Thanks ladies, the midwife found 1heartbeat really easily but wasn't sure if she was hearing the 2nd heartbeat or the placenta. Said if I wanted to put my mind at rest she could refer me to assessment unit at hospital for a scan. she made the appointment for a couple hours later and 2midwives listened to the heartbeats at the same time so they knew they were definitely separate heartbeats. They sounded fine but they wanted me to have a scan as well to check the fluid etc which I had to go back for 3hours later.
Had the scan, all looked good, babies have moved position slightly so not sure if that's why I'm not feeling as much. Everything looked absolutely fine and they were wriggling slightly, although I still couldn't feel them. So I'm extremely relieved!
Got to go back next week and see the consultant. I'm feeling very sore and bruised at the minute though, having been poked and prodded all day! Just glad all is ok though
Hope everyones ok xx |

Hi cake - pheweeeeeee!!! Good news!
Think we are bound to have these little hiccups along the way.......
How is everyone else? I have to admit I feel a bit lost with everyone - we need to update our list maybe then I will be better at personals etc!! I'm not good at copying & pasting on the iPad so if no-one else is a wizz at it before then I'll try & do it next week at work on desktop. Feel free anyone else though...!! Haha!
Wondering how hobbit is with placenta praevia? And someone else (please 'scuse me for being rude not remembering who!!) had vasa praevia if I remember? Hope that ongoing scans may be helping to clear the muddy waters??
How are all the other twinnies bearing up? Emnrick - not heard from you in ages!!
I'm doing ok. Have been organising and ordering stuff...getting some good deals on things...finding stuff on amazon is reasonable, but can't get any money off the iCandy jogger we want as the place that will give us 10% off cannot guarantee one in before due date in novemeber! John Lewis have some sat in their depo but won't price match competitors with no stock! Oh well..good job I'm saving pennies on other stuff hey?! Nipped into mns today and they have £5 off kidswear if you spend £25 so got a cute little set for flump...was worried I may be in trouble with DH but seems not! Hehe! 3d scan was good and been showing family & friends the photos. Seems more real now I can picture who is booting me in the belly at 4-5am!! So I'm now just starting the third trimester....can't help get excited now.... I thought I'd be v anxious and superstitious but feel after trying for this long we should enjoy it.
Hope everyone else ok.
Anyone else having 3d scan?
Love
JEP

Hi Everyone,
Quick catch up, as I seem to have lost where we're all at too!! I'm sorry I've not been around, Mr H moved home now and we've been mad busy trying to get little lady sorted (new furniture, room decs) so she doesn't think she's giving up her stuff for little boy (which she is LOL) We're trying to get the house how we want it and try and get us all a bit more settled to see where we're at!! I think we're getting there (fingers crossed!!) No problems this end with little man and not had any bleeding or trouble at all. We went for a 3d scan a couple of weeks ago and the sonographer tells me his placenta is still low but appears to have moved a bit too!! thank goodness! just need to have that confirmed at the 34 week scan and I might be able to actually decide what's happening for birth choices Only issues for me have been cramp in my calves in the middle of the night ...... not good, hopping round the bedroom squeaking trying to get rid of it!! baby Hobbit is a proper wriggler and some days I swear he doesn't sleep at all!!! It's permanent poking wriggling, kicking and shoving honestly i hope he's got better manners when he arrives LOL
Will try to keep up with you all now!! If I've missed any EDD or got them wrong, please shout and we'll sort out the list!!!

Thanks for doing the list - you are v good at that!!

Morning ladies, hope you're having a great weekend
Went to the Mothercare baby event on Thursday. Worth nipping in if theres one happening near you. Got a free goody bag with lots of info in, a baby hat, a box of creams / lotions for baby (cant remember what exactly), Im sure there was something else in there too! Got some bargains anyway, there was a reduced bucket on the floor and we found 2 cot duvet & pillowcase sets £4.50 each, a pair of curtains £6, a nappy stacker £2.50, and a lightshade £1.50. Also got measured for a bra, which Im not too impressed with now Im wearing it, doesnt seem the right fit to me. And got a bump support belt thing.
Here's the link if you want to see if there's one near you http://www.mothercarebabyandmeclub.com/store.aspx
Hope everyone is ok, had lots of kicks last night. Typical eh?! Glad I got checked out though, kept bursting into tears worrying so at least it put my mind at rest. 26 weeks today, times flying!

Hi ladies
Hobbit and Cakes thanks for updating the list. My brain can't remember anything!! On mine can you put a girl. can't believe I am 25 weeks. I went shopping on Saturday and bought a few clothes in m and s. Still reluctant to buy too many pink things as my cousin was told it was a girl and it was a boy!!! Luckily I have lots of neutral stuff from DS. I am definetely going to have bag packed by 34 weeks I think as DS was born at 37w1d and most things were packed apart from a couple of items and it was harder to think what I needed during early labour.
c4b glad you are all ok after the scare.
Emricks hope you are ok and Purdy too??

