Hi,
I am six weeks pregnant and am on clexane injections. I would like to ask those of you who have been on clexane to let me know where you took yours. I am taking the injections myself and injecting them in the side of my tummy alternating sides each day. I had been told that i have to take them in my tummy only, however yesterday a new doctor told me that i can take them even in my upper thighs. I am getting mixed up, my tummy is getting bruised and I am worried i will run out of space the more my tummy grows and the less elastic my skin will be to grab and inject in. Any advice?
Thanks,
snow white xxxx |

I managed to use tummy for the whole of my pregnancy (was kept on it til 36 weeks), but my tummy wasn't exactly flat to start with! I've also heard you can use your legs. Maybe have a word with the pharmacist, they often can access more complete information.

Hi, i didn't need to take it but im a nurse and it is supposed to be injected into your stomach but if you are struggling, and running out of space you can alternate the sites between your upper thighs and stomach. However i would check with your GP, as they all state different things
Good luck xx |

Thanks everyone,
I will try to keep doing it in my tummy, but will check again with the doctor in my next visit.

i too took clexane until 39weeks pg and was told i should always do them in my tummy, i did query it when i was being kicked during doing the jab and had it re-iterated that the best place was the lower tummy!
good luck

Hi
I did mine in my tummy until 36 weeks. I was getting further and further towards my side.
I found if I lent towards the injection it went in easier. I occasionally tried my thigh but could never get it to go in
Good Luck

Hi there
I used clexane for a year when pregnant with my twins, it does get easier your skin firms to the injections, I was so badly bruised at first I looked a mess, try going low down then you can pinch a little more skin in with the injection. Congratulations as well!! Xxx |

Thanks everyone,
My tummy looks a mess, sometimes i get bruised and others i don't.
hoping and praying - weren't you scared that you will poke the babies when getting injected. I am worried that I will poke the baby later on the pregnancy. |
