Oh ruby - poor you for getting all those headaches! Bugger! I've had daily headaches this week but relatively mild compared to what yours sound like. I've blamed my hayfever, new painted office, not drinking enough etc etc. got quite a lot of tension in my neck & shoulders so got a friend who is a physio to do some deep muscle release which helped but was bloomin sore! Great you got to hear the heartbeat - wonderful!

I've heard of other pregnancies due to ivf/ICSI being labelled high risk so maybe it's not just the twinnies that get followed more? Seeing my mw next week so will ask her then & see what she says.

Hope the rest of us mummies are ok. I'm not feeling a yummy mummy with spots and nails brittle & my hair falling out, but keep just thinking as long as I keep making a nice house for flump that's all that matters!

Hobbit - any news on baby hobbit yet?

How are the twinnies doing? Big tummies yet?!

Helena and poppy hope you are both ok too.

Enjoy the weekend girlies
Xxx

Hello ladies

Sorry I have not been on here in a while just been so tired after work lately. My tum feels huge and getting regular comments at work. I too am having more regular scans but was told that was due to twins. I feel that the more care we get the better whatever the reason.

I now have 2 whole weeks off work and really feel like I need it just shattered all the time but it will be worth it in the end. I too have had a few headaches but nothing as severe as you Ruby hope it gets better soon. Has anyone started shopping yet? I went to kiddiecare last weekend just to have a look and came out even more confused about pushchairs. Too much choice but for twins it seems so difficult so no nearer with that one.

Glad you are all doing ok and I will try not to leave it so long next time. Take care and have good weekend xx

HI Jep and Wanna,
Just a quick one before rushing off to London for the weekend!
Sorry to hear you are not feeling good in yourself jep - hopefully the skin thing will clear quickly - mine really broke out a few weeks ago but only lasted a couple of weeks so hopefully yours will be similar. sorry to hear you are having headaches too - i have read that they can be common in pregnancy ! Great!
Wanna - sounds like you too are struggliing with the tiredenss too - sorry to hear that. Thanks for letting me know about your regular scans too. As for shopping - do you know if you are a member of Tamba (twin support group I think) you get lots of discounts . My friend who is pregnant with twins says she gets 20% off at Jo Jo maman bebe for example. Sounds good!!

Enjoy the sunshine everyone over the weekend and have lots of rest xx

Hi everyone!

Late night waiting for hubby to get home! Just thought id have a quick check on here

Ruby - I feel for u with the headaches. I had only a wk of them and that was bad enough. There are so many potential causes so I just did a bit of everything - drank more water, had more rest and slowed down a bit. Could have been totally unrelated but seemed to help.

Regarding your extra scans - I read in the paper this wk that there is a higher incidence of birth defects with ICSI than standard IVF. Not trying to scare u but this is probably why your doc wants to do extra monitoring. The risk is still extremely low but just marginally higher. It's basically due to ICSI bypassing 'natural selection' as they choose the sperm they think looks best, rather than nature making the choice, which I'm sure u already knew. Anyway, there's no reason to think u will have problems but the doc is prob just more aware because its recently been in the news. Try not to worry to much, its just a precaution.

This whole thing is a real rollercoaster of worry isn't it! We had our Downs test results recently and both are classed as low risk but one baby did have a much higher risk than the other as i suspected, so the worry isn't entirely gone. Can only wait and see now but just going to be positive!

I've got the inlaws helping with decorating at the moment and its driving me mad! House is upside down and I can't get a look in either! Will be glad when its all done just so I can get my house back!

Anyway enough of me bleating - goodnight x

Hey ladies

Wanna - not surprised you are shattered - you've got double trouble in there going on - double the pressure on your body - are you still taking the pregnancy vitamins etc to make sure you are getting everything you need and iron etc. you'll be more at risk of anaemia won't you? If you're not a veggie get a bloomin good steak down you every now & then. I much prefer this way to eating spinach!! Hope things start to perk up for you soon. Enjoy your time off work - gives you a real chance to chil out. I don't envy you the double push chair thing at all - single buggies look v confusing let alone doubles!

