Hi Ladies,

I know there is really no way of knowing if this bfp is another chemical but I'm just driving myself bonkers! My OTD was yesterday (14.11.11). I had to go to the loo in the night so when I did my test my pee was only less than 2 hours old. (too much info sorry!) The care test brought a bfp up in approx a minute- was a clear line but it took a further 5 minutes to become darker- although still not as dark as the control line.

I am concerned that it wasn't as dark as previous tests because I got my first bfp 7dp5dt and it was a strong positive on a frer and the clear blue said 2-3 weeks (which seemed q high for early on). I have been a poas addict since and the FRER's have got increasingly darker all week, becoming even stronger than the control line. Although when I took some Morrisons own tests they weren't as dark as the control line although the FRERs were at the same time???

Also, the clear blue still said 2-3 weeks on sunday, the day before OTD and I had been hoping it would have moved up to 3+. I know technically speaking it shouldn't be 3+ until this thursday 16dp5dt but as I got 2-3 so early I assumed it should have gone up already. I daren't do another test today in case it still says 2-3!!!

After my last IVF I had a chemical pregnancy but I had a feeling something was wrong as my tests never really became darker and I could barely see the positive on the care test on otd. Anybody have any reassurig words before I drive my poor hubby nuts?

Best wishes,

Bernie81 x

P.S I have just read this back before posting and I sound like a crazy lady! Smile

Hi Bernie,

You're entitled to sound like a crazy lady - you've been through an ordeal with IVF plus all the drugs. Need I go on?

Anyway, what I really wanted to say was that I have read SOOOOOOO many posts over the years about the Care tests being much feinter than other tests. I'm sure if you did a search you'd find lots of posts/comments.

I will keep everything crossed that all is well for you & your BFP. Keep away from the HTPs now and try not to get stressed about things unless you've got a good reason to stress. When is your scan date?

lol

Hi there, you don't sound any more nuts than the rest of us on this board so don't worry!

I did my care test on my otd and I stared and stared at it... A very feint line appeared after three minutes, literally just as I had given up hope it appeared. So if yours appeared after a minute you are doing better than me and I've already seen my flickering heartbeat.

There is absolutely no reason to assume this is another biochem.

Good luck x

Hi Reds and EmmaJane,

Thank you both so much for replying, I've been browsing on here for over a year and never posted. It's lovely to talk to people who understand what you're going through- I have been v private about my treatment and very few friends/family know.

It is reassuring that other people have had the same problem with Care tests, I guess I was also slightly concerned about dark positives on FRERs and average positives on Morrisons tests but perhaps the Morrisons ones are just cheapies!

The conception indicator tests are a nightmare, wished I'd stayed away from them...

Reds - your twins are beautiful, you lucky lady! My scan date is 2nd Dec, so q a while off- I begged them to do it a little early (7wks 1 day) so fingers crossed.

Emmajane - fantastic news that you saw a flickering heart, what a wonderful moment! Sending good wishes your way for the rest of your pregnancy!

Bernie,

It's best not to have your first scan tooooo early as the stress of not seeing a heartbeat must be dreadful. Leaving it until 7 weeks is definitely early enough.

Thanks for your comments regarding my girls - I am very lucky indeed and never forget it!

I'm glad you've plucked up the courage to post - there are some wonderful people on here and I've made some fab friends over the years. I guess that's why I'm still here Very Happy

If you have any worries and anxieties don't feel daft for sharing - we've all been there and can remember how daunting it all is.

Hi Reds,

Thanks for your advice on scans, I'd read that you should see a heartbeat by 7 weeks so I thought I wouldn't ask for any earlier- is that about right?

I do have a couple of questions (sorry to be a pest). I am 4 weeks 5 days and not really having many symptoms. When does morning sickness etc usually kick in?

Wish I could just stop worrying and enjoy! I never thought I'd be hoping for sore boobs and sickness- insane! ha ha. When and if it does happen I'll be really moaning. xx

Hi Bernie,

I can't really advise re morning sickness - I never had any Very Happy Very Happy the only 'symptoms' I had before the scan could easily have been caused by the pessaries (tender boobs, tiredness, needing to wee every five minutes - although that was probably caused by drinking gallons of water as advised Rolling Eyes). I honestly was terrified before my scan as I didn't 'feel' different. Imagine our shock when we were shown two heartbeats!

Is there a thread for December scans? If not, set one up and start posting with the other ladies - you'll see that you're all going mad in the same way Wink

Look after yourself and enjoy your precious little secret Very Happy

Thanks Reds,

That makes me feel much better. What a wonderful surprise for you! Funnily enough after posting yesterday- I woke up this morning feeling a little bit queasy and had managed to not go to the toilet for the first time during the night so... I took another clearblue digital which said 3+ straight away. Apparently it has to be first morning urine for it to be accurate.

