Hi
My OH and I went to an open evening at Care Northampton this week and was impressed with them that we have decided to have our funded cycle with them
We completed our IVF ICSI paperwork the day after the open evening and currently awaiting our first appointment from Care
We are nervous but excited at what is likely to happen over the next few months and cant wait to get started.
We have been trying to conceive for 14 months. I have low progesterone but I responded well to Clomid, my OH on the other had has low sperm count and poor motility
It would be great to get to know other people who may be experiencing similar things and/or waiting to go to your first consultation. If you have already had your first consultation, how did you find it?
Chat soon I hope

Hi STBM,
First consultation is very exciting as you're taking a really proactive step. Usual consultant at N'ton is Ranhuma and she's absolutely lovely. Go armed with your questions written down and then grill OH for the answers she gave you when you leave as there's so much information to take in, I usually struggle to absorb it all and he picks up on what I've missed. Waiting times haven't been too bad for us, so hopefully the time will fly for you.
Prepare for first drugs delivery. Box it arrives in is massive, but only as it holds an injection solution that needs to go in the fridge, so is refridgeration packed. Injection training blows your mind, but it's really nowhere near as bad as it sounds.
Hope you find some girls around the same stage as you and best of luck with Northampton. You'll get on fine x |

Hi STBM,
You might find your appointment is with Ken Dowell who has an interest in male subfertility He was great but his handwriting was appalling! Worse than mine which is saying a lot...
Good luck for your cycle
Love Noggin xx
PS Hi Melski goos to see you're cycling again |

Thank you for the advice, yes I think I will definately go ready with lots of questions. I have so many whizzing around my head.
I do retain information really well which is good and its my OH who come away asking ' what did they say after....???' lol.
Thanks again. |

Hi
You'll be fine, they are all really lovely at Northampton.
I can't fault them one little bit.
Don't be afraid to call them at any time if you forget anything. They are all much more helpful than any of the people I've seen in the NHS. |

Hey Noggin, when is your OTD? I couldn't find it when I was looking yesterday but reckon it's pretty soon...
Think I read somewhere that Ken Dowell had gone...? |

Hi Melski OTD sunday but we've told friends and family valentines day.
Ken Dowell did my EC. I wonder if he's gone where he's gone to...?

| I remember now, you trickster. Well all the best for Sunday, only 3 more get ups! I might have it wrong about Ken Dowell then, perhaps it was another male consultant. I've only ever seen Ranhuma, so was surprised to even hear another consultant's name! x |

| Hi Hope and welcome. There's a thread further down on the Cycle Buddies page called 'IVF/ICSI Feb/Mar' where you should find lots of girls around the same stage as you to talk to. Good luck with your first (and hopefully only!) cycle x |

Hiya
I am about to start injecting Suprecur. I found CARE Northampton are great and no question is silly or irrelevant for them. Felt at ease at our first consultation. We never attended an open evening as I was very near to losing out on my funding (due to age and delays with GP / Hosp Consultant with referral) but they have been so informative I don't feel we have missed out by not attending.
Good luck!
C xx |