Hey ruby - you've given me hope my skin won't be this shite for the whole pregnancy! Thanks!! I probably just need to make sure I give more time to myself - and look after my skin better. I must admit I don't always clean my face that second time a day - the before bed bit is hard as I'm shattered and being lazy. That with flossing, month washing, oiling my skin...I need a half an hour extra to do all this stuff before I get under the covers!! Hope you had a good wend in London.

Victoria - id read the stuff last week about ICSI with interest and have to say am not getting over excited about it. You're right the risk is small and infact seems to disappear if a frozen ICSI embie is used. But like you say if they want to scan more and watch us more - I'm not going to argue about it! Haha. Good that your downs risks both low - but you are right sods law one would be worse than the other. I think you are right to keep positive and they will be keeping a good eye on them both.

Hobbit - any idea when the final results will be back fr you? It must be a nerve wracking time. Big fingers crossed x

I'm going to have to go tobootstoday and get some eye drops for this hayfever then will ask my mw about tabs on threes when I see her. Woken up all snuggly and watery irritated eyes despite using my nose spray daily for the last 4-6 weeks. I know there is a fine balance & I'd only want to take the tabs if my symptoms are bad enough but think they are not far off. It's hard to concentrate and last night I did 9 sneezes in a row. I've read now that 15+wks the foetus responds to what the mummy does eg if have a bigg laugh, or if the dog barks etc. goodness only knows what flump was doing last might through those?! Somersaults I think! Haha. Can't wait to start feeling it all going on!

Ok ladies, butter drag myself up
Have a good day
Lots of love
JEP

Hi ladies,

Lovely to be back on here and to hear all your news. Vic - I hope you are getting your house sorted as that must be horrible to have going on what with being where we are with our pregnancies!!
Wanna - I hope you are getting lots of rest and enjoy your time off - you will feel so much better for it.
Jep - hope your symptoms are subsiding a bit - 9 sneezes in a row sounds awful... poor you.

ell, my main news is that I went to London at the weekend and checked out the Gap Flagship Store my friend recommended in Oxford Street..... It had the most fantastic maternity section, with really lovely staff. The place was half deserted and I can honestly say I have never bought so many clothes at one time!! Its just been so hard to find anything locally that I went a bit crazy getting lots of work stuff and some casual stuff too. I can highly recommend it! Today at work was so much more comfortable!!

love to you all, x

Hi ladies, reading your posts with much interest, glad to hear babies are all ok Smile At long last we have our 20 week scan date:- 18 June! Exciting!

JEP please don't worry about the "ICSI news" - there are lots and lots of perfectly healthy, normal ICSI babies out there, I hate the media!!!

Definitely will be looking at maternity clothes soon - nothing fits me anymore!

Can't wait to hear news of the first baby flutters being felt (my friend says she felt it first when she was lying in the bath)..... I am willing my little one to make his/ her presence felt!

Much love
H xx

Hey guys

How's things? Anyone felt any movements yet? I keep waking up 4-5am with pains -think its mainly cause I need a big peee but then I wake up in my brain - been on iPad since 5.30 today! Hoping may have a little power nap again now though! Then I lie there with my hands on my wombie which feels rock hard at times - wondered if that is what happens when the little monster wriggles?

Ruby - your shopping trip in gap sounds wonderful! I've got a few things from there and agree its so nice to wear comfy stuff to work. Our gap in Leicester has about 2 rails though so would have been I awe I. That flagship store? Wicked!! I worse a maternity shirt to work yesterday - they laughed at me saying it looked like it was a size too big - but I can't be buying clothes for now, then clothes for later on! Got a couple of wrap tops so I need to teach myself how to tie them! They will be brill as can expand when needed!

Helena - cant believe you are still just in normal clothes - saying that it does sound variable doesn't it and I'm shocked how much in a day it can vary. It's all the food I keep eating isn't it?!!

Hey vic and wanna - how are you two twinnies doing? I bet you are both tired and quite stretched already in the tummy department? Make sure you special ladies are looking after yourself!