I'm technically a day early for it to be reading 3+ so I'm taking that as a really good sign. Perhaps if I'd managed to do a proper FMU before it may have even come up earlier.

xx

Hi bernie, congratulations on the 3plus test! Yeyyy!

You are totally normal feeling very few symptoms. I haven't had any nausea at all, just got tender boobs and a massive belly!

Thanks for your good luck wishes. I'm now at the stage where my six week scan seems like a long time ago (Friday) and yet it's a long time to wait until my 8 week scan. Having a real paranoid day today. Wish I could hear that tiny heartbeat!

Xx

Thanks Emmajane,

It's just totally lifted me - I've decided no more tests now, they're just anxiety inducing and not always accurate!

Great to hear it's normal at this stage not to have many symptoms, think some may be kicking in though- wee bit queasy at the mo, so perhaps I'll have that joy to come.

I'm sure I would feel exactly the same as you a few days after a 6 week scan (I'm a forever worrier) but I guess you have to try and focus on the fact that so far everything is just as it should be and there is no reason to think it wont continue that way. Thats what I know everyone would tell me (would I listen? would I knickers! lol)

I look forward to seeing your happy post after your 8 week scan, saying that your little ones heart beat is still perfect!

xxx

Bernie - congratulations on your BFP! I just wanted to re-assure you on the lack of symptoms. I had none until I was 5w and was convinced I'd get a BFN on OTD as had no symptoms at all in 2ww.

I've had quite bad morning sickness after that but it comes in waves, and I've had some days feeling ok - at which point I'd start panicing again about chemical pregnancy/mmc etc.

My boobs have increased in size but haven't really been sore except for a few days between 5w and 6w.

What I'm trying to say is I think given all we've been through to get to this point its not surprising we worry about everything. I'm not sure I'll believe it until baby is here and in my arms!

Also HPTs are very unreliable. I did quite a few up till my scan at 7w3d and got many varying lines. Everything was fine at that scan and had another at 9w3d which was also perfect.

Best wishes for the scan and congratulations again

xxx

Hi Cinnamon and Phoenix,

Thanks for your messages.

Cinnamon - those damn care tests, wish they'd change them. On a happier note, what a lovely picture of your little girl - congrats!

Phoenix - it's really helpful to hear other ladies experiences, I'm 5 w today and feel just slightly queasy but no sickness and only slightly sore boobs but it would seem that is relatively normal at this stage! I'm going to try my best to stay clear of hpts as they seem just to cause more worry. Fantastic news about your two scans, I bet they were two of the best days of your life. I'm so excited and nervous all rolled into one about my scan, thanks for your best wishes - fingers crossed.

I'm sure all will continue to be perfect for you!

Hi reds, haven't been posting anywhere after my initial thread but will def send u some updates as things hopefully progress. Could def do with some advice when I'm a bit further along and things have sunk in. Still paranoid as anything but feel a bit better after my scan. I was worrying when I wasn't sick then finally I was a bit nauseas and retching (lovely) but that seems to have gone away so I wish it'd had never been there - ha no pleasing me eh! I'm just trying to think positively but it doesn't come naturally!

Thanks for asking xxxx

Bernie,

Why not join the December scans thread or pop onto the Bumps, Babies & Beyond and hunt out the enooooormous Twin Mummies To Be thread (may be a few pages back) and post on there - you'll get more advice than you can shake a stick at Laughing I'm usually lurking most days, posting mainly on Life Begins and BB&B so will always keep an eye out for you. I'm SO excited for you - I can still remember how we felt after our first scan even tough it was six years ago!

Bernie how wonderful to be expecting twins! Congratulations!

I saw two heartbeats on my last scan too.... but sadly one was way way behind the other and they don't expect it to be able to catch up. I have another scan on Thursday to find out.

And I'm still feeling very few symptoms. Just eating eating eating!

Hi Ladies,

Reds- thanks for the tips, I might have a look and see if I can find the thread... xx

Emmajane - thanks loads for the congrats- great to hear your news about your scan, you never know the smaller little un might just be a fighter and catch up - lots of luck on your next scan!

Slightly disconcerting not having many symptoms but the more I read the more I realise that there is no 'normal' pregnancy and everyone is different. What matters is the scan proves we are both pregnant and the stats of things continuing are now most defintely in our favour.

My symptoms are pretty much minimal, slightly more tiredness, the odd twinge, occasional retching in the morning and like you eating for England. No sore boobies and no morning sickness - we should think ourselves lucky I guess! xxx

I did eat a LOT - from about 20 mins after ET aaaaaallllllll the way through to a couple of days after they were born and only gained 2 stone 13lb. Definitely felt a bit icky if I left it too long between food/snacks, so just troughed as a deterrent Laughing
