Hi everyone - just a quick one cause I was off yesterday and the work has piled up!
Our scan was truly amazing - all the sickness and exhaustion I have felt for the last 5 weeks drained away when we saw our baby (almost 11 weeks now). He/ she even moved for us!!!
I feel so blessed.
Good luck everyone and still praying for all of you.

Hi lovely Ladies,
Baby Hobbit is doing okay, but today did not go as planned After waiting for nearly an hour and then being told my bladder was too full (some people are never happy LOL) it turns our that the consultant couldn't do the test because baby was too far down and she would have had to puncture my bowl to get to the placenta!!!!!!!!!!! now whilst I don't particularly want a punctured bowl and the implications that go with it, I'm a peeved that i now have to wait another 2 weeks which means I'll be 14 weeks for the test and 16 weeks for the results!!! Currently sulking and will pop back a bit later
(thank you for all your support though, fab!!)

Hi everyone,
Really lovely to catch up here again this evening and so sorry I have had such fleeting visits recently but life has been very hectic and have only just got back last night after a week away.
So much happens when you are away - its crazy!
I have added me in on your list of scan dates - hope that's ok. I am officially 12 weeks pregnant today so will be having my scan just short of 13 weeks next tuesday. I am actually a bit more nervous I think than excited as so scared there will be a problem. However, at the same time I am just dieing to hopefully see our baby.
Its going to be a big week with the scan on Tues and my 40th on Sunday (the latter of which I am not very happy about)!!
Hobbit - I can't believe your scan experience today - poor you, how disappointing.... I think I shall be really conscious now about not drinking too much - I thought the more liquid the better. Really hope the next 2 weeks goes as quickly as possible for you.
I saw lots of your posts about when to tell people about being pregnant and what to tell ...... personally I feel like I 'm happy for everyone to know I've had IVF but I think my hubbie would not like it if lots of people knew about our IVF journey. I guess because I'm going to be doing injections til the end I would quite like people to know that if I'm being a bit high maintenance its beause actually its not just a normal pregnancy but a really, really precious one!!
I finished my 4 pessaries a day experience tonight which I am mega excited about - I have had an enomous stomach for months now and so am hoping that I am going to perhaps go the other way and get back into my jeans which I haven't been able to wear for a couple of months because of extreme bloating. The GP said that the steroids haven't helped on that front either and I'm slowly coming off them from today too so hopefully the baby will be content enough to manage more independently and I will stop looking like I'm expecting twins!! One of my clients asked me at work last week if I wsa pregnant which I was totally shocked about - she said she had known 6 weeks ago!!
Well everyone, hope you are all doing well and sorry if this post was all a bit self centred.
lol, xx

| Good to hear from you Ruby. Like you, I can't wait to stop the pessaries and steroids, and hopefully look less bloated. I'm convinced people have spotted my rounded stomach at work already. Not much longer til our scan though so won't have to keep sucking in my stomach for much longer now!! |

| Good to hear from you Victoria . Also forgot to ask are people stopping folic acid at 12 weeks? The midwife never mentioned this to me but it says on my discharge summary from Care to stop at 12 weeks so I figured they would know best! Also does anyone know when you have to stop wearing underwired bras? Random question sorry ...but keep thinking of things that I want to ask you all! X |

Hi Steph
Sorry to hear your scan did not go as planned - as long as Baby Hobbit is ok that's what matters!
Vic and Ruby - I have stopped the pessaries but still looking "rounded" as can't stop eating! The multivitamin I take (contains folic acid) is safe to take throughout pregnancy and breast feeding so I plan to continue (bit of insurance that I'm getting all the nutrients I need). As for the bras, I would say wear whatever makes you feel comfortable.
Love

Hi Steph I agree with Helena as long as baby Hobbit is ok that is all that matters.
I too am taking multivitamin that my midwife recommended and was told to take it right the way through. I have also stopped wearing under wired bras as the midwife has told me that it can affect the milk producing glands she said either maternity bra or sports bras can be good for support.
I have a stinking cold at the moment and have not been in work much this week so feeling a little sorry for myself
Hope all are ok on this Friday 13th and have a good and relAxing weekend.
Take care all xxx |