Hobbit - not heard from you in a while - where are you at? Have you got your amino results. I'm trying not to worry Aout them being the cause of your silence. Please let us know how you are

Poppy - how's things for you fellow Leicester lady? You busy with your dd and being preggers again - it must be harder work when you have to think about and sort them out too? I'm thinking about ringing to sort some antenatal yoga stuff - tried a few times but no answer. Also heard It can help get you relaxed and in 'the zone' for delivery. Am starting to panic about delivery although I know that's stupid and have given myself a talking to saying I don't need to worry Aout that til way after 20 week scan. Spoke to a lady the other day who'd had her 3rd baby. She said labour ward so busy there were no staff so no epidurals allowed and loads of women screaming in agony?? Oh bloody hell.........no wonder she was out of there in a few hours!

Otherwise I'm enjoying being preggers a bit now!

Going on hols next week so only a few days at work then down to the new forest for a week of chilling out and doggy walks. DH taking his windsurfing kit so hell be a happy boy if he gets out on the water a few times. I can sit and read trashy magazines etc! Bliss!!

Lots of love to you all and bumps
X

Aaawww hobbit - lovely that little baby hobbit been able to communicate with you by wriggling and playing in his little wate pool!! Can't wait to feel ours move......so many thing we impatient lot can't wait for hey?

How's everyone else doing?
I had my mw appt today. Didn't really do much really told me my blood results (except one not come back for some reason) dipped my weeeee and did my bp. Didn't listen in to flumps heart beat which I thought she would (didn't tell her I'd borrowed our neighbours Doppler and had listened the night before Wink ) and then wants to see me at 25 weeks. Got 20 w scan and consultant appt before then and in the meantime I guess we just 'crack on'!!!

I'm going away tomorrow (when I can drag myself away from work that is) so will be without wifi - will pop on to have a sneaky peek but probably won't post often (which is unusual for me!) so think of me as I laze around and walk on the beach and in the new forsest - tell you what - I feel ready for a break after the kast few months!!

Sorry for the me me me post
Hello to fellow October - November 12 babies - get practising those kicks and summers adults so we can feel you!!!
Love JEP

Hi everyone,

Just been enjoying a good catch up read! I only ever seem to have time to go on here on my piddling phone screen whilst my son is in the bath!!

Anyway, sorry to hear about all the spots and headaches, they will pass i promise. I seem to have escaped the spots this time so far, but am also getting headaches. I know everyone always bangs on about it but water does help!!

Ruby i am so jealous, struggling to find any clothes i like that dont make me look a frump. Either that or they are way too expensive for me to justify a few months wear! Oh... No wonder london folk are so smug all the time ha.

Jep, all is good ta. General was fine yup...am actually starting to feel a bit relieved ive favoured it over LRI after seeing in the news what happened there last week. I dont even know why im surprised, my dad was in there with a brain tumour and got treated dreadfully thinking back on it. They are just overworked and under staffed....anyhow, back at the general for my 20wk scan. On 12th june! I declined the nuchal and starting to worry as the baby is ahead of the dates that should correspong with my embryp transfer, though probably reading too much in. The midwife was a bit confused by it tho which worried me!!
What's your appoint, ent with mr scudamore for in july? Is it the standard one they give u when youve had ivf? If so, mines with someone else! Never mind.

Hobbit how cool you've felt a kick! Ive felt a few little jostles whilst ive been in bed but never quite sure if it's wind or not lol.

Hope everyone else is well, helena, victoria, wanna. Know ive missed someone but my memory is terrible at the mo...

Oh yeah, if anyone is feeling stupid with baby brain...get this...
I got out my car the other day, walked to my front door...something told me to look round...and when i did my car was rolling down the street! I had to drop everything and run like a mad cow down my street after the darn thing, throw myself in the drivers door, knocking off my kneecap and practically crippling myself in the meatime...and managed to finally stop the car about 4cms away from my neighbours car...not only had i not left it in gear as i normally do, i'd neglected to put the handbrake on too... Not my finest hour. My mother and son were watching the whole event thru the window...and of course you can imagine the relish my dear child had telling daddy all about it when he got home from work!!

Hello ladies - love the car story Poppy - had a good giggle!

