Dr Lucy Coyne
Training
Lucy graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2004 and started her career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2005. Lucy has over 12 years’ experience in diagnosing and managing infertility, she underwent specialised training in reproductive medicine and assisted conception under the guidance of Professor Kingsland at The Hewitt Centre in Liverpool from 2010 to 2012. During this time, she achieved certification from the British Fertility Society certification in pelvic ultrasound, embryo transfer and intrauterine insemination.
Throughout her training, Lucy conducted research, focusing on natural killer cells and endometriosis, and was awarded the RCOG Endometriosis Millennium Fund Grant to support her work. She has published articles on various topics, including 3D ultrasound, natural killer cells, endometriosis and recurrent miscarriage.
Lucy further advanced her expertise by completing advanced training in both open and laparoscopic gynaecological surgery. She earned a place on the BSGE Surgical Masterclass Course, gaining experience in advanced laparoscopic surgery in the UK and Europe.
Career
As a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust, Lucy lead Reproductive Medicine, overseeing Fertility and Menopause services. Additionally, she led the Fertility service for the North West Regional Spinal injuries unit from 2020 to 2022. In February 2022, Lucy was appointed Medical Director for Assisted Conception Services at Care Fertility Cheshire, and later in May 2022, she also became the Medical Director at Care Fertility Liverpool. Lucy has a keen interest in medical education throughout her career.
Most recently, she served as the lead question writer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for the national specialty recruitment for doctors entering both specialty training and general practice. Additionally, Lucy has also been an Educational Supervisor for RCOG trainees in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In 2021, she successfully completed the FMLM Medical Leadership and Development Programme, showcasing her commitment to professional development and leadership in the field.