Wow what a week - glad that is over! Such a lot has happened on here!
Hobbit - oh sorry that they couldn't get access to your placenta chick - are they hoping it will have moved slightly by 14 weeks? Anyway they can rush the results through for you cause of this? Saying that I'm sure everyone would want them mega urgently. Tanking of you can't be easy hey? But hope you got to see baby hobbit at the scan. As for too much urine in the bladder - you really can't win can you? They moan if it's too empty or too full!
Good to hear from you too ruby. I think I may treat myself to a couple of new bras - I'm only a petite person in the boobie department so am quite enjoying it at the minute and for a change don't need padding! My sis in law said she got her maternity bras from next as they still looked remotely good with a bit of pretty lace and not like an old grannies bra! I'm taking the pregnacare vits too and my midwife said to take them to term particularly because of the vitamin d in them. Guess the old iron intake can't hurt either.
Wanna - boo to having a stinking cold. Not much fun. Make sure you a looking after yourself. Glad you've taken some time off work whilst you get better.
Helena - great you saw your little foetus (I'm struggling to say the word 'baby'!) moving and wriggling. Hope you get your 12 week scan date soon. Hope you are feeling ok
Victoria - I too can't wait to stop my pessaries next week - did you guys get told just to stop them, or maybe reduce them for a few days first? Seems a bit harsh to stop tabs/pessaries all in one go! I'd love to see if my bloating will go down or if actually now it's not just the pessaries but something to do with an enlarging wombie too?! No one at work noticed mine yet but I'm sure they are all looking as they know I'm preggers!
I have changed our nuchal scan date - after doing some research we have chosen to have a private scan. Part of my reasoning is we are lucky to have been nhs funded so have not like some of you guys had to spend a huge amount of cash to date on this, so figure what is £170? Mainly because they will take a longer time with you and I can send them my bloods before so on the day we get all of the results there and then. I faffed around trying to decide what to do and looked at the stats. I think I decided I would just enjoy it more there, but then will be back to the nhs level for everything else. I do think it's hard stepping down from the dizzy heights of the care clinic and waiting room, scanners and staff!! But hey ho! As far as they are concerned us ivf mothers are just like any other 'normal' pregnant woman (yer right.....we are super special and they know it!)
Anyone got anything good planned this weekend? I'm off down to the posh south to visit my old best buds from when I was 9yrs old. Got a christening to go to which will be a good chance to see them and all their babies. And for a change I will be able to have a grin knowing I've got one in my wombie making itself a nice home for the next 6 months!
Have a good one girls
Ruby you are up next for your scan. Exciting times!
Lots of love
JEP

Hello everyone,
Hope you are all doing well and that the weekend was a good one!
Thanks for all your advice re bras and folic acid! Well, I have been off the pessaries since last thursday and no change to my tummy!! still very round and protruding and seems to be atrracting a bit too much attention for this stage!!
As I have my scan tomorrow ( 2 days short of 13 weeks) I am thinking maybe i will tell the remainder of people at work about my pregnancy (all being well that is!!) and my big boss! Can't wait!!
Have people had any thoughts about maternity leave yet?? I am thinking given how long I've wanted this baby I would like to be off for the max amount of time possible and am thinking a year if possible.... we shall have to see though..
Anyone started any exercise yet?? I have been doing an odd swim and am trying to gear myself up to go before work tomorrow am. I also did a gym session on saturday for the first time in months - I nearly died. ... even though it was just some cycling, fast walking and a bit of cross trainer!! I'm wondering about doing a bit of pilates or yoga because I''m so un-flexible but not sure which would be better ?? Any ideas?? Love to you all, and Nikki, we are all thinking about you and behind you 100% for your next cycle xxx |

Ruby
Good luck for your scan today 13 weeks - wow!!fingers crossed! Laughed about your tummy - think the same thing will happen to me and. It will not 'go down' when the pessaries stop. But hey - that's what we want really isn't it - a preggers belly so bring it on! I'm going to invest in a waistband extender type thingy soon as struggling a bit with work trousers. Feel it's too early to go mat clothes shopping though! Although may get excited after our scan on Saturday! As for mat leave I only get 6 months in my contract but have the option of unpaid after that. To be fair i think 6months will be fine for me as I may reduce my hours at work anyway after I go back. It's all a bit early to think about this stuff isn't it? But time will fly and then it will be upon us! I'm going to try and get a DVD from my sis in law - a Davina exercise one for pregnant ladies. Will see if that can help tone my wobbling legs and bum! I hate swimming otherwise I'd do that. Not looked into yoga and Pilates for pregnancy though...might be some Internet research going on this weekend!
Hope everyone else cruising along! Anyone else getting tight. Clothes? Anyone been shopping yet? I defo need bras to be sorted soon as ouch! Bit sore & small. Can't believe I soon will be going into shops like mother are! Never been in there in all my life! Hahaha
Right time to get up - pessaries are 'cooked' and the day has begun
Speak soon
Love
JEP

Hi everyone!
Been catching up reading evreryone's posts.
Nice to hear from you niki, glad to hear you have ur next plan in action, wishing you tonnes of luck! x
Hope the scan went well today ruby.
I'm very jealous of everyone actually being given a 12 week scan...i will be 12 wks on friday yet after days of chasing, i've just been informed mine has been made for 8th may by which time i'll be 14 and a half weeks!! I've pleaded with the midwife that ive got my bro's wedding to go to on the 28th april and am desperate to have it before then so she said she can ask, i'm not holding my breath though!! I desperately want to tell my son, but am terrified to do it before the scan as a 6 yr old who has longed for a baby bro or sis would not understand if the worst happened!! Really want to pay for Care to do it but my boyfriend says we're not shelling out more.
Btw JEP, have gone for The General, the parking swayed it lol. Kind of wishing i'd chosen LRI now, perhaps they'd be a bit quicker!!
Anyway rant over, hope everyone else is doing well xxx |

