Hi, just wondered if anyone has suffered with anxiety/depression through all of this to the point where all the issues and uncertainty affects your daily life and puts your relationship at risk. Why is it that DP/DH cannot totally understand and just behave like typical men!!!
Difficult to chat to family or friends who are not in this position.
Anyone else in the same boat? |

Lauriecharlie,
Did not want to read n run, sending you a big hug ivf is very hard and it deffinatley tests your relationship but you have both got to be strong together, maybe have some time out together, have a nice holiday, just have some time for you 2 we had just over 1 year off ivf, my husbands idea, i wasnt so keen because i just wanted to carry on but i was depressed n hated being round babies, children n pregnant ladies but i can now say it was the best thing we did and i am now 8 weeks pregnant with twins i wish you all the best and hope my words can be a little bit encouraging to you xxxx |

As Em has already said, IVF is very hard and unless people have gone through it firends and family cannot fully understand how you feel no matter how sympathetic they are.
I also think that men handle the challenge quite differently to women. I think we show our emotions more readlily and our husbands tend to keep thier feelings to themselves. This sometimes comes across as them not understanding but I think it's just thier way of dealing with it. Also, I think men are more accepting of infertility and can see a life without children whereas women let it become all consuming and think about it everyday. I do think that it is tougher socially for women as well, for instance if your friends all have children then that will dominate the conversation when you go out, whereas men won't talk about children even if they have them.
You need to talk to your husband about how you are feeling if you haven't already, and spend some time doing the kind of things your friends with kids can't do. e.g. a last minute city break?
Also, remember that things can change very quickly in the world of IVF. The fact that you are posting on the immunology forum makes me think that you are having immune investigations/tests which could well be the change in fortune that is due. Look at all of the gilrs on here that have had success and gorgeous little babies after an immune cycle/s following years on unsuccessful IVFs.
Try to keep postivie. Trust me I know how hard it is to keep positive sometimes but you have to try otherwise it can all get on top of you.
All the very best of luck x x x x x |

Hi honey,
I experienced a high level of anxiety in the later years of treatment- I found acupuncture and massage helped a bit.
Also there is a Care leaflet re how men and women can experience IVF emotionally differently - have you seen it? DH and I found it helpful.
You have a very similar treatment history to me honey- m/c and fertility treatment is so so sore-big hugs. I hope that immune treatment gives you the happy ending that it gave us. Good Luck
Love Lubo xxx |