I had my appointment with the consultant at our local hospital today - after waiting an hour and a half to see him for 5 minutes! He wants me to have a "Uterine artery doppler" scan at 23 weeks - in very basic terms, this assesses the "blood flow" in the womb (from placenta to baby). Anyway I'm in good shape (no problems with bloods, urine etc) but like he says he would like to treat me like a "VIP" purely because we're an IVF baby Smile

Other than that I feel pretty good & enjoying being pregnant at last ! Got a proper pregnancy bump and have a few maternity clothing bits now.

Hope you are all enjoying your beautiful growing bellies!

Love
H xx

Hi guys
Poppy - your car story made me chuckle too - thank goodness it didn't have a worse outcome though! You've have been so fed up if you'd have needed car repairs done hey?! Yes my baby brain is getting me from time to time. Especially of I'm thinking too fast and it seems there's a bit of Mis-wiring somewhere! Hehe! I was under mr scudamore on the nhs. Well.... Saw him once then decided to use care not Leicester so never saw him again. Not sure if that is why they've put us under him or not. I know we may not end up seeing him anyway...and will probably wait for hours for him to be a grumpy old bugger like he was last time! Still...who knows what way the wind will be blowing that day?!
Helena - I love the fact your consultant says you're a VIP. Think that is lovely. Interesting about the Doppler of the artery. I'd heard about that especially if concerns about growth Interesting....seems everyone gets a different range of things offered to them on the nhs hey? Still going to accept whatever we are offered!
Managed to find some shorts in h&m that fit to be able to enjoy this weather a bit whilst we are away - denim cut off ones and they are quite nice even if big maternity ones!
Had a cheeky look at buggies in John Lewis the other day - wow what a mind field!! Going to try notto think Bout. That til after the 20w scan then will need to get thinking.....must admit I'm quizzing friends on theirs and looking at what I see about. I figure that's an important choice as will be using it til they are about 3?

How's everyone else?
Wanna - are you still feeling v tired with your twinnies? And what about you Victoria?
Hobbit - have you got final results yet? Keeping all digits crossed for you chick.
Ruby - how's things with you and your babe?

Anyone else felt any movements yet? Keep having a feel - Especially on bed. Every now and then my womb feels like it goes rock hard. Wonder if flump is doing a somersault?! Haha.

Lots of love to you all

Had a bit of a "scare" yesterday. In the morning I woke up to "spotting" (Dread!). Luckily I got an immediate GP appointment and she referred me immediately to the gynie at our local hospital. Must say the NHS were brilliant yesterday. A quick scan and examination revealed that baby (strong heartbeat Smile and womb/ cervix etc are fine. I have a cervical polyps so he believes that may be the cause or possibly a low lying placenta but this will only be revealed at the 20 week scan (if its an issue).

I cried (sobbed!) with relief but now I feel so scared. I know baby is fine and the spotting is already lightening off and it's very dark brown (which I know indicates "old" blood) but every time I go to the loo I wonder what is awaiting me!

I will never take this baby for granted but yesterday was another wake-up call (if we needed one?) to be super careful etc

love
H xx

Hi everyone sorry not been on for a while ......... Have been in the wars a bit!
Had soar tummy at work last week on Thursday but figured was probably just my trousers being tight!
Next morning started getting v bad pain in my tummy on right side and started vomiting.
Managed to see gp within two hours - straight to a and e and was then in hospital for 4 days!! Bit of a shocker . Thought initially was my appendix but think insteasd was a big fibroid which either started bleeding on itself ( or something) or twisting. Either way the pain at times was indescribable. Sadly nothing can be done because of baby which is probably pressing on it! Lots of painkillers and it may or may not cause pro problems again in pregnancy. The consultant seemed to think it was likely to recur. Have been home since mon eve this week trying to do nothing which seems to help! So not massively enjoying pregnancy at the moment !!
So lovely to hear all your news what with baby movements, car calamities etc!! Hope you all get to enjoy the gorgeous sunshine over the weekend and will be in touch again soon xx

Hey guys
Woooooowweeeeeee hobbit - amazing news for you! I hope there is light at the end of the tunnel with the rest of your stresses - don't worry about not being a good buddy. All of us are busy and you have far more stress to be sorting than all of us out together so just pop on when you can to say hiya!

