Professor Charles Kingsland, Chief Medical Officer
Training
Charles trained in Reproductive Medicine and IVF at the Middlesex Hospital and Bourne Hall clinic.
Career
After fertility training in Cambridge and London in the late 1980s, Charles Kingsland founded the Hewitt Fertility Centre in Liverpool with the aim of providing the highest quality NHS service within the United Kingdom.
Charles has become one of the world’s outstanding fertility specialists, much sought after for lecturing and speaking, and was awarded a Professorship in 2012. As media spokesman for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, Charles appears regularly on Television and Radio programmes and is in high demand as a public speaker. A BBC documentary of his work in Liverpool was broadcast in 2014.
In 2017, after successfully achieving his original goals of creating the United Kingdom’s largest NHS Invitro Fertilisation unit, Charles joined the Care Fertility Group as its Clinical Director.
He now brings his immense knowledge and experience to the Group, but also maintains his presence in the North West as Medical Director of the newly-opened, bespoke Care Fertility clinic in his beloved Liverpool, wonderfully situated on the banks of the River Mersey, next to the Liver Building.
Together with his handpicked staff of outstanding doctors, nurses and scientists, he provides sensible, personalised advice and treatment that only a professional lifetime’s experience within the specialty can provide.
This is underpinned by the support by Britain’s leading fertility group, the Care Fertility family.
Professional Bodies
Charles served on the Executive Board of the British Fertility Society for many years and was Meetings Secretary for six years. He was also instrumental in establishing NHS funding for IVF in Cheshire, Merseyside and Wales.
Amongst his many other National and International roles, Charles was a Fellow on the Council of The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists from 2010 to 2016.
He was appointed Professor at the Post Graduate Medical Institute at Edge Hill University in 2012 and has established Mastership Courses in Advanced Fertility Practice for Nurses and Doctors alike, together with an active Research Programme.
