Mr Glenn Atkinson MRCOG – Medical Director

Mr Glenn Atkinson, Medical Director

Glenn has a wide experience in all aspects of obstetrics and gynaecology. He has concentrated on infertility in the latter part of his career and is a sub-specialty trained consultant in reproductive medicine. Glenn joined CARE in 1999 and under his guidance the unit has grown into one of the major centres for fertility treatment in the North West of England. Glenn has particular interest and expertise in male factor infertility, ultrasound scanning and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis.

Mr Rashmi Patel FRCOG – Consultant Gynaecologist

Rashmi has many years experience in fertility management, he is particularly interested in stimulation response, assessment of uterine factors and recurrent implantation failure.

Mr Mark Sedler MRCOG – Consultant Gynaecologist

Mr Mark Sedler MRCOG, Consultant Gynaecologist

Mark has extensive experience in both obstetrics and gynaecology. Having qualified and trained initially in the region of Merseyside, he formally completed his specialist training within the Yorkshire region

As a clinical research fellow, Mark underwent his specialist interest training in subfertility, reproductive medicine and IVF at the Assisted Conception Unit, Leeds General Infirmary.

Mark has particular experience in IVF treatment procedures and has specialist interests in ovarian stimulation, ultrasonography and laparoscopic surgery.

Charmian Russell – Unit Manager

Charmian Russell, Unit Manager

Charmian has worked in the field of assisted conception for over 20 years and was a senior member of the clinical team at Withington Hospital, Manchester. Charmian is also a trained fertility counsellor, she joined CARE in 1999 to help establish the service in Manchester.

Alison Campbell – Director of Embryology

Alison Campbell, Director of Embryology

Alison has dedicated her working life to human embryology and has extensive experience in the field of assisted reproduction. After achieving a distinction in her Masters degree in Assisted Reproduction, Alison held the position of Laboratory Manager before helping to launch CARE in 1997. In 2001 Alison was appointed Director of Embryology for the CARE group. Her role involves ensuring CARE's laboratories practice at the highest standards and are able to offer our patients the best chance of a successful pregnancy. Alison is licenced to practice all embryology procedures including Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) and Embryo Biopsy.

CARE is pleased to announce a pregnancy from the UK's first clinical use of an Embryoscope, an advanced incubator which allows continuous monitoring of embryos in a strictly controlled environment, and observation by time lapse microscopy.
