Hello
This is going to sound ridiculous but I just realised this morning that I have been taking fish oil supplements (not cod liver) alongside having clexane injections - both of these things are blood thinning. I haven't taken the fish oils every day but probably most days since ET. I am not taking aspirin at the moment.
I called the clinic to tell them (because I'm worried about the impact on my embryos if my blood is too thin). The nurse advised I stop taking fish oil and when i asked if this may already have had an adverse effect on the embryos she said the doctor would need to answer that. Then she said she will check with the doctor and if there is any problem she'll let me know. Of course if there has been an adverse impact there is nothing I can do about it now (stopped taking the fish oils about 2 days ago) and then the nurse goes on to say the "thinner the blood the better" - so surely that means I have nothing to worry about?
All I wanted is some reassurance and I didn't really get that and now all I feel like doing is bursting into tears (which would not be a good idea because I'm at work)
Can anyone tell me I'm worrying unnecessarily? This is so silly, women all over the world smoke and drink and do all sorts of things when they don't even know they are pregnant and their babies are fine!
thanks everyone

Hi Helena
Just a quick one to say that I don't think you need to worry about it adversely affecting the chances of getting pregnant. As the nurse says, the thinner your blood the better so that it won't form clots around the baby if you're an immunie. It's more that you need to stop taking both so that you don't have problems if you're in an accident or anything like that, with bleeding too much. So it's for your safety rather than for the sake of your treatment. That's my understand, anyway, although I'm not an expert.
Good luck!

I've done a bit of reading and that's my understanding as well (easy bruising, excessive bleeding like in operations etc). I'm sure I'm worrying unnecessarily. I think IVF makes me find things to worry about
Thanks Niki and I hope you are feeling ok and that embie is stuck fast with superglue!

Hi Niki, I am testing on Sat (if I don't self-combust before then
Thanks Peachy, wish I read your post last night because I managed to get myself into a bit of a flap about this (I know it's silly!!!) I'm so terrified of doing something wrong and do tend to beat myself up about stuff (much to my DH's dismay!) Wanted to say my heart goes out to you, I always keep ladies who have gone through these things in my prayers.

Thank you - don't what I'd do without the reassurances I get on this forum!
I am testing on Sat but will actually be at a Bed & Breakfast in York on that day! (didn't plan it, it's just worked out that way). So will fill you all in on the outcome on Monday!
Best of luck to the rest of the "testers".