Hi all,
Please can you add me to the list? My EDD is 19 Nov and its going to be a surprise
Having a few days down Bristol, Bath and Stratford way which is lovely but I can't walk anywhere near as far or fast as I could pre-Bertie! 26 weeks today and over the last few days I've noticed I can see my tummy twitching and jumping a bit when it wiggles!
Hope everyone else is doing well

Topie adding you to the list hun. The tummy twitching is funny isn't it?? because I have a low lying placenta there's no padding at all and It's like watching that funny malteasers advert where the bump kicks the malteaser in the air Hope you have a lovely time away.

Hobbit, thats how my bump goes now too. Lots of jerks and twists, I love it! I might have to buy a box of maltesers now, just for test purposes to see if babies kick them of course
Its my birthday today and Im planning on having the laziest birthday ever. And DH has treated me to chocolate so would be rude not to indulge!
Hope everyone is ok xx |

Hey girls
Finally got time to update on here!
Cake - hope you had a good bday - and that you got to eat loads of ...cake!!
Looking at the list things are moving on quickly aren't they?. Josie, siobhon, chestnut - how do you feel? Counting down for you now! Especially bearing in mind the twins Josie ...how are things...have they given you a date for a section or are you aiming to go normal delivery?
Hobbit - any news on the old placenta front? Has it moved away from your cervix yet? Naughty old thing! Is baby Luke hobbit beng a good boy? Is DH home now? Has he left the forces now completely? Hoping that things are good as a 'normal' family - or whatever one of those is supposed to be!!
Ruby & redsox - not heard from you two in a while. Things all good?
Helena - how do you feel now being nearly 29w?! Weird feeling me thinks! Lovely to actually look pregnant isn't it?! We were mooching around shops last night & I looked in a window & saw my reflection....I suddenly though 'I'm one of those pregnant ladies I used to see out shopping & wish I could be one'!!
Emnrick - no news from you in ages and ages....what's going on in your world except growing a lovely pair of babies?!
Hi to lady, Anna, purdsey, topple and the post birthday girl c4b!
I had check at mw this week. Measuring slightly small - 27cm when I should be 29cm. I reckon this is just a guess-timate and if it carries on looking small next time they may scan me? But I've put 2 stone on now so it's not all my belly - mainly a*se and thighs I reckon! Oh and a bit of cleavage I never really had before!! Hehe! Got told off for working too many hrs as ankles swollen and GP/urine normal so it's got to be that as sit most of day. I do get up and wiggle around a lot but it's not the same is it...worried piles may be coming for the same reason too...got no symptoms of piles, but really didn't want any 'grapes' as my DH calls them! So going to have a chat at work on Monday and see if I don't do any more 12-13 hr days! I can do some work from home so think they will agree but I just need to ask for help which is something I'm not used to doing. I hate the thought of anyone thinking I'm not pulling my weight....
Anyway - happy weekends ladies....
Enjoy but get some time with feet in the air - I will be!
JEP

Hi Lovely Ladies,
Just wanted to let you know that whilst I will be around, on and off I will be even more sporadic than normal. Mr H pulled the blinder I have ben half expecting and left us!!! So now we have lots of sorting and working out how to make this as easy on little Miss H as possible which I have to say floors me every time i try and think about it .... He really doesn't have the best timing!!
I'm sure you haven't but if anyone has any wisdom or experience in things like this please let me know as I really don't know how to get her through unscathed!!

Oh hobbit....gutted for you.
Mr H ...... I know you were wondering chick...I'm really sorry for you. I know others had given you some advice on boys in/leaving the forces etc. the only information I know is that the charity 'relate' that does relationship counselling also does a thing called 'relate to you' (I think that is right) which is support for children who's parents are breaking up. I'm not sure what age they start at though as I know J-A is only 3. Have a look on their website for more info, but I was told they have local offices so counselling can be organised. Your GP my know of other local support for her if you are worried. But children tend to be more resilient than adults think sometimes. Hopefully she can look forward to having a baby brother and that will give her something else to focus on. Really important she doesn't blame baby H for daddy leaving I guess......
Be strong and thinking of you. If there's anything you need us to do, or simply have people to listen we are here ok?
Lots of love
JEP

Oh Hobbit, sorry to hear that .... I know there's never a good time but what crap timing!
I know it's easy to say but I wouldn't worry about your daughter too much - she's the same age as my nephew and my sister & her partner are going through the same thing at the moment (for the 3rd time in a year!) and he just takes it all in his stride - kids are incredibly resilient at that age and as long as she knows you both love her I'm sure she'll be fine.
As JEP said if you want to come on here and vent do, everyone is her for you ... And make sure you're looking after yourself and your little man x
Welcome Topie! The stomach twitching is amazing isn't it? Even now I just stare in awe sometimes when it starts!
C4B .. Hope you had a great birthday and indulged in the chocolate!
JEP .... I heard they're not too concerned about 2cm's either way (my midwife ignores my measurement with it being twins so I don't know how true that is!) but it wouldn't be the end of the world if they had to scan you again and you got another sight of your little one would it! Don't feel guilty about asking for help at work, I'm sure everyone is wondering how your managing to do 12+ our days at present (I know I am!) I'm booked in for a CS on 25/9, so 5 weeks on Tuesday!
Hope everyone else is doing well and coping with the heat!

