Counselling during COVID-19: continuing support with telephone appointments
The very best patient care and support is at the heart of what we do, which is why counselling is free and available to everyone at CARE.
Every one of our clinics, including CARE Lancaster, has a dedicated counsellor, and though they are currently not offering in-person meetings to help minimise the spread of COVID-19, our counsellors are ready to listen with telephone appointments available.
Our counselling sessions are an opportunity to talk through your thoughts and feelings, and can be really useful if you’re finding treatment stressful or if you’re feeling anxious in these confusing times.
Contact us to find out more about our counselling services or book an appointment – there is always someone to talk to at CARE.
During treatment you’ll need to visit your clinic for monitoring, sometimes for four or five days, and we know that if you live some distance away this isn’t always easy. But with our local monitoring service at Lancaster Healthub, you will be able to get the service you need closer to home. And still be able to access to the most up-to-date fertility procedures, genetic screening techniques and comprehensive IVF treatments in partnership with CARE Fertility Manchester.

Dr Alison Bateman manages our IVF monitoring service at Lancaster. Since she launched the service two years ago, it has been very positively received by patients. They love the convenience of local monitoring and reduced travelling time, and the caring and professional service given by Dr Bateman.
Dr Bateman can now offer the service to patients who are having private fertility treatment from North Lancs area and beyond.
Dr Bateman has worked as a GP partner in Lancaster at Queen square medical practice since 1994. In 2008 she decided to further her women’s health interest and obtained a Diploma for Practitioners with a Special Interest via Bradford University. During this time she developed an interest in fertility treatment and became aware of a service gap in the North Lancs area. So she went on to develop a fertility service which takes referrals from all local GPs in Lancs North CCG. Alison developed links with CARE Fertility in 2011 and obtained the British fertility Ultrasound Certificate with training at CARE Manchester in 2015. This means she can provide monitoring scans in Lancaster for local patients undergoing IVF treatment at CARE Manchester.
