Hi Karenl
I was told by the nurses at Care Sheffield that I can't use steam room, sauna or jacuzzi during any of the treatment although she didn't directly say it about the jacuzzi. Think it's because the heat is too strong. x |

Oh dear, went in the sauna last night for about 15mins. What a shame, it really de-stresses me.
Won't do it again, do you think it will harm just the once? |

| Think it will be ok. It was only for a short time. I am not sure what harm it can actually do just have been told previously not to. If you think about it it is more likely to affect men than women and also so many women go in sauna's etc and have no idea they are pregnant so I am sure it will not have made any difference. Think it might be to do with OHSS and dehydration. Just drink plenty of water.xx |

| Hi similar to the question, but I read that you can't have a bath? Does anyone know if this is true and if so why? |

Yes, avoid baths after et, well once you start the pessaries really, but i had a couple of just warm ones prior to et.
Baths can wash out pessaries + raise temp i think thats why, always told to shower..
Hope that helps. |

| Patty you can't have hot baths, a warmish bath is fine ie at a elbow temperature as you would check for a child. Hot bath could change basal body temperature that's why advised against it. I've continued having baths and but obviously not close to pesseries time. |

i scaled down my exercise levels when stimming then when ovaries got swollen had to stop due to the pain anyway. started walking the dog about 3-4d post ET and gradually built up the distance again after the 2w was able to walk a few miles but at a slower pace as was getting short of breath! reconditioning i suppose but also a sign of a BFP! as for heat - yes its due to problems if you raise your basal body temperature - apparently can affect egg quality & also developing embie....but having said that one sauna will be fine I am sure! a nice soak in a hot bath is now out of the question!!! boo!
interestingly my acupuncturist also follows these suggestions. she used to put a heat lamp over my wombie region - said no direct heat but i found a hot bean bag really helpful form EC whilst i waited for ET. but then i didn't use it again for this reason. well i say that...i didn't use it in my fresh cycle...forgot in my frozen cycle & used it for a few days post FET then realised. obviously did me no harm as Im 18w now!
good luck with it all
JEP