Hobbit, so sorry to hear that. I dont know your circumstances but it must be so hard especially now. As everyone has said, children are so resilient and please make sure you look after yourself and baby. Sending lots of virtual hugs xx
Josie, that is so soon! Makes me feel a bit nervous that we are counting down weeks. I know you are a few weeks ahead of me but it makes it more 'real'!!!
Had a lovely birthday with lots of lovely prezzies. No cake though. Im the cake maker in the family and I certainly wasnt making my own!
Hope everyone is ok |

Hi ladies
Oh Hobbit so sorry to hear your news - one thing I know is IVF ladies are very strong so I know you're going to be ok - make sure you take all the help/ support you can from family/ friends.
Yes I am looking VERY pregnant! Never thought it would happen so its truly amazing. And loving feeling baby move..... Does proper star jumps at times!
I have had a "rough" few days - we had our 28 week scan which revealed that baby's kidneys are a bit dilated (still) - consultant assures us its nothing to worry about but they are keeping an eye on us. The scan also revealed that baby is measuring a bit on the big side. I explained that the women in my family have big babies but even so they sent me for a Glucose Tolerance Test. Unfortunately it came back with my glucose "a bit high" so I've been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes! I have to manage it with diet and exercise and I have to monitor my levels with one of those little machines that you put a drop of blood onto. So far my levels have been spot on so I'm almost wondering what they're on about! They scare you though by saying that too much glucose makes baby grow too big (which may cause complications in birth) and increases the chance of baby having diabetes later in life (and my risk of Type 2 diabetes increases too)
Anyway it's more a nuisance than anything else and I felt SOOO upset because I thought after everything we've been through to get pregnant now I've done something to result in getting this! (even though my diet is genereally quite good) The truth is though that the pregnancy hormones interfere with insulin production so I'm told it's nothing I've done.
It may also mean that they might have to induce me earlier (if baby is too big)...
Anyway that's my latest wobble.... hope you're all blossoming beautifully!
Love
H xx |

Oh Helena ... bugger!!
Don't worry cause as long as you take what they say on board things should stay stable. A girl at yoga with me has it & is still only on diet and is 40w now and normal sized baby etc. on the other end of the spectrum my cousin had it badly & had to inject insulin every day...annoying but she and baby are ok and not a wiff of diabetes since. I know the is an increased future risk for you, but I'm sure that is way way off and with diet & lifestyle changes it may never even darken your door..... Glad you are enjoying being pregnant and I too love the movements. Totally amazing hey?! Eeeeeekkkkk!!

Helena, I second what Jep said! At least you know and they can keep an eye on it for you too. And its good news that your levels have been good since. There's always something to worry about eh?
Bought my first item for the hospital bag yesterday..... a box of breast pads from Tesco! Had to start somewhere and that was the only thing I could think of that I needed to get haha. DH is a bit worried I will go into labour with no bag packed. Im only 27wk4days so hopefully got a long time to go yet
Asda baby event starts tomorrow, got a leaflet through the door today showing whats on offer. Theres also a voucher on the back for a free goody bag with "a height chart, magnetic shopping list and branded samples". Dont want you to miss it and throw it away like I almost did! |

Hi ladies ,
Been a bit quiet in here recently .... How's every one doing?
Hobbitt ... Hope things have settled down a bit now and DD is coping with the changes.
Helena .... Hope evrything's ok with LO's kidney, and your levels are still ok.
C4B .... Thanks for the heads up on the ASdA event, got stocked up on more nappies while they're on offer! Have you been given any idea of how far they'll let you go yet? My consultant will let me go to 37+6, although I saw the midwife yesterday and she said she wasn't sure I'd last another 4 weeks!! Are you going for a natural birth or a CS?
Don't know if it would be beneficial to anyone but Toys R Us have got a trade in event on at the moment - if you take any old car seats, pushchairs etc you get 25% off any new item you buy - so if any 2nd time mums have any battered items they want rid off, or you've been given any hand me downs you don't want to use might be worth a look!

Hi ladies - I wrote a long post a couple of days ago and managed to lose it. Then I was tired so can't be bothered to type again.
Yesterday had a fantastic morning baby shopping at asda at the baby event and mothercare. In asda I managed to get an avent single breast pump for £30 instead of £60 although I have seen it for alot more in other places (same as the one I had last time but sold as didn't think I would need it again ). It was a good pump and would recommend it.
Then I went to dinner and things went down hill. 2 blokes came to the table I was eating at (with my mum, dad and DS) with leaflets being a pain and it was only later I realised my iphone had been nicked. The cheek of them. Good news is gthe scumbags have been caught and they did the same in lincoln and Grantham when by the sounds of it they got caught in the act. They are both in custody now and I will get my phone back!!!
Hobbit- Really sorry to hear about your hubby and rubbish timing. My friend's hubby decided to tell her when she was in labour that he didn't love her. What an idiot! Big hugs to you.
Helena - sorry to hear about your gestational diabetes. I had the gtt test last pregnancy ( due to PCOS) but was fine.
Hi everyone else