How are our two poorly mummies - Helena and ruby - been thinking of you both.

Well antenatal yoga was interesting.... Most of the others were 28-39 weeks so I fell bit slim (!). I can see it would be a good thing to do and I actually realise I find some of the breathing difficult. The instructor changes the content every week and the next one I can go to is a specific labour one talking through using positions and breathing etc.....omg - makes it seem a bit more real. Did have a chuckle to myself when she showed us some breathing - one you 'hummmmm' on the way out, one you sound like darth vader, one you suck air in over your tongue like a lizard! So will see how it goes. Was told I may sleep better afterwards as a lot of the girls do but no real change for me unfortunately. As I lay awake at 4am after a weeeeee, trying to ignore the chorus of birds singing outside my window I felt flump move properly for the first time! I wasn't sure before - always blaming wind etc, but this was definite. My womb went all firm and squirmed like a snake and moved from the left side of my tummy to the right. Lasted about 5 seconds. Was weird but lovely. DH gutted I didn't wake him to feel it, but apart from the fact it was over before I knew it, can't imagine he'd have been chuffed for me to wake him at that time, when our wake up alarm goes off at 6am!

Everyone else getting movements? If Iremember right I think I'm the last one in the group aren't i? Or am I thinking that cause you twinnies ladies will probably not go to term? Can't remember quite right, but anyway - I figure you guys probably been feeling for some time? My placenta is at the front too so think that will mean I feel less movements?

Going to try antenatal splashing type stuff on Saturday - I hate swimming but am told its more bouncing around in the water and is quite good fun. Can't keep my newly enlarged bum cheeks inside my bikin bottoms as well as before but I'm refusing to buy another. Costume until I know if I will like it and go again!

Right better drag myself up - day off today so had a cheeky lie in and now feel guilty!

Lots of love
JEP
X

Amazing you've felt Flump move, JEP! If I've felt our Beany move I've not been that conscious of it - I keep hoping it will feel "different" to all the other movements I've felt (eg wind, popping, tweeks) so your story is encouraging!

Spotting has virtually gone completely now and feeling pretty well overall. Gynie assured me baby is absolutely fine so I'm humming and talking to baby to make sure s/he knows that s/he is soooo wanted and is not allowed to go anywhere!

love,
H xx

Hi guys,
HOpe you are all doing well.
Well, I saw my obstetrician on Monday am and he has signed me off work for a further 2 weeks - I will have had 3 weeks in total off work if I go back in a couple of weeks time! Feel really bad missins so much work but at the same time don't really feel fit enough for it at the moment. If I walk for more than a couple of mins the pain in my tummy returns so its lots of sitting in the garden for me !!
I know I should be ecstatic about all the time off work, but instead am worrying about the baby. The obstetrician mentioned starting me on the some steroids potentially when I see him next at 24 weeks but he was rushing so I didn't felt I couldnt ask quetions.
I have subsequently read on the internet that with the problem I have (Fibroid degeneration) if it recurs it could start contractions because of the pain, so the steroids would be a precaution to develop the baby's lungs in case I have a premature birth. Whatever next!! I know I need to stay postive but its really hard not to worry.
Also, I haven't felt the baby move at all - I will be 19 weeks tomorrow - please goodness I will feel it very soon! I even got my husband to listen with his stethoscope (he's a dr) but he couldn't hear anything !!

Helena - I'm so pleased you are feeling better and the nasty spotting has stopped. What a relief. I laughed at myself this am after a sheer moment of panic as thought I saw blood on the toilet paper - but instead it was linked to beetroot I had eaten yesterday!! Sorry, probably too much info!!

Jep - good to hear you have started yoga - I'm due to start it in a couple of weeks so interesting to hear what you get up to!! I think I will struggle not to laugh with all the wacky breathing!!

Hobbit - sorry to hear things have been tough recenlty - hope you are looking after yourself and wonderful news that you are having a little boy. Wow!

Love to everyone else and will be in touch again soon, x

Ruby - don't worry if you haven't felt baby yet - for 1st time mums it's anything between 16 and 25 weeks before you feel the flutters....
