hi ladys iv had some heart broken news and dont know what to do been for my 1st scan today and had 5 large eggs and severel small ones i phoned for my results and was told i may only have 5 eggs so may not be able to share iv still another 5 injections to go before egg collection rough date for collection is 30th i was told i need to decide to donate all or pay Â£2500 which i dont have, i dont know what to do could more eggs grow or do i have to choose between me and the lady im donating too? iv cryed all day and dont know what to do Sad

Hi Trina,

F&T has said it all really. I'm not sure what clinic you are at, but you shouldn't need to pay with Care if you decide to keep all the eggs, but you wouldn't be allowed to share again in the future. If you do donate all the eggs, the cycle is competely free next time and you can keep all the eggs.

You will only need wait around three months for your next cycle so not a huge amount of time in the scheme of things. I know it seems forever at EC time but you really need to weigh up your options. If you can't afford to pay full price for treatment it may not be an option to keep all the eggs, as don't forget you might not be first time lucky and need more treatment. If you kept them all the sharing option would then be closed to you and you may not be able to afford another round. Also donating all then getting a free cycle to keep them all is sometimes a good course of action as they can tweak your protocol and you may well respond better second time around. The more eggs you get the better the chances of success. 5 eggs is a good result if you can keep them all.

Have you spoken to the consultant or one of the nurses? As F&T says they may want you to stim for longer or increase your dose of drugs to try get a better response. I would call them and chat through your options. I would ask them the same questions you have here - I've written a list below to help out.

- Is there any way we can increase my chances of getting more eggs? Can you increase my dose of stimulation drugs or can I stimulate for longer?
- What happens if I keep all the eggs? How much do I have to pay and how will this affect my ability to donate again in the future if this round does not work?
- What happens if I donate all the eggs? Can I have a free round next time?
- Which option would you recommend based on my results. Is there a chance I could respond better with a different protocol next cycle? If so would it be better for me to donate all this time with the chance of keeping all eggs next time?

However they do sometimes recommend for you to keep all the eggs - this happens if you get a very low number (like 1 or 2) and would probably not be able to respond better on a different protocol. In which case you wouldn't be able to share again anyway. This is not that likely to be the case with you as you already have 5 lead follicles.

Also Trina I would recommend you remove the rough EC date and number of injections from your post. I'd put 'EC is soon and only have a limited number of injections left' or something like that.

This is beacuase yu need to preserve confidentiality on the boards and ginving dates can breach that. I only say this as I really don't want you to have posts removed/or banned from the boards at a time you need the support.

Thank you I have phoned clinic and I'm on the highest dose so prob won't be able to egg share again I really don't know what to do x
