Lead Advanced Nurse Practitioner
Vicki is currently the Lead Advanced Clinical Practitioner at Care Fertility Leeds. She manages a team of 29 nurses, midwives, healthcare assistants, and administration staff.

Training

Qualified as a registered general nurse from Bradford University in 1997, she joined the fertility specialism in 1999. In 2019, Vicki completed her MSC in Advanced Clinical Practice at Edgehill University in Liverpool, before going on to complete her non-clinical prescribing at Beckett University in Leeds.

Career

Starting as a qualified registered nurse working within gynaecology in 1997, Vicki moved to the fertility sector in 1999, working with Mr Anthony Rutherford and Professor Adam Balen.

In 2001, Vicki moved into fertility research and led a large international led multicentered research trial with Professor Helen Picton. In 2004 there was funding received to allow a further study that Vicki worked with assisting Professor Henry Lees from York University researching stem cell development from donated embryos. Vicki continued to work in fertility both clinically and co ordinating research trials then took a career break in 2016 to have time off with her young children.

Vicki return to fertility nursing was in 2018 where she returned to oversee the clinical work of a smaller satellite service. She was asked to return to Leeds in 2011 to oversee the co ordination of all private patients having care at Leeds. Following completion of her MSC in 2019 her final pathway in her career was moving to Lead Advanced Clinical Practitioner in 2020.

Vicki is 60% clinical in her duties and undertakes oocyte retrievals, embryo transfers, endometrial biopsies, HyCosy procedures, and fertility scanning.

Specialties and Credentials

MSC in Advanced Clinical Practice and qualified non clinical prescribing. Vicki is currently running an ultrasound course (certificate level) for nurses/midwifes across the care group wishing to train in fertility scanning.
