Rusty - I am still here - just in the background as I am on waiting list so no treatment things happening. I am about to sign up for some acupuncture to ensure I am in the best possible place when we get the call - anyone else had any?

Hi ladies,
Hi again Farmgirl, think I remember you from another board; waiting eh? Are you managing ok?
I've been matched but still a while from starting. What fun!
I've had acupuncture, but I had it in hope it might bring my amh up and fsh down in prep for Care referral. As you can probably tell it didn't quite work although it did help calm me a lot, and helped me with mood swings and hot flushes. I would really recommend it and only stopped as we went onto waiting list and I couldn't afford to do it forever.
Am considering it again now tho, to relax if nothing else, was going to get in touch with the guy I used before.
Am unsure what I would be asking for and when I should have it. Is acupuncture recommended for thickening lining...?
I should probably read up!!
Big love to all of you, Alice I hope DH's op went well. Xxx |

Ah, thanks Curly girl - DH finally had his op last night. Went to see him today and he was in a lot of pain but at least he is now on the mend and can come home tomorrow!
How is everyone else? Urchin, any news? Very excited for you!

Good here too, had our meeting at Care and won't actually be starting treatment for a few weeks so just trying not to go mad with the suspense!!
Alice, how's your other half? Back at home recovering I hope?
Fidyro, have you checked your employee policy on leave for medical appointments? You could classify it that way? Be easier to say medical appointment for gynaecology then having to fib and cover it later? I've had to tell my boss everything because of my various surgeries which has its advantages in that she's very supportive but also who wants to be discussing that during manager reviews!!
So exciting tho, nearly at EC... I know you can't say when but lots and lots of luck.

Hello everyone, glad you are all ok.
Thanks for asking about DH Fran, yes he is now back at home and recuperating. He'll be off work for another week at least then things can get back to 'normal'. So you are starting in a few weeks, hope you're coping with the wait. Patience has never been one of my strong points either but I think you get used to waiting with this ivf malarky!
Fidyro, have you now had ET? How are you feeling? Please let us support you through the 2ww!
Rusty, how are you doing with the DR? Hope you are coping ok with all the side-effects.
Farmgirl, hope you are doing ok too. I've had acupuncture for some of my other cycles. I found it helped me to feel like I was doing something. And it was really relaxing too.
AFM, I've now had my DR scan and have started 'phase 2' !! I'm really excited but also sometimes feel like its destined to fail. Seem to swing from one to the other. I guess thats normal...
Urchin, how are you? I'm assuming you're on the 2ww now.
Sorry I can't go back a page to remember other people but I hope you're all ok.
love Alice x |

Hope everyone else is doing well, I am so excited about the next few weeks. I think I am okay to say this, I am being a surrogate for a couple who need to use an egg donor. From what I understand our donor won't be told this information so I am okay to post here but please if anyone knows different then let me know and I will request this post be removed.
I have been very lucky so far and not had any side affects at all and have responded well to the drugs so just hoping and hoping that things continue to go well, the couple I am being a surrogate for have been trying to have a baby through surrogacy for 5 years now - it is certainly their time |

Hi Fidyro,
You are one amazing and special lady to be a surrogate ... there are so few ladies like you. I have not come across many (only one or two) surrogates on Fertility BB's, when I would have thought a good number would have originated from these places, as the ladies (after experiencing IF and subsequently achieving success(es)) would be one step closer to understanding what Intended Parents had gone through and be willing to help others even less fortunate then themselves.
I suppose it is only when one (i.e. Intended Parents) has to go down the surrogacy route that one appreciates how tough the journey really is.
Surrogacy is such a difficult (physically, emotionally and psychologically challenging) and selfless thing to do ... I really admire you. I would like to say a big thank you for being a surrogate ... I know that your Intended Parents will be so grateful and indepted to you whatever the outcome ... as without ladies like you, they could never have the chance of having a baby (except for going down the adoption route which is another tough tortuous journey).
Best of luck to you and your Intended Parents, (and the donor).

Maple, Rusty, thanks guys but honestly I get so much from being a surrogate, I feel so lucky that I have the ability to help people in such a life changing way. My IPs did try going down the adoption route but were told that they would only be matched with a school age child and they long for a baby to raise.
Alice, hope your 'phase 2' is going well, we must be very close in dates (I've not had ET yet but not far away), I know what you mean about worrying about it not working but fingers crossed we both get BFPs really really soon
Fran, I am making up stories left right and centre at work! They will be less than happy if I tell them I am being a surrogate again so the plan is to wait until the last minute. I am very lucky to have a flexible job so at the moment I can get away with a few fibs.
One thing I am looking forward too is no more down reg! I am using the nasal spray as I am terrible with injections and my nose has now started to get really tender and I keep sneezing all the time!
Hope everyone else is doing well at the various stages |

Wow Fidyro Thats so exciting! It must be hard not being able to give details but its great to know that it went well and you are on your 2WW. Your IPs must be so excited too!
I'm still on 'stage 2', got a scan next week so hopefully EC is not too far away.
How is everyone else doing?

