Karen Thompson
Training
Karen graduated with a BSc (Hons) in biology from the University of Manchester in 1994 and has dedicated her career to Reproductive Medicine since 1995. Her commitment to professional development is evident through the completion of several postgraduate courses specialising in Clinical Embryology. Karen is also a diplomate of the Royal College of Pathologists.
Career
Karen's journey in Reproductive Medicine spans over eight years in London before becoming Lead Embryologist at Care Fertility Leeds in 2006. Her dedication led to her appointment as Lab Manager in 2011. Leading a team of 14, Karen is committed to delivering high-quality services with the latest technologies in Reproductive Medicine. Sine 2017, she has also been the HFEA person responsible. Karen actively contributes to scientific training programmes, notably through the National School of Healthcare Science. She has been involved in the Association of Reproductive Clinical Scientists (ARCS) for many years, and is still a member of the education and training sub committee.
