Sorry to hear your news Bagpuss, but I have heard of ladies not getting a BFP until their actual OTD, so you never know...
Hi ladies thanks for asking after me. I'm ok, still bleeding and digital test still 1-2 weeks this morning (should be 5 weeks tomorrow), so I'm pretty sure that's it for me. I may not be around much, but will be wishing you all well.

Hi poppy it was a bfn for me last fri, really can't afford any more cycles the drugs alone were over 2,000 this time! It's just so heartbreaking when my first ever ivf/icsi resulted in a pg which ended up in me being told at my first Nhs scan that my baby had died all 3 further cycles ended up in bfn. Good luck to you xxxxx |

| HI POPPY83, i think care have a policy that once a woman is 45 they will only let you cycle with DE, DE is not for me as i have children already (NOT IVF) me and DH not got any kids together. have still got some sperm in freezer so may try if im allowed another go at IUI just to get the sperm used up. i will phone clinic tomorrow to let them know the result and book telephone review had many reviews you get to know what they are going to say. good luck to all testing soon and sorry if not got what we are all hoping for. thanks again love bagpuss.x |

Hey bagpuss - sorry to hear your news. Sending a big hug XX Once you've licked your wounds and got your head together, maybe you might think again about donor eggs? They recommend it at 45 because it's so much more likely to work for you than your own eggs. If you already have your own genetic kids, then it would give you the family you want with your DH. This is the compromise my lovely hubby has made for me, after we found out there was some unassailable damage to his sperm. It wasn't what we originally wanted but now we're both really happy about the decision. Have a peep over at the egg donation or over 40s forums because there are lots of ladies who've gone this route and ended up really happy. I hope you find the right answer for you. XXX
Anita - again, I hope you find something that works for you. So sad when people get to the end of this journey but maybe don't rule anything out? Have you had any indication about why it hasn't worked for you? XX
Hey Wendy - sorry to hear that but while the tests are still positive there's still a chance. Am hoping and praying for you that this is a little blip. XXX |

Hi Lala
I've never managed to get any frosties so I have no idea how a frozen cycle works. Hope your review goes well and you are able to go forward with your next treatment really soon.

Yes me too Wendy. I'm guessing from seeing you post about Q10 on the general forum that things haven't worked out this time. I hope you are okay. Like Lala, I did think about emailing you but thought it might intrusive and you might not want to talk.
Thinking about you, hon xxx |

Ladies, sorry I stopped following the thread as I didn't want reminders of testing.
My instinct was right and i lost the baby. They will call it a biochemical pregnancy, but it was a miscarriage to me again and another loss. I'm afraid I've pretty much lost all positivity about having another baby, although I know how lucky I am to have my son.
I am going to have a review with the clinic on 13th APril and possibly do my final ever cycle May/June time, although I hold out no hope that it will work. I feel like it's a mechanical process just to get through.
Kim, I tried Leeds Screening Centre and they couldn't fit me in for 4 days for a blood test, which was too late, by then I knew I was losing the baby. Congrats on bfp for your IPs
thanks ladies and apologies. Hope you're all ok. Lala, hugs to you.
Nikival good news about your scan.

Hey Wendy
So sorry to hear that. I had guessed as much - my heart goes out to you. I can understand you not wanting to be reminded. I've been there, done that, for sure. Was just looking at some really old posts of mine from other threads and cycle buddies. It's really strange - I don't even remember writing half of them!
I can understand why you're feeling down about IVF. It's so hard picking yourself up from an early miscarriage. I've had two and it's a particularly cruel way for the treatment to fail because it gets your hopes up. On the plus side, you've never had a cycle when you didn't get a BFP, even tho a couple didn't last and, out of three cycles, you got your son. Seems to me that you should have a pretty positive prognosis going forward. Your body knows what to do. You're not likely to have immune problems because you have a live birth behind you. From what I remember, you're a year or so younger than me, so it's never going to be as easy for us slightly older ladies. Still, I think you have every chance of things working out based on your history.
Have you thought about trying IUI? Since you don't actually have a fertility problem yourself. I know that the odds look very stacked against us older ladies this route but I know a couple of ladies it worked for. The stats are poor for IUI mostly because it's mostly ladies who've been trying naturally for a long time and have, potentially, serious fertility issues and also because a lot of ladies move on to IVF after a couple of failed goes. But, actually, a lot of doctors say IUI has potentially better outcomes for older ladies as it doesn't stress the eggs so much.
From a personal perspective, I found IUI a lot less stressful and intrusive compared to IVF. It also doesn't feel like a 'one shot' moment, because you're not paying nearly as much per go. This might not be as important to you given you probably want to continue with the same donor as Theo but the waiting list for a donor for IUI was MUCH shorter than for IVF, which was what swayed our decision in the end.
Whatever you do next, I hope things work out for you.

Niki, only just noticed that your cycle didn't work out after all, so very sorry for you, it's horrible to have the hope and then to have it taken away from you. Big hugs. Hope you can find a way forward.
Wendy x
p.s. sorry I never replied to your post, I've been doing 14 hour days at work the last few weeks and with one thing and another I've just not had the time or energy to post or think about tx etc.