Glad scan went well ruby - bet it was amazing!!
Poppy - we may be seeing each other at the general then?! It was the parking for us too! Plus my neighbour was there with her premature baby & said she was happy with the care he got so that's got to be something! A nightmare you are having to wait til after 14 weeks. Did you want the nuchal scan to be done cause that is too late for it to be done. They would offer you a triple or quadruple blood test instead. I guess it depends how important that is for you but I'd be kicking off!! My advice if you feel this is important is.... I rang the maternity reception at the LGH. Got put through to the antenatal scanning dept. there was a voice message prompt and if you waited they put you through to speak to someone. She was a lovely lady and was v understanding. Why don't you ring say you're worried about the dates being too late and can they squeeze you in? Or ring you if they get a cancellation appt? There are 2 clinics in Leicester that offer private scans for nuchal. Babybond - east gate On humberstone gate is one - does them for £180 and at the Nuffield Ian scudamore does them for £210. Have you heard of him? He is the consultant who works at LGH does infertility stuff but runs the CARe satellite clinic at Nuffield in Leicester. I could not see him via care as being nhs funded they refused and I had to go to notts. Cause the nuchal is important to me that's why I'm going privately anyway, but I know it's a very individual choice. Also I wanted it before my mums bday so I can tell my 83yr old grandma whilst we are all together!! I don't think our individual community midwives have anything they can really do about the scan dates though. Good luck with that!! Are you well otherwise?? You need to add you stuff to our list below so we know where you are at!
How is everyone else? I had quite a lot of pains yesterday - same old thoughts about 'is it wind, do I need a poo, is it my wombie stretching?' can't wait for Saturday just to see flump again and check everything is still going well. A the weekend one of my best friends gave me a maternity dress I could wear to work - shed never worn it but from 'Jo Jo maman bebe' so a nice one - with 'feeding holes' too!! I really laughed at those!! Think I'll be looking on their website for work maternity clothes as it sounds as if they are not really expensive but smart for work. Any other tips from you girls with babies already?
How are you twinnies doing? Started your buggy poll yet?! Hobbit - when is your next cvs date? You need to update the list too!
Ok better get going
Lots of love to you all

Hi Ruby, so glad your scan went so well! How excitingx I definitely want to take the max maternity leave - I have waited a long time to be a mum so want to enjoy every minute. Trying to come up with a way to not return to work actually!
Poppy, I don't have my date for my 12 week scan yet either. Anyway imagine how much you'll see at 14 & a half weeks? I saw my GP yesterday who said the hospital should be able to squeeze me in. Not even sure who I would chase for the appointment - would it be my surgery or the hospital? (GP said they fax the request so it may be "out of their hands").
JEP - I know what you mean about the "windy feelings" and tweeks, I'm getting a few of those. Still getting nausea, seems to have a eased a tiny bit though. I'm almost 12 weeks & have been told it should improve. Can't wait, it's really debilitating some days!
Lots of love and luck to all

Hi guys
So glad to hear all is well with yourr baby Ruby, can imagine you are feeling on top of the world now!
Helena, i didnt know who to chase so i ended up chasing everyone until the midwife finally called me back and took charge lol.
Jep, i saw mr scudamore for my treatment, he was such a nice bloke!! But, actually, the midwife called me today and has managed to get me an emergency scan for tomorrow morn at LRI! It wont be a proper detailed one, just a reassurance but i'll take that! Then The General called me and said they've moved my scan to 1st of may as 8th was too late. So all is well afterall!!
I dont think i'm going to have the downs thing...is that what the nuchal scan is? Not very good with technical terminology! I'm 28 and although i know it can happen to a woman of any age i think i'll just leave it. I dont want to have to face all the decisions etc should it come back high risk,.. It's so difficult but think we're going to go with our guts on this one!
Speaking of guts i'm also getting the tummy pains and panicked myself the other night as had excruciating pain...turned out to be a call of nature after a week of being constipated lol. (sorry)
Am defo needing to get some new workwear, not sure i'll be rocking the feeding holes though haha

Hi ladies
Ruby glad your scan went well so exciting can't wait for mine a week today can't come quick enough.
Poppy glad you got to get a scan tomorrow good luck and glad you got your official 12 week moved forward.
Helena I would chase your midwife as she will be able to chase it up for you.
I have had loads of pains and tweaks so glad everyone else is much more reassuring to know we are all going through the same. I am also needing to invest in some work ware but not complaining. My sickness has subsided now but still very tired all the time. I stop the pessaries today yay!! So I am hoping that will help.
Good wishes sent to all for coming scans xxx |

Hi everyone
Just been typing an update to catch up with everyone and then lost it all! Don't have the patience now to start from scratch so sorry for lack of personals ladies
Got the 12wk scan tomorrow - can't believe its finally here. Feeling 95% positive but think there'll always be that 5% for nerves before any scan given what its taken to get here
Glad to hear everyone else has had good scans or being successful with chasing up appointments etc. I too have been having twinges and little pains again recently but feeling reasonably content that its just my womb stretching.
Wish me luck for tomorrow
Vic xx |
