a relatively short cycle going for IUI, I presume they test your hormones by blood test rather than those daft conception indictators?
Well I've done a list, let me know if there's anything wrong. If it's OK I'll stick it on page 1. There's quite a few of us now! )
AFM had a lovely weekend. At my mum's on Sunday she'd bought me a birthday cake and all the family sang happy birthday to me, bless them. It's not my birthday until tomorrow though, but am going to eek it out as having friends round on Saturday night for a takeaway and a few cheeky beers. It's all rock and roll when you have kids!!
Louise - starts Chlomid after AF 15th Jan for IUI no 2
Wendy - start DR 17th Jan for IVF no 3
Anna - start DR 18th Jan for ICSI no 4
Katie - part way through FET - scan 9th ET 13th?
Jules - pesky Cyst start Feb ICSI no 6
Sarah - about to start IUI no 3
Sara - review January for IVF no 2
Right best get off, got some work to do this evening and it's really complicated. I've really cut down on the caffeine and I'm shattered! lol.

Wendy - I like the list. I know it still loads but I am on ICSI full cycle 4 not 5. Think I confused you as I have never had IUI. I had clomid on its own on 9 cycles but was never monitored. this was before mine or hubby diagnoses, if that makes sense. sometimes I confuse myself!!!!!! IKWYM about feeling shattered. I am serious lack my normal get up and go and think it is because of lack of caffeine.
Happy birthday for tomorrow Wendy. Hope you have a good day.

Hi Ladies
Hope you had a good weekend. We did sod all which was bliss becasue we had a busy xmas with family etc.
Update from me - I had a half day at work as was at CARE in the morning, I had my scan and bloods taken, my bloods came back ok but they saw a large follicle and are worried about me ovulating before getting to ET so they have asked me to come back in on Weds fo another scan. Im hoping its just an old follicle from my fresh cycle a few months ago and that this cycle wont be cancelled.
I also had to have another Chlamydia test done as apparently they need an up today one and the one since 2007 needs updating which I found odd as they didnt ask for it on my fresh cycle a few months ago. I know the result will be negative but it just annoyed me that it was another spanner in the works last minute iykwim. They have advised that ET should be Monday if blood levels are ok so fingers crossed
Wendy - Happy birthday for tomorrow (dont think I will have time to log on). Hope you have some good time with your friend while she is back in the country, I remember you telling me about her journey through ivf, I cant believe her son is one now!
Hi to everyone else sorry no more personals. Im knackered so going to go to bed and read a book (see if I can get a whole chapter out the way before I fall asleep Lol) |