Hi girls,
I've been staying away as we're still a way away from treatment; no movement for us until next month now.
Glad things for you both are progressing well.

Oh Curly, I'm so sorry to hear that. I know how frustrating it must be to be waiting still. Do you mean that you'll start in March? Remember Feb is a short month so it'll be here before you know it. I'm sure the busier you are the quicker time will pass.
Don't be a stranger!

Sorry girls but am really struggling at mo, start seems ages and ages away, work is a mare not least cos they're looking at changing our terms and conditions (can't go into details but if treatment works we'll be feeding the poor little bugger bread and water) and I am literally surrounded by pregnant women: work, home even my Slimming Club.
Am I wallowing, quite possibly, but I've had just about enough of putting a brave face on it when it's always bad news. Got news yesterday that DH's motility is low so they're going to do ICSI, which is fine, but it's just another negative to pile on top.
I'm worried that if I'm this stressed now, what will I be like in the 2WW, or even on the day of EC.
So sorry to unload all this but I think DH is exhausted trying to keep me afloat and upbeat and I can't keep doing it to him.
I hope that you're all feeling a little more solid than I am.
Fidyro, how's 2WW going? Alice, have you had your scan yet?

Oh Curly, I just want to give you a great big hug.
This whole thing is just so unfair and depressing. And when you're feeling low anyway the last thing you want to see is bloody pregnant women everywhere.
You mustn't apologise for offloading, thats what this board is for and nobody will understand as well as us because we've all been there too.
Its exhausting putting on a brave face all the time isn't it? And you need to let yourself have times where you just fall apart and wallow.
So sorry to hear about work.
I've got to run now but will write more later.
Just wanted to give you that hug

Oh Curly, I am so sorry you are having such a tough time. We went through a process of change in terms and conditions years ago when our company was taken over by another. In the end though most of the significant changes didn't happen, as they were deemed to be unfair and too far removed from our current contracts. I hope it doesn't turn out as back as you expect.
AFM, I am going a little crazy in the 2WW but not as much as my IPs! They don't want to know anything until OFD so I am trying to resist the urge to test early!
So far I am being really lucky on the side affects front, only problem I seem to have is increased wind! |

Thanks Nin and Fidyro for your kind words, have been trying not to be negative but sometimes it just gets the better of you doesn't it?!
Am going out with DH tonight to dance my troubles away!
Glad that wind is your only side effect Fidyro, fingers and toes crossed for you.
How are you doing Alice, whereabouts are you in the process, can you say?

| Good evening ladies. I've just read all your stories and I hope you are all well and that things are getting easier for those who are struggling. I am half way through down reg. I've never been on a long protocol before so things seem to be taking ages but it's allowing me to not panic and stress about things. The effects of bruserelin seem to have eased apart from the weight gain!! Hoping things will start to happen early march x feeling good x |

Hi everyone,
Fran, how are you feeling today? Did the dancing help? What kind of dancing was it I wonder...
You are right that sometimes it all gets on top of you and the negative feelings seem to be winning, but hopefully you will also have times when you feel positive and excited about things. Even if it is just for a fleeting moment, enjoy those happy feelings when you get them.
Fidyro, how is the 2ww going? I know you can't say much but I wonder if you are nearing the end? Wishing you so much luck.
Rusty, sorry to hear about the buserelin side effects but as you say there could be worse things! March will be here before you know it.
Farmgirl, how are things with you? Sorry can't look on first page to find others but hope you're all doing ok.
I had a complete nightmare yesterday because I ran out of Buserelin and had stupidly not used my private prescription to get some more. None of the pharmacies I went to had it and couldn't order it in until Monday! To cut a very long story short the lovely emergency nurse sorted me out (along with two very helpful consultants, lots of phone calls and faxes) and I finally got my hands on it yesterday evening. Phew! Hopefully things will go more smoothly from now on. My donor has egg collection quite soon (can't say when of course!) so things are starting to get a bit scary. Its so different being on a DE cycle because you are kind of removed from the process then suddenly WHAM you're thrown into all the worries about egg numbers, sperm quality, fertilisation, embryo quality etc. I just want those embryos inside me so that I can concentrate on that bit. I'm still wavering between extreme positivity and feeling like its doomed before its begun. But I guess thats normal.
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend, its not quite so cold today here in Bristol.
Fran, really hope you're feeling a bit brighter.
