Dr Amy Barrie
Training
Amy's academic journey began with a Physiology degree at the University of Manchester. She continued her academic learning with a Master’s degree in Prenatal Genetics and Fetal Medicine at University College London. Dr Barrie was later awarded a PhD in 2017, focussing on ‘Time-lapse Systems: Incubation and Annotation’. Her educational background reflects her dedicated commitment to advancing her expertise in reproductive medicine and fetal health.
Career
With over a decade of experience in Clinical Embryology, Amy brings a wealth of expertise and special interest in time-lapse technology used throughout the Care Fertility Group laboratories.
She actively contributes to the training of future embryologists, engaging in teaching on the Scientific Training Programme and assessing for the National School of Healthcare Science.
Alongside her role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements from the HFEA, Amy is committed to maintaining the highest standards of care for all Care Fertility patients.

Amy has published a number of papers and book chapters on this topic and remains involved in research in this area, such as her recent research paper,‘Can we optimise the time that we perform the fertilisation check in lab? Lessons learnt from time-lapse incubation’, which won an award at the Association of Reproductive and Clinical Scientists’ Fertility 2021 conference.
