Donating your eggs consists of 2 main stages.
The first step is the stimulation phase with daily injections and this may produce a little discomfort.
The next step is the egg collection, and this does not hurt. Egg collection is performed under mild sedation or local anaesthetic, resulting in the donor not experiencing any pain during the process. However, after the procedure, you may experience mild lower abdominal cramping, similar to menstrual cramps, for two or three days. In order to minimise any discomfort you should make sure you drink lots of fluids and take paracetamol.
You will be in the safest of hands, the teams at CARE have vast experience of egg donation and will look after you throughout the process
